I said lightly supervised. The G43 was made by heavily supervised Jews, hence why it was better.

>Beat itself to death
Maybe the AVT, but then at least auto was an option, is there a full auto m1?
Mine has been very reliable and the magazine and gas system are genius for the time. My only complaint is the stock retaining screw and mostly because I'm not in war and actually need to worry about corrosive ammo...
>>
>>34608865
Wrong, wrong, and also wrong (the M1 is just as big of a pain to clean). Just because dumbasses don't know how to use the gas system doesn't mean the rifle is bad.
>>

>the M1 is hard to clean

>>
>>34608961

It beat using a bolt gun. I'm not shitting on the SVT at all, there's just no need to say silly stuff like "It da best"

I also own one and I like it. It was a very forward thinking rifle. However, the M1 was all around a much better gun. The overall robustness as well as the enbloc system made it a lasting design; the SVT was obsolete within what, 7 years?
>>
>>34608977
>Just because dumbasses don't know how to use the gas system doesn't mean the rifle is bad.
>Just because 99% of the Soviet army don't know how to use the gas system doesn't mean the rifle is bad.
>>
>>34609018
This, between the AK series and then the Dragunov the SVT-40 became quite useless. It fulfilled its purpose as a semi-auto battle rifle in a country that was primarily using a bolt action rifle and smg for combat.

It's a pain in the ass to break down.

I'm gonna have to say M1 Carbine to spite these Garand shills
>More suited to the average combat distance of WW2
>Lighter
>15 rounds instead of 8, or 10, doubling to 30 later on

If the M1 carbine had been chambered in something just a little hotter and with spitzer rounds, it would have outperformed every single other rifle in the war by a longshot (even more than the Garand)
>>
>>34608587
Sks-45. 1945 year make. Very little issued
>>

What's it like being so shitter shattered.
If your massive, illiterate, peasant army can't understand how to use a rifle to its fullest, that rifle fails to be any better than any other rifle
>>
>>34608491
Listen here fucko,

Just because it's rare and overpriced in the US, and you either paid the ludicrous amount of dosh the command or fantasize about owning one, does not mean they're good.

The SVT is an interesting relic but it was far from the best battle rifle in WW2. Ask any group of gun owners that have access to them for reasonable prices (Canadians, Euroland) and you find out how shitty they are. There's reasons why the slavs dropped them fast as soon as the SKS was developed.
>>
>>34609053
The m1 garand is ridiculously easy to take down compare to any other earlier self loader. You really are retarded

Fuck, they dropped them ever before that so they could focus production on Mosin-Nagants cause they lost most of them in the beginning of the war.

What's funny is that even the ones us Finns captured and tried to rework still aren't that great. It's overall just a shitty gun that beats itself to death, is barely accurate to hit man-size targets, and the ones you do find in good condition don't stay in good condition for long (stocks crack, gas systems rust easy)

Y'all have clearly never held one. It's amazingly light and well balanced. The muzzle break is highly effective as well.

These are great features for a crippled noodle armed kommando like myself.
>>
>>34609114
War in Europe ended in '44. Also, the SKS production was halted when the Russo remixed AK was better
>>
The italian Armaguerra Mod.39 was pretty good
It was supposed to replace the Carcano but we didn't because of the war
Anyway the best semiauto of the war was the M1 Garand
>>
>>34609269

While you are mainly correct, I think you exaggerate the problems. SVT-40 does not beat itself to death that easily unless the gas-setting is set too high and/or improperly selected ammo is used (one should stick with surplus that has light bullets). Accuracy is perfectly acceptable for normal combat ranges, but not on same level as with best bolt-action military rifles of the era. I have SVT-40 which I have shot few thousand rounds this far - without facing any problems that did not exist from the start (1st round flier issue plus some mostly mag-related reliability issues). The particular individual rifle has near perfect bore and it's accurate enough to reliably hit A-area of SRA-target from 150 meters.
>>
>>34608524
Shhh....don't pop the Canadian's bubble. The, muh cheap SVTs is really the only thing they can brag about.
>>

That is probably true to a point, but another fact that most soldiers also were smart enough to value firepower. German infantry never had too much automatic or semiautomatic firearms, hence it not a surprise that soldat were happy to replace their bolt-action mauser with semiautomatic rifle if such a possibility was available.
