Because 1911's aren't practical for EDC. Weight capacity and size ratios are all wrong. To say nothing of reliability. You could carry a BHP or hell, a CZ97 and be better off in capacity and reliability without trading away the metal frame, weight and full size. 1911s are fun, I own one, but there are better choices for EDC literally everywhere.

Largely I agree, though I think weight is slightly exaggerated and easily handled with a suitable holster.

That said, the 1911 is relatively thin, which some prefer for CC as they feel that's easier to carry than a stubby but fat gun.
