WASR vs N-PAP

Why?
>>
>>34567929
wasr
>>
>>34567929
WASR. Zastava QC doesn't exist.
>>
WASR. Modern WASR's are fuckin good firearms
>>
>>34567929
3 years ago the response would have been unanimously N-Pap
What changed, /k/?
>>
WASR, Zastava's QC has kinda gone to pot. Ironic considering they were shitting all over the WASR initially.
>>
WASR
>>34568025
I never said any different.
Maybe 1 in 5 wasrs had something wrong with it and it rarely affected the function.
Easy/cheap parts changing and modularity is a strong suit with akm patterns especially now.
The npap isnt the same.
>>
>>34568025
The new WASR-10s managed to be consistently great, even moreso than the older WASR-10/63 which was already a major upgrade over the original WASR-10.

Zastava started getting complacent and doing shit like sending out rifles with improperly heat treated components.
>>
WASR because standard furniture. Don't listen to the tards who claim NPAPs have improper heat treating it's a lie.
>>
>>34568025

WASR improved drastically about 5 years ago and it took a few years for the reputation to rise

All those peening bolt lugs and FCG axis pin hole eggings say otherwise.

Yeah it was around early '15 I started seeing this kind of thing being reported. I wonder if they ever fixed the issue...

WASR because that's my first and only AK thusfar
>>
Anyone care to give me an opinion on a wasr vs. An arsenal? I would like to just spend the extra cash for the Arsenal, but I can't find one. I see new wasrs in the $650-770 range
>>
>>34567929
Buy someone's unconverted saiga and convert it. You will learn a lot about the rifle in the process.

Just get the wasr.
>>34568818
Whats it like in 2010...i forget
>>
Currently you can get an n-pap for under $500, and century has a rebate bringing the price to like $440. With that in mind, would you guys consider it a good buy then, or is it still worth spending the extra $150-$250 or so for a WASR?
>>
What I don't understand is why someone hasn't started assembling M70 parts kits and selling them, unless someone has and I just don't know about it.
>>
Way back when I first got on /k/ in 2011 everyone told me to get an N pap and avoid a WASR. For whatever reason I decided to not listen to /k/ and bought myself a WASR for 350. Around that time WASR was stepping their QC way up had a pretty solid starter AK. I had my best friend buy a N PAP last year and the fuckin gas lever wasn't even installed. It was non existent.
I've heard other negative things from people at ranges like wood that wasn't sanded and gave splinters, stock screws completely stripped, bent recoil springs, and fucked up bolts

Question for some of you fags: I saved a substantial amount of money for a new AK and was wondering about getting a Krebs custom. Worth the money? I was looking at dropping 2k on an AK and parts
>>
>>34568818
>Saiga conversions
Whoa, anyone else just get hit by a nostalgia wave?
>>
>>34569321
>getting a Krebs custom. Worth the money?
absolutely, also Rifle Dynamics too
>>
>>34567929
WASR. TBQH i used to be in the NPAP camp but over the years they've had some problems of a more serious nature than the newer WASRs seem to.

1. improved QC means classic WASR issues are almost non existent.

2. standard furniture

3. lighter weight(atleast than 1.5mm variants)

4. Don't tend to beat themselves apart and occasionally catastrophically fail.

>>34569195
Id save. Buy once cry once. Besides, imho a lot of the AKMs appeal is due to it's reputation for just working
>>
>>34568191
That fucking SVD rail. That FUCKING rail. I don't know why the fuck they couldn't have been like every other fucking AK manufacturer and used the standard mount.
>>

>That fucking SVD rail. That FUCKING rail. I don't know why the fuck they couldn't have been like every other fucking AK manufacturer and used the standard mount.
Because they're retards. AK tooting, kebab removing, vodka drinking, adidas jumpsuit wearing, retarded slavs.
>>
>>34569840
I think those dipshits expected everyone who wanted to put glass on their product to use a PSO. That'd also explain that retarded comb on the buttstock.

i have an n-pap
the machinist that did the bore did not blow the metal chips out of the barrel before it was shipped and i had to drift the front sight drastically to the right to sight it in . All that being said it has run without any problems and all the parts look top notch but I'm quessing the QC is indeed lacking because of the aforementioned things
>>
>>34569522
Any optics you'd recommend? I was looking to get a PA 1-6x for 5.45
>>
Are the QC issues limited to the N-PAP or are all Zastava products suffering? Is the M-70 a different/better rifle or is it the same as the N-PAP? I vaguely recall someone saying that the M-70 is usually built to higher standards. Or maybe I'm confusing it with something else.
>>
>>34568191
>all those
>there's one example of it out there
>>
>>34570042
The chips in the bore was done by century, it happens with WASRs too.

Anyone know why Cugir got their shit together while Zastava dropped the ball?

I heard the Serbs used to make the best underfolders but is this true anymore? Does anyone make a halfway decent underfolder these anymore or everyone's gone to side folders?
>>
>>34567929
WASR's are a meme gun. I had one and it had a shit extractor. I would never trust my life to a WASR.
>>
>>34567929
Someone had posted a 5 or 10k round report on his npap a year or two ago. Had pictures of cracking furniture and parts falling apart. His biggest complaint was the handguard and stock cracking apart already.

When the deadline before new gun laws was coming in CA the only thing I could buy was an N-PAP, as everything else was either out of my price range or sold out.

What should I swap, fix, or do to make sure it lasts?

I think Century outfits all of their imported rifles with shitty beech wood furniture anyways so even with the WASR you aren't getting away from that.

My WASR had wood so shit i could dent the wood by puahing on it with a knuckle and I just got some polymer furniture.
>>
>>34572574
Buy spare parts. Firing pin, hammer, trigger, springs, magazine springs etc. Nothing lasts forever, and an AK is no exception.

>>

Not worth it for what you get imo. Get an arsenal or Definitive Arms and use the left over money for mags and ammo, or save it.
>>
>>34569321
BRO, BUY A RIFLE DYNAMICS BRAND AK FROM JIM FULLERSHIT
>>
>>34568025
because 3 years ago serbia memes were in full swing and wasr was the cheapest AK you could get while the zastava guns were still new to the market. now they are more commonplace and the shit quality control came to light.

>>34570817
i bought a m92 and m85 about 4 years back and they both had canted rear sight blocks, which means the whole dust cover is crooked. this was apparently very commonplace, and still happens.
>>

>>
>>34571137
But the fact remains is that normal ak mounts won't fit, you have to get a svd mount to use optics

Well, the one NPAP i had 5yrs ago was good so that means they're all gtg and everybody else is a liar.

>>34572574
Furniture and checking general fitment of parts/sight alignment. the serious problems people seem to have(namely unusual wear) are likely metallurgical and there won't be much you can do if your gun has them other than maybe try to get them to fix/replace it.

>>34573080
did saigas become shit too when i wasn't looking? they used to be the best iirc.

Get bent, those claims were basically all about the carrier tail getting mushed, which was a result of the G2 trigger hammer. The first people who brought it up noticed on NPAPs so everyone just assumed it was an NPAP problem.

Literally any other AK bolt doesn't have this problem. The heat treatment issues for the components and receiver were well documented. Stop being an idiot (fucking newfag).

YGSIU son. The rifle survived Rob Skis test.

By the way my Bulgarian kit and my saiga both have had their tails peened by a G2 hammer.

>>

I live in Fagifornia and the only thing I could get before the ban was an N-PAP. I like it, have only had 1 FTF and that was ammo related.

I would have preferred the WASR, but I think 9/10 the biggest difference is the WASR takes standard AK furniture and the NPAP doesn't.
>>
>>34579584
>The rifle survived Rob Skis test.
It was rendered nonfunctional from a drop test...that warped the receiver...something proper heat treating should easily prevent
