I collect trench art, mostly artillery shells.
I find it truly fascinating trying to imagine the hell the artist may have been going through and how this may have helped.

Here's a couple of shells I picked up at a market in Paris a few years ago.
It'd be great if any anons can tell me more about the shells themselves

Bottom of shell with the bird.

>>34566647
Bottom of the other one. It's smaller diameter than the bird one, but the bottom is pretty marked up from whatever the soldier was hammering it on so I'm not sure about the date and caliber

>>34566630
What size are they? Do you have something for scale?
>>34566723
12" scale rule and 5.56 for scale
Shell on far right is about 3 3/8" diameter at the rim

105mm?
Been a while, i'll go dig out a 105 casing and check
>>34572453
my only guess is 105, there were a few french guns in that calibre around that time. Some others in 155 may have had casings made at the time as well, but I don't think the diameter is right.

It looks like he took a pistol from or machine gun grip and bolted it to the rifle as a T grip.
Then he welded two magazines together to form one super mag
