OP here. Just got a new Makarov and a Beretta 92S. I haven't shot the Mak yet, but the 92 is very smooth. Both were in great condition, and the 92S is a real value at $300 because a new 92FS goes for $500. pic related

Con somebody tell me why these threads are the best part of my day?

Semi related but I bought an m1 garand with a bandolier of '68 lake city. Out of curiosity I decided to try to cycle through one of the en blocs but I had a FTE on the second round. After looking at it I'm pretty sure the bolt didn't get into battery and the cartridge was stuck in the chamber (I had to slam down the buttstock like mortar-clearing it to get it out). I tried another en bloc and same thing with the second round. I just bought some modern sellier and bellot m2 ball with new en blocs so I'm hoping that'll avoid the issue but if not any idea what's causing it?

Whats the difference between an Arisaka 99 and 38 safety knob?

I bought a 38 for cheap but its missing the knob. Best I've been able to determine is the 38s might have a long bump where the 99s have a notch. And obviously the 99s will come welded occasionally.

Same question for the firing pin. I have one, but I can't guarantee its from a 38 since its not stamped matching.

The parts are interchangable between the two guns as long as you use a 99 firing pin and 99 safety or 38/38.

I have my sks, my mosin, my nagant revolver, all I am missing to feel decently good about my russian chapter of collection is a tok. Then I don't know where to go. I have a walther, but that is more or less all I care to have of german stock. What is a good thing to be interested in? An enfield maybe? Oh, and just a long shot here, the pin in the falling block of my walther has come out and refuses to be reseated. If I just place it in there and reassemble the gun, it holds it in place. Is there any danger to using it like that?

Got 2 of these as a package deal. Both needed bolts and a couple small parts. I sold one to a friend for a fairly low price and still made a little money on it.

I'm in the process of kind of "restoring" a Krag. I finally got a reproduction handguard for it, and some day I might cut the barrel down a couple more inches to be actual Carbine length, and make kind of a Carbine clone out of it.

I've been looking to un-fuck one of my Gew 98's for about a year. Stocks will run at least $200. Handguards $25, barrel bands at least another $40 etc... I usually end up spending more money but I feel good about bringing something back to the way it's meant to be. The thrill of finding the parts after searching for months is fun too. Hey /k/, I'm gonna go look at a Lee-Enfield No.4 mk.2 after work today. Dude says it was made in 53, and it has a bright bore, which means the rifling must be good.

I'm still pretty new to buying used guns, so I was just wondering if anybody could offer advice. Or a write up or sumthin.

He's asking 375, and it sounds like I could talk him down a little, although I'm not gonna try and rip him off.

GunBroker seems to be between 300-500 bucks range. So it doesn't seem like a bad deal. Then again, I paid 360 for a Yugo Mauser 2 years back...

Originally they were rimfire and used 10.4x38 black powder (310grs at 1300fps). You can convert the rifles to centerfire by drilling a hole in the bolt face and making your own firing pin, it's not that hard. The hard part is the ammo. You have to fire form 8mm level into 10.4x42, I use a cast 255gr .429 Keith projectile with 45gr's of 3f powder and cream of wheat filler. It has to be a 42mm case length to properly seat and crimp the bullet. It's one of my favorite surpluss rifles to shoot, there's something about black powder and brass casings.
Tl;Dr- it's shootable but requires some work and tough reloading shit

PPU and military 6.5 are out. The Swiss veterlli is designed to contain 20,000 CUP at the chamber, assuming the Italian veterlli is the same 6.5 generates a lot more then 20,000 cup (nearly twice as much). I'm gonna cast some lead (undersized) and work my way up to at least a supersonic load.

Running an undersized jacketed bullet (.264 my Italian vet gauges at .268) will have more pressure then a cast lead and lubed of the same size. The barrels only sleeved in place.

Didn't they use the same Tubata method they used on the Carcano? I haven't heard of any Carcani having issues with the sleeve. I understand the chamber pressure issue. But the Carcano does fine with the Italian method of sleeving a bore

I was selling a semi sporterized M1917. Only thing wrong with it is that the previous owner had tried to take off the sight ears, and the long range sight is gone. I have a bunch of offers in northern virginia, but I would have been happy to sell to a local /k/ommando instead.

What was R Guns charging for a Yugo M48? I ask because I live nearby and they still have 15 or so, which aren't listed on their site, for $250.
