It looks like a MiG 1.44 baseline that was completely redesigned around data stolen from the F-35 program. Presumably the plane was developed for the niche role of carrying very large missiles capable of attacking the Navy and Air Force from standoff ranges from a survivable, low observable platform.

The J-20 borrows its bubble canopy from the F-22, and debatably the nose (it's not particularly magical, just facet design), but the air inlets and tail control surfaces have a lot more in common with the F-35 than the Raptor.

Pure coincidence. Different studies that has the same goals almost always will look the same at the end. It looks the same because that was what it was intended to do, super stealth with super maneouverability, the fact that the American planes does not look like the J-20 shows that they are not at that level of superiority yet. The J-20 is made by indigenous research and development that has no analog anywhere in the world. This gives it the background that China did not need to steal any inferior design from anybody but made a superior plane from scratch with honor and dignity.

Mig 1.44 has the air ducts at the bottom like an Eurofighter and is significantly shorter and has 0 stealth unless you believe in the plasma stealth meme.

It's the precursor to the Eurofighter, a mockup from 1982;
Biggest difference is the twin Tails.

As you can see it shares a fairly similar planform to the MiG 1.44.
