Do real soliders use extendos or is it more a gang thing?
>>
Real soldiers dont use pistols as a rule. I once saw a 240 gunner with one but I think that he was just a random outlier.
>>
>>34574276
Even trying to be quiet, room to room? I thought some had handguns with suppressors or is that just movies?
>>
>>34574308
They use there m4 with a 14 inche barrel
>>
>>34574339
Wouldn't that be a lot louder and longer?
>>
>>34574253
Pistols aren't even issued to everyone.
>>
>>34574253
extendos tend to have shitty springs and therefore are shitty unreliable mags. You will see some race guns at competition with some slight extendos since it's a game and not life-or-death.

Military is life-or-death. Has to function reliably 100% of the time. Stock mags only.
>>
>>34574353
Unless youre in some super dooper sneaky squirrel unit doing some sneaky beaky shit, chances are youre going into that house expecting enemies in the house. So its not exactly going to matter how loud your rifle is, because chances are the enemy wont have suppressors anyway, and even if they did, breaching and clearing a house isnt exactly quiet, especially in the middle of a firefight.

Real life isnt like CoD4 kiddo.
>>
>>34574408
Glock OEM are good
>>
The only people I EVER saw carry a sidearm in the military were MPs, comissioned officers, vehicle crewmen, and very rarely SNCOs
>>
>>34574253
What mag is that? Only extendo i could find for my G21 was sgm.
>>
>>34574438
saw and 240 guys usually get them, nowadays pog-types like truck drivers etc just get carbines like everyone else.
>>
>>34574253
Soldiers don't use pistols. High-level officers or desk support who will never leave a base sometimes have them. Tankers and helicopter pilots and other people who will never leave their vehicle while fighting sometimes have them.

>but what if your gun jams
Then you fix it.

>but what if your gun jams, and it's while you're inside a room with the enemy
Then you take a knee while your three buddies who are clearing the same room kill him.

>>but what if your gun jams, and it's while you're inside a room with the enemy, and the other soldiers clearing it are all dead
Then you tackle him to the ground and try to kill him unarmed, but mainly just buy time until the other soldiers right outside the room come in and stick a 14.5" barrel in his ear and get brains on your face.
>>
Pistols are probably the most worthless weapon you could have in an actual gun fight.
>>
>>34574308
Each platoon had 2 M9s. Usually go to either 240 gunners or the PL/PSG so they can look cool on the FOB
>>
>>34574424
suppressors are not for sneaky, they're for saving your ears a little. they're still loud.
>>
What about supressors?
>>
>>34574253
>extendo clipz

You a gang thang, anon.

Supposedly 240s and mortar crews can get them, but in practice no-one is going to carry that. Pistols are useless.

Rifles are a backup weapon. GPMGs and HE do the killing.
>>
>>34574518
Fuck I should have just looked up one post
>>
>>34574475
>High-level officers or desk support who will never leave a base sometimes have them.

And the only reason for this is it's mandatory to have a firearm on you at all times.

A buddy of mine got chewed out the second he came out of the shitter because he left his rifle back at his bunk.

Same buddy also blew the blank adapter off his rifle with live ammo because he forgot it was on there.

Same buddy also ND'd into the bang bucket outside the barracks.

He really shouldn't have been there.
>>
>>34574541
>bang bucket
??
>>
>>34574550
He came in a hooker.
>>
>>34574550
Bucket full of sand, to safely discharge firearms in.
>>
>>34574541

My grandfather had once told me how 1911's were very hotly traded around on his airbase in Korea in the 50's, because FUCK carrying rifles but you needed a weapon.
>>
>>34574438

And the medics.
>>
>>34574514
And they make the gunshot harder to locate.
>>
>>34574308
>Even trying to be quiet, room to room?

if I had a 240 there would be no such thing as quiet, or room to room

you sit outside and light the entire place up
>>
>>34574567
but why?
>>
>>34574640
>to safely discharge firearms in
To safely discharge firearms in you fucking retard
>>
>>34574640
You point the gun into the bucket before ejecting the mag and clearing the rifle just in case you ND. Better than having dozens of guys standing next to each other just clearing their rifles.
>>
>>34574606
No, regular medics are forbidden from carrying weapons and must be clearly marked as non combatants

However combat medics, combat surgeons, PJs, and people with life saving training, can and do carry weapons, and they carry carbines.
>>
>>34574514
Thats exactly my point. Combat is inherently loud, so creeping around with a suppressed pistol is massively unrealistic.

>>
>>34574308
A Glock 19 is about 160 dB. It's loud as shit.
>>
>>34574514
Suppressors help mask your firing position. They're most definitely for being sneaky in a combat zone, don't get it twisted with the domestic image everyone is trying to idealize to get them off the NFA.
>>
>>34574475
pretty much every E7 and above in the Army had a pistol after OIF3. All MP's carry them and most tankers and tracked vehicle gunners/commanders also carry them.
>>
>>34574702
Our medics carried M9s
>>
>>34574253
Soldier here, in a deployed setting not everyone has a side arm. And the ones that do don't use extended mags. On the outside for shtf I have a glock 21 and have extended magazines available but it wouldn't be what I carry it with.
>>
Tbh I would imagine theres gotta be at least one seal or marsoc dude carrying a glock brand stendo for his Glock.
I've seen pictures of spetznaz with drums for their Makarovs too. Kinda doubt they actually use them outisde of urban stuff
>>
>>34574737
I have to imagine dropping some 115 dB subsonic suppressed 9mm inside a building will draw a lot less attention than popping off 5.56 from a carbine barrel.
>>
>>34574762
Bullshit. If they carried weapons they would have carried rifles.
>>
>>34574803
Of course. But using it on a rifle changes the game. Ask anyone who has been in any combat zone, urban or forrested. The hardest part is identifying WHERE you're being engaged from, 200m can feel like 2miles in urban environments. Add a supressors to that equation and it's even more complicated
>>
>>34574803
The convey of MRAPs and uparmored Humvees with Mark19s and .50cals cordoning off the block draws all the attention you need, anon.

In Afghanland they see you driving down the single road to the village from 8 miles away.
>>
>>34574253
The Army should issue fucking .32 ACP pistols for how much fucking use they actually get. Why bother carrying a full sized M9 when it's really just there for badge of rank or sitting in an office.
>>
>>34574541
how do you ND into something you're supposed to shoot into?
>>
>>34574853
You're supposed to clear your weapon first numbnuts.
>>
>>34574807
Wrong. Doc here. Pistols are ok according to Geneva convention but if your enemy obviously doesn't follow the Geneva convention then you carry a rifle just like everyone else. Soon as you pick a rifle all rules that protect you as a medic go out the window.
>>
>>34574441
Maybe its the kriss frankenstein thing or promag.
>>
>>34574550

>>
>>34574876
CLS took care of that problem for the Army. Rifleman medic assistant essentially.

You're not supposed to actually shoot into it. You're supposed to point your unloaded weapon into it and pull the trigger on an empty chamber. If you actually put a bullet into the bucket you've fucked up.
>>
>>34574408
Tell that to CAG/Delta with their +2 Glocks in .40 SW. Chew on that one.
>>
>>34574803
>I have to imagine dropping some 115 dB subsonic suppressed 9mm inside a building will draw a lot less attention than popping off 5.56 from a carbine barrel.
Perhaps on paper, but not in any meaningful capacity. Remember dbs are logarithmic, so 115 is still like 4x as loud as somebody revving their engine next to you.
>>
>>34575304
Delta can do whatever they want. There's a difference between open combat and super stealthy Delta shit. Half of the things Delta does never officially happened, anyway.
>>
>>34574737

They allow you to use really big guns indoors
>>
>>34574529
>HE does the killing
Oh fuck who's he??
>>
>>34574640
remember the part of the gun safety rules that has something like "safe direction" in it? the bucket of sand provides a "safe direction" when you're inside a building

Only if they're big boys.
>>

The geneva convention allows medics to carry a weapon to protect their own life or life of their patients from immediate harm. There is no distiction of what is ok and what isn't.

Not for our medics. They carry a big gun like everyone else. For self defense, which is a right too, in every country of this world. I mean, if some faggot shoots at you although you are clearly marked out as a medic, he's a war criminal, so shooting him in turn is fine, just so long as you don't shoot him first.

The only time I have seen a pistol use was on very low profile asset protection during the meet n greet from the vehicle.

So, body guard type driver carrying, I believe a fully auto 9mm, might have been a glock. Another member had a TMP. but that was just what you could hide in a suit.
>>
>>34574606
Designated medics cannot carry a weapon. and often ware red crosses.

A soldier whom may also be a Dr or field medic, who will have any level of medical training, may carry a weapon, but will most likely carry the standard rifle.
>>
No. If they were willing to make their handgun bigger they'd carry a carbine instead.

>>34574276
Gunners, medical, and a few others can opt to carry one instead of an M4. Most don't because it's seen as a bitch move and military handguns aren't known for their quality.
