You're going to put your arm close enough to something that can hmm idk latch its jaws onto you and rip your arm off? 90% of "stun guns" are fake noise makers from China. They're moderately discomforting. Even a decent one is unlikely to stop a dog attack. I'd rather take my chances with a knife if I was noguns. Pepper spray is good too, stun guns are a total gimmick though.

Yeah, I'm bigger and have thumbs. As long as they don't get you by the jimmy or the throat by surprise, you can lift them off the ground and fuck up their whole strategy. Their front legs cant move to the side so it's easy to really break their spirit if you can get a hold of them.

Dogs are friends for the most part so this is only needed when you come up against one recruited by the ATF SITH lords.

I received over 140 stitches on my legs, arms and hands repelling a police dog in hot pursuit of someone who wasn't me in a classic wrong place, wrong time scenario. It took less than 30 seconds for its handler to get to me and get it off me. Highly motivated dogs are nothing to fuck with.

Tazers are probably the best defense against dogs and K9s, what'd kill a human will put down a dog, second to a dog of course.

Besides that, an expanding baton is great in general as it gives you reach and dog bones are surprising brittle. A good wack and they're down for good.

Pepper spray is probably your best non lethal. Acidic, burning not to mention extremely odorous. A dog will stay a hundred feet away from you the second they catch its smell.
