Serbian mag guy here. Just got back from the range. I put ~180 rounds total through my 8 mags. No malfunctions and all locked up nicely. I did like the BHO feature but I found that if I wasn't paying attention to the charging handle that it was easy to try to fire on an empty mag. But for 8 bucks a pop you can't go wrong.

Would recommend.

The only period correct optics are night vision and I have no desire for a side rail on my rifle just for the sake of putting a big heavy night vision scope on there just to take pictures of it. Also I find a blank left side to be more attractive. 95% of commercial AK rifles have side rails on them. Nice to have something different.

Also it is more accurately represents the rifles of that time. Not everybody had side rails or folding stocks.

You have to buy the bolt, knuckle, and housing as a set since they're built slightly different from standard ones. But they're made of the same shit those para mags are, so theoretically a 50.63 with hiduminium would weigh like 6some pounds I think it was? It's insanely light, cuts 1.5-2lbs

yeah, i can attest to that when it comes to israeli surplus in general. not so much poorly maintained, but heavily used. the p228 above is one example, but it refinished well (got it back today). the slide-frame fitment is virgin again, tight as a west german actually.

i also have a jericho 941f which is well broken in but it's still tightly fit (mostly due to the design) and shoots like a champ

Witcheranon, what's your opinion on needing to "break in" a PTR91 barrel? I know PTR says to go through this obnoxious break-in process but I'm honestly not really sure it's necessary given that G3s aren't the world's most accurate rifles to start with.

That's what I figured. Most people on HKPro seem to just clean it after 50-100 rounds and that's about it. I might take a boresnake and some Ballistol to run through it once or twice during the first couple of mags, but the whole "one shot, clean thoroughly, repeat for first 300 rounds" shit seems absolutely insane, like the sort of thing you'd expect to do for a match grade bolt gun and not a fucking stamped battle rifle.
