I would actually be surprised if the manufacturer hasn't contacted the ATF in advance of marketing their product. It's standard operating procedure for someone manufacturing firearms accessories.

I remember when I was just getting into anime, I think Haruhi was one of the first ten shows I downloaded and watched all the way through. I guess it was fun and all, but I honestly couldn't tell you what made it good if I tried. Later, the Disappearance movie came out and Endless Eight as well, and they just made me realize that this series is nothing more than teenage drama, basically a soap opera with the main difference being that the characters are "high tension" for literally no reason at all. Now that I've seen around 450 anime, I could name probably a hundred anime that are better than Haruhi.
