I'd look into a nice preban.
You can still find Norincos for ~$2k.
If you want a new rifle only, Arsenal is about the only name on the block with all the sanctions.
And they are busy "filling government contracts" so don't expect to see them until next year.

The only current production AK's that are importable that are worth getting are the WASR and SLR 107R. Hopefully Radom will come in and expand that list to give us more options.

HK's facility in Georgia will probably be open before that Radom plant even breaks ground.

Of you have to spend more than 700 online or marked up at the lgs, both bother and find something used for around 500, despite what any fucking idiot fanboy tells you, no ak is worth quad digits fucking ever, fuck off with economic markup shenanigans too.

At the upper end of 2000, I would get a new-old-stock SGL 21 or 31, some unfired examples usually kicking around on gunbroker if you're patient

Or just go with an arsenal like I did, you won't regret it.
