Over the years, I found that ramen with some added protein like eggs or tuna will sit well for hiking or working out if i let it settle for an hour.
Otherwise: coffee before hiking, Clif bars and/or cheese sandwiches or MRE food items like snacks and sweets and powdered EmergenC for electrolytes on hot days and 3+ hours outdoors.

Actual former innawoods oper8tor here (there were greentexts a while back) I start my day of observation, stalking, evasion, and ambush with a hand rolled cigarette. Then I move onto making the coffee, as the water heats to a boil, I chew the bark of a Black Birch twig to get at the green layer. I peel off the green layer, and steep it into the black coffee for a delicious slight mint taste and analgesic properties. I then take a dollop of bacon drippins, toss it into a hot skillet, and throw in corn bread chunks. I eat the fried cornbread chunks hot out of the skillet. I throw a carrot, a hunk of cheese (pic related), and some hard sausage into a bandanna, tie it up, then put that in a pocket, grab my Security Six and Marlin, and walk up the mountain looking for trouble.
