Are those really your criteria, or are you just describing that gun?
>>
>>34580812
I was describing it. I think the 2022 is the best bang for buck gun now on the market, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
>>
>>34580779
The SP2022 is a severely underrated firearm. It will be a fine first purchase.
>>
>Sig
In name only. You don't get the price down to $350 without breaking a few eggs, or tipping over a few dominoes, or toppling a few houses of cards. What I'm saying is it's way worse than a full price SIG, but you probably knew that.
You're also buying at a markup since production has stopped, obviously.

>>34580864
Is it really so underrated if everyone says it's underrated?
>>
>>34580779
I've seen these go as low as $350 not too long ago, for black friday sales. I don't know if they will ever be that cheap again but it might be worth waiting. I was seriously considering getting one when I started getting into guns but the magazines were really expensive back then. That may have changed now. Honestly, I think it's a fantastic gun for the money and severely underrated and overlooked on here.
>>
>>34580908

A significant amount of the money is because they switched from a metal frame to polymer.

It's a fantastic pistol, I've had one for a couple years now and never had an issue.
>>
>>34580779
Thank you OP for not being a retard and getting a p320. Smart choice
>>
>>34580950
Not a huge fan of striker fired guns (I have a soft spot for the P99 though)

Also not my aesthetic
>>
The frogs love them.
Basically it's either this or the PX4 Storm for da/sa polymer 9s unless you want to pony up the gbp for a usp or p30.

OP go for it but please don't get it in this hideous dog diahrrea Brown.

>also check out the px4 (it has a g decocker only version)
>>
>>34580779
Beretta PX4 Storm is only about $400 right now and is all that the SP2022 is and maybe more, since Beretta didn't specifically design it to be a budget pistol.
>>
>>34581109
Too curvy for me.

I also took a good look at the CZ P07 but i fear it might be too "plasticy". I know the 2022 is polymer but the P07 looks like it could break if you drop it.
>>
>>34581151
>since Beretta didn't specifically design it to be a budget pistol.
Where are you getting this from? I thought the Sig Pro was designed for the law enforcement market.
>>
>>34581185
>Where are you getting this from?
/k/. Where else would I get information about guns?
>>
>>34581164
Honestly if you look online there are a lot of problems with p07. They're also way less aesthetic.

The sig pro is a proven design adopted by many police agencies and a military or two. The price difference between it and the p229 comes down to the cost efficiency of polymer - not some lack of inherent quality
>>
>>34580779
Good choice. Great gun all around, sig purists hate it because it's reasonably priced and poly framed. I mean, who would want a lighter weight cheaper sig that doesnt sacrifice reliability or accuracy?

Only real knocks against it are that it's slightly large for it's capacity(iirc) and it has less aftermarket support then some more common guns.

That being said i personally think id like a P07 more but I just tend to like how CZs fit in the hand compared to sigs.
>>
>>34581164
>break if you drop it
Protip: it won't
T. P-07/P-09 owner
>>
>>34580779
>I'm pretty set on this gun but is there anything I am missing?

They can be had for high 300's and low 400's new on slickguns.

Check out some police trade in Sigs at Sportsmanoutdoor. P220 series Sigs have more aftermarket such as the short reset kit, Grayguns adjustable trigger, Hogue G10 grips, E2 grips and P226 magazines cost $20 new off 44mag. SP2022 magazines go for $30-$35.

>>34581203
I'm a pretty big Sig snob but I don't hate on the SP2022 at all, it's a good gun that does its job quite well but I think the P229 is an overall better gun for someone who may want to go deeper in on Sigs. Hell, I like the P250 and roll my eyes whenever people shit on it in favor of the P320 which is also a good gun.

OP, check out the P07/P09, PX4/PX4 Compact. Don't make judgments on a gun based on how they look or how chintzy they look. I was always skeptical about the PX4 Compact but my PX4 Compact Carry is an absolutely amazing shooting gun with a trigger that breaks at the same place on DA and SA, making transitions from triggers effortless to manage.
>>
I got a used P229 in .40 caliber with DA/SA trigger last month for $350 on Gunbroker. The gun was in cosmetically excellent condition, with a little wear on the barrel, nothing serious. Deals do exist, but you might as well buy a new gun if it's your first one, so that way you have a warranty.
>>
>>34580779

Have you shot guns before? If not, you really need a .22 handgun to practice.

Also, get something striker fired. DA/SA is outdated. Cool, but outdated.
>>
>>34582537
>implying 9mm is a bad caliber to start with
any skills you learn from shooting a single action only, lightweight, no recoil .22 will not translate to a real handgun. It's completely pointless to waste training time and money on a .22 pistol
>>
>Have you shot guns before? If not, you really need a .22 handgun to practice.

This. Don't blow your cash, but a Ruger or Buckmark will give you the fundimentals of pistol marksmanship. You can get a can for a Buckmark easier if that's your thing, and they are good for some types of matches.

>Also, get something striker fired. DA/SA is outdated. Cool, but outdated.

I agree with this, but I learned recoil control with a Model 19. I don't see any reason why you want DA/SA for a fighting gun.

Cohen is a former ceo from freedom group who came over to Exeter to cut quality and increase profitability. I forget the year he came on but it was right before they started having tons of qc issues that have slowly dissipated since.
>>
>>34588851
>HURR DURR THIS POLYMER LOOKS LIKE PLASTIC
Handgun "polymer" is roughly 80% nylon plastic though, and the ratio of nylon to carbon fiber and glass greatly affects durability and temperature or UV light resistance. Something looking "more plasticy" can be a legitimate bad sign, like the infamous SQUISHY SQUISHY, which was found to have come from a bad batch of polymer FN recalled.

They all look "plasticy". It's just a characteristic of polymer. A lot of the companies keep the specifications of their polymer compounds a secret and you'll have a difficult problem figuring out which polymer is stronger just by looks alone.
