Is the Marine Corps still as prestigious as it was twenty years ago?
>be marine
>gunny screams at me
>cry and say im trans
>get promoted and a purple heart
It was never prestigious or elite, they just have the best PR of all the branches.

they got the only really shitty and glorious battle of Iraq and afghanistan to play in the media like it was only them. So yeah they preserved their prestige in the marine corp way

Keating was some of the nastiest shit in the WoT though

In the hierarchy of military dudes they rank the highest, so when navy dudes get on their fucking high horse you can remind them that they're just fags on a boat jerking each other off while real men protect our freedom.
I hold them in high regard because they often times end up deep in the shit and I have a deep resentment for military paper pushers who want me on my knees sucking cock for "all they've done" as they shriek military jargon that they know that I don't know. Also a friend of mine is a retired Marine who did cool tank shit so I'm a little biased

The USMC hasn't been legitimately "prestigious" since the pacific campaigns in dubya dubya 2, and even then they were outplayed in the boat soldier role by regular infantry.
Two decades ago they were arguably at their low point, but you wouldn't have known that thanks to Stormin Normin stealing all the cameras while his marines didn't do shit compared to the soldiers fighting running battles in open desert against the RGFC.

>Be in navy, its the weekend
>Decide to do man stuff like go shoot guns and pick parts at a junkyard
>Go without asking anyone for permission
>Marine guys are stuck on base cause they have a buddy system
>They have to suck staff Sargent dick to do anything.
>>34585079
>prestigious
Good choice of words.
Almost thought you're going to pair Marines with something stupid like "well trained," "combat-effective" or even "useful."
>>34585143
>be a fucked up unit
>get shit pushed in by enemy forces
It's almost like there's a correlation between how bad you are at things and how much you suck at them compared to others.
If you wanna murder sand niggers for a living and have the tenacity to put yourself through hell to do so, then you should probably go for something in SOCOM rather than eating crayons

Why is it that the window lickers can never handle the bantz?

The only brach of the military that actually protects America or Americans is the Coast Guard.
I was in 2005-2009, Afghan/Iraq muhreen Infantry and old time Marines have nothing but praise for us. Same for Army guys even Vietnam Vets.
We always kill more of them than they do of us, if that's "prestigious".

Same story

>hold them in high regard because they often times end up deep in the shit
So you like combat arms, which is in no way exclusive to the Marines and you're also under the illusion that America has needed any defending in the past 80 years. Unless you count all the posturing of the cold war, waving our collective dick and sticking our noses in other people's business isn't the same as defense
>>34585948
Congrats, you were in at the time when there was actually something to do instead of patrolling dirt.
The USs whole "modern" career is about killing more of them than they kill of do of us. Don't know if I would call Vietnam prestigious
Any idiot should be able to see that It's all propaganda. This is true for most "elite" fighting forces. Doesn't mean it's not useful, though.
