With night vision you either aim using an IR laser, you walk the fire on target with tracers if you somehow don't have a PEQ, or you specifically have your nightvision mounted on the rifle itself (PVS-14 in a rifle mount, or a PVS-2 or PVS-4 scope). If you are shooting at close range (indoors, whatever) you aim down your sights with a bare eye and you use a weapon light.

Like seriously less than 0.1% of forces are using head mounted NV goggles in tandum with a rifle mounted optic. And that's modern day- "back in the day" when even Special Forces guys were using PVS-7s, that number is even lower.
