Seems like a pretty bad deal to me. I see them in the $400 range lightly used all the time.

I was under the impression that this model (R I believe?) without the rails is much harder to find. I also like the look of it more. Regardless, I have had my eye out for one and have yet to come across one in over a year, Louisiana.

No rail? That's pretty good. Mine has a rail but I still shoot it as often as I can. Everyone I let shoot it prefer it over my Glock and revolver.

I bought mine 10 years ago $499 brand new. They were just being imported by MR and people scoffed at the "babby igle" stamp on it. I didn't care and got a really nice gun out of it. It's really heavy though, more than a loaded 1911.

Yeah I hate the Desert Eagle stamp, would much prefer it say Jericho 941, thats a badass name for a pistol anyway. And you are right about the weight, heavy as all hell, but to me it feels so right.
