I've always wanted to buy a submarine and bury it in the ground so that the conning tower is exposed. I want to renovate it as a house and fill the rest of my lot with long waving grass.

There was a way to tell what direction.
>>34608763
There was a pistol.
There were things to spin everywhere.

USS Drum, right? Didja see the Type 99 LMG and Type 100 SMG on the 'Bama?
The average temperature on a submarine during WW2 was 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
Many submarines were made in Wisconsin then dragged through Chicago and over to the Mississippi River and they had to go the whole length until they go to the Gulf of Mexico. Then they were armed.
They had red and green lights.
The submarine also has an outside part.
>>34608943
Tell me more op
The submarine uses Diesel engines on the surface only.
They charge batteries.

Submariners did not get to take their first shower until 3 weeks at see and the only got to use 2 gallons of water. Submarines were called pig boats because they smelled bad inside.

That would be awesome

Submariners made 40% more pay.
23% of submarines were lost at sea.

As recommended by Ian of Forgotten Weapons
(he built his own house from this stuff)

Just go for the Extended Dome shape and place a little atrium tower in the middle. It's also fairly cheap!

Have you never fucking SEEN a WW2 sub, god damn
>>34609096
The submarine is able to desalinate 750 gallons a day but most of that water was used for the batteries which had to be kept full and then for cooking and kitchen cleaning. Bathing came last.
The cook was made to shower every day.
Officers showered once per week.
Captains as much as they pleased.
Enlisted showered monthly... and rotated shifts on shared beds.
>>34609112
It's a bit like my grandfather's; He was a mechanic mate on the USS Tunny as a nuclear deterrent sub patrol in the Cold War
He has awesome stories.

>enlisted showered monthly
Do bad people become submariners when they die?
But does it chooch?
OP, what the fuck? Did you not take a picture of the torpedo computer?
>>34609289
Here you can see the engine also has parts inside it.
Hey OP,
I screamed in agony as I read your thread, the power...

In WW2 enlisted were not allowed on deck for the duration of a 60 patrol.
Thank you for your service.
>>34609918
You do if you're a mechanic mate and have to grease the peri and deck guns, among other things.
>>34609918
Yeah. Officers don't clean or paint shit.
Nor do they operate shooty things.

Was there any sort of TP rationing on subs? They could only carry so much. Did you get 1 roll a week or was it more strict than that?
>>34609828
I went there during last year's fleet and air show. How did you manage to spend the night?

Did he build it himself or did he get it contracted out for the construction.
I figure any plumbing and electrical work would definitely need to have someone to come in and do, as well as doing the foundation and digging.
But hell, even that only amounts to something like 40k if you're going turbo tard high end, the land might end up costing you more.
Would be pretty comfy to have as a get away. Drill a well for water, get a water collection system going for a small green house, get some solar panels hooked up and live mostly off the grid.
I could easily see myself retiring on so.ething like that, and spending the rest of my days in the workshop tinkering, building funs, and other far-flung futuristic cyber punk shit we'll see in the coming decades.
Kure Naval Museum.
They accidentally a whole submarine, several blocks in from the docks.

Doesn't answer all the questions I have, but helps.
I'm more concerned with the structural integrity of the shell, as well as what the hell they're covering it with.
It looks like some kind of tarp they then cement over. If so, I got to wonder how it's hold up with the addition of a basement added.
Their website says it's got an on staff engineer that works this all out and certifies the plans so they definitely seem legit and knowledgeable enough.
And for 50k Ian said? That's pretty damn reasonable. Figuring land, plumbing, utilities, foundation and everything else.
>>34622566
>I got to wonder how it's hold up with the addition of a basement added.
You don't add a basement. It IS the basement. That thing later on gets fully covered in soil and buried underground. Only the front wall stays free.
If you want more space, just plonk down a second dome or a third. Without utilities they're dirt cheap. On their website, it says for the very biggest variation of the 50 dome 100k.
