Friend dented my ak dust cover so he got me a "new" one with shitty rails on it. After much bending and filing i got it to fit, but what is the point of these screws? Should i bother? I guess they're for stability but i have no optic and it makes it sit really high
Pic related, the screws

I think* it's to tighten down to keep it from wiggling around
Picture of fit with screws not tightened
Picture of fit with screws tightened, there's a much bigger gap now, should i be concerned?
>>34571430
I guessed as much but i guess the real question is should i be concerned about how tightening the screws creates a gap

Jesus fucking christ, anon. Just buy a new, non-shitty dust cover. You don't need rails all over it, and you definitely don't need to be worrying about screws.
>dust cover
It's literally a piece of stamped steel that's ENTIRE PURPOSE in life is to keep dust, your fingers, your sandwiches, and other debris out of the action during firing. It wasn't made for fucking optics.

If all it is is stamped steel for keeping dust out, why does it matter if it has rails or not and was free?
>>34571492
Because you're posting threads about it on /k/ bitching and asking about some random bullshit screws that are no doubt a result of some half-assed, unreliable jury rigging in order to get your shitty bushnell red dot to keep zero on your shitty dust cover rail. Not to mention it looks like hammered dogshit.
Here. twelve bucks plus shipping for a normal dust cover for normal AKs.

This belongs in QTDDTOT. A thread died for this.

Apparently you missed the part where i said "i'm not using optics"
>>34571598
even if your not using optics the rails are a huge annoyance
