It's more in line with the old Punisher MAX books, it's likely to play alongside Punisher MAX Born and lead into 2000/2001 Punisher MAX (1-60), where he is indeed an older guy, like in his 50s when he's doing most of his fighting.

Frank is a mass/serial killer I hate when they keep going back and re-doing origin stories. probably most reference images artists are looking at have the safety on, so I kind of excuse it as I don't really expect artists to know much aside from how to draw well, that said it is annoying and if firearms are a central part in the work, I feel the artist(s) should do some research
