Why does width matter when the Glock 19 has a much more inferior trigger reach than the USPc? The USP also doesn't fuck my thumb knuckle like the Glock does. It also doesn't have those atrocious finger grooves.

The Zev isn't drop-safe.
Consider a NY2 trigger spring and 25¢ trigger job; it's really a lot better than you'd expect.
>>
>>34568563
If the glock hurts your thumb knuckle use a backstrap with more beavertail. Gen 4s include them. 2 generations of glocks dont have finger grooves (possibly soon to be 3) and 2 do. And idk what trigger reach is but usp triggers are shit. Ill take a light, consistant, easily stageable striker trigger with a great reset over a long, heavy, uneven double action any day.

I don't own a full size USP, but I can compare a Glock with a USP Compact. The USPC slide is noticeably thicker than the Glock slide, but the Glock grip is thicker than the USPC grip by a hair. Weight is about 4 ounces different between my Glock 23 and USP40C, with the USP40C being that much heavier. Recoil feels pretty similar to me with both guns. Both are extremely controllable pistols with a medium recoil impulse and very little muzzle flip. By comparison, a Sig P229-40 that I used to own had a lot more muzzle flip and had a stronger perceived recoil impulse than either, despite weighing 8 ounces more than the Glock 23.

Comparing my Glock 23 to my USP40C with my calipers just now,
>USP40C: 1.138" (slide), 1.164" (frame)
>Glock 23: 1.005" (slide), 1.182" (frame)

The USPC is 1.272" wide measured at the slide catch (my USP lacks a safety, which would probably be even wider), but the controls on any gun are small enough to be inconsequential in such a comparison.

I would say that they are close enough in overall width and size for it to not matter for carry. The weight is more important, but not a huge difference between the two. Capacity is 1 different. The main difference is what kind of trigger do you want.
>>
I just want to round up every glock and throw them into a volcano. Fuck that shitty company and its products. Gaston Glock is a pedophile.
>>
>>34571039
:^)

Ironically, the opposite is happening more or less as other manufacturers consolidate around glock knockoffs like the PPQ, P320, APX, VP9, M&P, XD, etc. and their other product lines are discontinued. Soon there will be only glock.
>>
>>34568563
>Why does width matter when the Glock 19 has a much more inferior trigger reach than the USPc?
Again, I can only compare a USPC with LEM trigger, but if I measure each trigger pulled back to the breaking point with the caliper measuring the shortest point between the rear of the grip and the front of the trigger....

>USP40c trigger reach: 2.43"
>Glock 23 (gen4) trigger reach: 2.68"

Is it different, yes. Is it different enough to matter for the average person, I just don't think so. I've even heard that people with large hands don't like the USP trigger reach for the fact that it travels so far and breaks so far back in the trigger guard because they have to adjust their finger too much during the travel. For context, the USPC trigger reach is 2.81" at full forward extension, which would be about where you start the pull in double action on a DA/SA set up pistol, so it has more travel distance than the Glock trigger.

For further context, my Sig P220 trigger reach, with the short reach/skinny trigger, measures about 3" at full forward extension of the double action pull and 2.5" at the single action breaking point.

>>
>>34571240
The grips are some kind of east European polymer, feels like hard rubber. Easy enough to slip on, and fits tight. Can't really remove them without stretching them out of shape.

Comfort's a personal thing. I think they make the Tok grip feel long and narrow, kind of like a CZ52. The beaver tail does keep hammer bite away, if that was ever an issue for you.

To be honest, If I ever get a Tokarev without the shitty import safety, I think I'd go with Marschal instead. Those things are just too damn pretty.

I've owned around 70 pistols (usually only ever had 10-20 at a time) over the course of the past 5 years, buying and selling about a gun a month to try out owning as many guns as I could. If you buy guns used, they tend to retain their value when you go to sell them, so it wasn't a hugely expensive endeavor and while I did lose some money, it wasn't much.

I've owned Sigs, HKs, Smith and Wessons, RIAs, Kahrs, CZs, Colts, Brownings, a Walther, a Savage, a Desert Eagle and probably a few others that I'm forgetting. The one exception is Beretta and I honestly can't explain why I never owned, or even shot one, but I've handled them at gun stores and they never really clicked for me. After recently purging my collection down to only 5 handguns and then shortly thereafter coming into a little bit of money, I've come back to Glocks to fill in the gaps. It's just hard to beat them for a lot of reasons.

They're incredibly easy for me to shoot well. I don't know why, but even though I'll occasionally pull a shot when shooting a Sig or HK, but I can put all the bullets right through the bullseye when I'm shooting a Glock without even trying, even with the 10mm. Cheap magazines are also a huge benefit, and the availability of factory high capacity magazines is also an amazing thing. With HK, you can get a 30 round factory magazine for the USP, but it costs $150, and that's if you can even find it in stock - aftermarket 30 round magazines for HKs are also expensive, in the $80 range. With Glock, you can get 33 round magazines anywhere and they cost less than $30. I actually prefer the Glock grip angle as well. I think it helps me lock my wrist a little better, which contributes to stability, recoil management and getting the gun back on target more quickly. What is there to complain about?

That being said, Glock's have lent themselves well to the artistic designs of their owners to a higher and better degree than any other modern firearm (I think Shotguns and certain Revolvers started and still lead the trend).

So while I don't think they're aesthetic, they are one of the top magazine fed (and certainly polymer framed magazine fed) handguns for expressing yourself with.

I don't know if that's a pro or a con.

John Browning did all of these things before the VP70 and he did them better. Other gun designers also did them well. The only thing the VP70 brought to the table was being made out of plastic.

>>
>>34579828
Its about having everything all in one package you stupid cunt. The concept of a polymer high cap striker fired handgun did not begin with the glock 17. Therefore the vp9, p320, etc. are not just glock copies.

That being said I personally wouldn't want one
The bore axis isn't even that low (my mistake).
>>
>>34579876
What's the point of the "package" that the VP70 was if the thing was too impractical to be used for any actual purpose.
>trigger like a stapler
>almost 6 inches tall
>disgusting crossbolt safety where the magazine release should be
>magazine release located at the end of the grip
>quirky iron sights nobody liked
>>
>>34579933
5.6 inches tall with 18 round capacity is fairly standard

That being you should re read my post: I'm not saying that the vp70 is better than a glock or even good just that anon's claim that all polymer double stack striker guns are "glocks" is bullshit since the vp70 predated the design by 12 years
>>
>>34579976
Why would anyone want to copy a gun design that didn't sell, though? Just because it had these specs and came first does not mean that modern gun designers are copying it. They're copying the Glock.
>>
>>34580004
For one thing hk produced 30,000 Vp70s.

Your statement is incorrect because GLOCK didn't invent the concept. Just because they were early to the party doesn't mean latecomers like Sig are copying Glock.

What concept? Using polymer as a major component of the frame of a firearm? HK didn't invent that either. See the Remington Nylon 66.

>POLYMER STRIKER FIRED HIGH CAPACITY PISTOL

>Yes HK invented the idea

>Yes glock copied it

>Yes Gaston was able to IMPROVE upon it, but his design was in no way revolutionary.

P320s, VP9s, and PPQs are not glock copies

That's enough 4chan for you, go jerk off to BBC porn and then off to bed sonny

HK didn't invent any of those concepts, though.

>"im not even saying that it's good"

Also Wakefield didn't invent the cookie or the chocolate chip but she did invent the chocolate chip cookie. If you can't understand that a design can be revolutionary though it's individual parts are not then you're a fucking retard

>>

Good God that stipple job is sexy.

The only thing I don't like about Glocks are longslides, the hognose effect, and the fact I haven't changed my sights yet.

That being said P30s/45s are my favorite overall, including aesthetics.
