Is it worth the fucking thousand dollar price tag?
>>
>>34561263
If you wanna LARP Blade Runner, Trigun, or as Togusa from GitS

yes
>>
>>34561263
Bought one last month. It's my first revolver, and I've only shot with it once, but fuck is it fun to shoot. I shot single action the whole time. .38 special had literally no recoil, .357 is a different story, and after shooting 2 boxes your hand does feel it.

It's currently my favorite gun I own.
>>
>>34561282
Heard the trigger pull sucks, what do you think of it?
>>
>>34561277
>Blade Runner, Trigun, or as Togusa from GitS

This piece of shit gun isn't in any of those franchises.
>>
>>34561293
It's the closest thing outside of a kit you're gonna get to the Blade Runner gun

the revolvers in Trigun and that Togusa uses aren't real, but are based on the Mateba, as this is
This is going to be easier to get than a Mateba too.
>>
>>34561293
And all the guns in those shows are fictional underbarrel revolvers

Rhino is as close as you're going to get without a degree in gunsmithing
>>
>>34561263
Mechanically yes.
Functionally no.
>>
>>34561289
Unfortunately I live in CA so I was only able to buy a SAO version. You can buy conversion kits for about $15 bucks, and legally convert to Sa/da, but their sold out everywhere.

Shooting single action was very nice though. Very crisp and clean trigger. I have heard that all new rhinos come with a better trigger than the first gen guns though.
>>
>>34561263
No. It looks like fucking shit too. Fuck this thing for existing.

>>34561304
Togusa actually uses a Mateba 2006M - not a fictional variant, even though they're almost all dead ringers anyway - in the first season of GITS SAC after his other Mateba gets confiscated.
>>
Why do people even like this gun? It's ugly as sin and costs far more than its worth.
Are people buying it because
>anime character had it so its cool
>>
>>34561447
for some reason I thought it was just a fictional variation heavily based on it, but I guess my memory meme'd on me
>>
>>34561447
He uses a M-M2007 a fictionalized variant of the 06
>>
>>34561455

It's fun, feels good in the hand, and there's something awesome about firing a revolver where it feels like God is holding down the barrel to prevent jumping.

I also love the way it looks. Funny thing about looks, it's all subjective.
>>
>>34561456
In most of the show show and all of the movies he does.

>>34561457
Except in the last episode of SAC 1st GIG, when that gets confiscated and he retrieves a 2006M.
>>
>>34561404
Look, I found the cosplay faggot. Do you still think that $1,000.00 was justified?
>>
>>34561306
The LAPD 2019 blaster from blade runner isn't a six o' clock revolver either. It's just a charter arms bulldog in a case with a bolt action welded to the top.
>>
>>34561336

Why is it that you could only get single action in california? I mean I know the gun laws are fucked but is it a legal thing or is it just what the company sells in cali?
>>
>>34561535

Single actions are exempt from certain cali laws, making them very appealing to cali gunstore owners
>>
>>34561263
I cant get over the seam, I wish they switched to a new manufacturing process that got rid of the seam.
>>

>>
>>34561263
do they really cost that now?

I remembered getting mine for just under 800
>>
>>34561917
It's because all Rhinos start as 20s

The 40s, 50s, and 60s are made by adding on the extra length afterward
>>
>>34561455
One of the very few revolver that shoots like a semiauto. If you wanna pack some heat, rhino is a good gun for it

I actually want one as my go to handcannon when I wanna innawoods but not looking to bag game
>>
>>34561455
I bought one cause I saw it in a gun shop and I make alot of money so suck it faggot
>>
>>34562057
Seen one for about 700s at pawn shop.

I think this gun is becoming like s&w .44 magnum. People bought them after they saw clit eastwood with it, couldn't handle the recoil and ended up selling them
>>
>>34561293
It totally is in the ScarJo GiTS movie.
>>
>>34561466
Exactly, it's subjective.
I personally don't like the way way polymer guns look, or feel, they just look cheap to me in an unsavory way, but seeing as there's so fucking many of them, obviously many people feel otherwise since there's a market for them.
I personally like the way the revolver looks, it reminded me of Vash's revolver momentarily, but you can't honestly say they look alike aside from it being an underbarrel revolver. Besides, Vash's revolver is a break top revolver.
>>

Honestly guns aren't worth over $1,000
This is fucking America, I shouldn't need to spend over $1,000 for a firearm unless it's .50 BMG or larger.

Every gun that's $1,000 or more you can find an equal to that's much cheaper. Do aesthetics and brand matter so much to you that you're willing to burn $700 or more on them?

Quality machining means jack fuck when "poor" machining performs equal.

I can get a Hi Point for $150 and a Glock for anywhere from $500-800, and the Hi Point will consistently out perform the Glock in reliability tests.
You're wasting your money and encouraging greedy sale prices and other sorts Jewery.

>>$60 for a game isn't unreasonable! With inflation it's basically the same as SNES days! I'd gladly pay $60 for a new game!
>>Games go from $80 to $120 with season passes because of this lenient, horse shit mindset
Games back then were regularly $90+ dollars for AAA titles like Zelda and Mario. With inflation that would be easily $120 per game in 2017 making that entire point against your favor. Why don't you actually go look at old flyers for SNES and N64 games?

>Quality machining means jack fuck when "poor" machining performs equal.
As a machinist I can tell you right now that that is total bullshit. Surface finish and tight tolerances are incredibly important to moving parts functioning smoothly. 25c per part is the difference between it getting a proper hand deburr and polish or it just being thrown in the tumbler for a few minutes. All in would it make a gun a few hundred more expensive? Yes. Is it worth it for literally anything that wouldn't be a beater gun? Yes.

>can get a Hi Point for $150 and a Glock for anywhere from $500-800, and the Hi Point will consistently out perform the Glock in reliability tests.
(citation needed)
It's also far heavier, less ergonomic, has literally no aftermarket and is on it's own, a fairly large outlier in the fact that they can make them so cheap yet be reliable. They're basically the only company to make a pistol <$200 that isn't a giant, dangerous piece of flaming shit. $1000 for a single gun is the point where you stop having to make compromises that aren't inherent to the format of the gun itself. Diminishing returns don't start on guns until about $1500 depending on what it is.
>>
>>34566719
I only buy like 2 guns a year so yeah, I'm willing to drop less than 1% of my yearly income on a gun
>>
>>34566719
>Do aesthetics and brand matter so much to you that you're willing to burn $700 or more on them?
Considering I have a real job, yes.
>>
>>34566906
>Literally defending $120 games when my point was how defending $60 games just inflates the price
You're proving my point, man.

>All in would it make a gun a few hundred more expensive? Yes.
My dude, unless we're talking Taurus tier half assery, average to decent machining will produce a gun just as reliable as high quality machining.

>(citation needed)
Ian had some good videos showing the Hi Point outperform the Glock, and there are others. Just type in Hi Point stress test or Hi Point vs Glock on Youtube, it's significant how much the $150 gat outperforms the big old pricey "quality" Glock.
Also truly shitty guns can be and are priced at $1,000. Your argument that the price tag = quality is horse shit.
>>
>>34566993
You can choose to spend your money like an idiot, but at the end of the day you're still spending your money like an idiot.

Lighting a wad of $700 on fire just to get something you'd see in a video game over something "average" looking that performs the same is fucking retarded.

I don't like the Rhino for several reasons. Prepare to be butthurt.

Aluminum frame on a tiny carry gun you don't plan to shoot much I can deal with but an aluminum frame on a medium frame 6 shot is dumb as fuck. I can guarantee these guns will not hold to constant use of magnum loads over time. Barrel on bottom is bad juju is you ever have a kaboom. Add to that the fragility of aluminum and there is no chance in hell I'd buy one of these meme-supremes or ever recommend one to anybody. You can believe it will never happen to you and you will probably be right, but the Rhino doesn't being anything to the revolver table that is worth the extra risk.

who the fuck cares unless your a hardcore gamer? computing power of video cards dont mean anything to people unless you need them, then all of of the sudden it makes a lot of difference.
>$200 knife vs $15

you are a dumb fuck. you cant get good steel that cheap and it needs to have a good heat treat. you cant get a knife that holds a good edge for $20 no mater what east block country it came from. good steel isnt cheap. cheap steel isnt good. if you dont use to much then it wouldnt make a difference but for some one that needs something to use daily and dont want to sharpen it ever other time you use it then your going to have to drop some coin and get something better then what they sell at walmart
>$200 shoes vs $20
>Honestly this is a non-point. I wouldn't wear $20 shoes to a funeral or event and I wouldn't wear $200 shoes when taking a stroll.
you must have an easy job. or you dont have a job at all. if you had a job where you worked, had o be on your feet for 10-16 hours a day then you wouldnt mind having a pair of well made shoes. you get what you pay for. if you just want cheap junk that says more about your life then anything else.

In the new movie they gave him a rhino. Though its not expressly called a rhino and he only pulls it out for 1-2 scenes. I was upset when i saw that.

I got mine for 760 with 200 rounds of 38 amd 100 rounds of defensive 357.

at seam, keeps the cost down. other then it being more easy to machine, these are billet machined not castings. its clear you dont understand anything about manufacturing.

this thing pops up in a lot of new movies and tv shows. it is the goto for scifi looking side arm.

load it into the barrel and find out what happens when you fire a round into it

hint: your cylinder is going to become a bullet-propelled cannonball
>>
>>34573347
chiappa's homesite lists them from 1200 on up, the barrels make about ten dollars in difference between each length setting

fuck me, last year the 60ds was barely above 900
>>
>>34574905
>load it into the barrel
who the fuck does that? also shouldn't the snap cap be really fucked up after this?
>>
>>34575024
aren't they solid blocks of steel with a spring and silicone nubbin to take a fucking from the firing pin?
>>
>>34575039
>>34575024
>>34574905
regardless, that cylinder looks like it extracted itself from the weapon frame, I don't even see the shield anywhere in frame, the idea that the bullet became propellant is sound

what if the barrel is in the wrong caliber?
>>
>>34574905
A snap cap of the same caliber as the gun it is intended for will not fit in the barrel you fucking moron.
>>
>>34575064
My guess is that a squib lodged a bullet in the barrel. when the next round was fired it hit the obstruction and the pressure blew that aluminum frame to pieces while all the steel remained intact. That's whit the barrel and the cylinder are whole but the entire frame is a jigsaw puzzle.

>>

quick refresher, what's your goto tell that you've fired a squib?
>>
>>34575103
they are aluminum they can't hurt steel chambers.
>>
>>34575112
Round isn't loud and there is no(or reduced) recoil. Really only a problem with inexperienced shooters or someone who is shooting a revolver so fast they can't stop pulling the next shot before they realize what happened.
>>
>>34575112
Had some Magtech squibs at the range. They made a muffled poof instead of a BANG so it was kinda obvious something went wrong
>>
>>34561263
I don't get the point of trying to "modernise" a revolver. Only reason you'd pick a revolver is just for the charm of it, right?

9/10 skookum choocher. Super fun to shoot. Superb ergonomics. Pretty fucking accurate too, if you go for the 50 or 60ds. I don't regret it at all.
>>
Use my 20ds as my edc, fun gun I love it but mine came with a soft firing pin and I had to send it in for repairs.

Had to put down a pitull with it that was trying to tear up my german shep mutt.
>>
>>34575203
Simpler mechanisms tend to have less issues over time, but revolvers are more delicate to physical abuse. They're decent choices if you expect not to have to use them very often so it's a good choice for a lot of civil defense applications.
>>
>>34575203
Chiappa didn't modernize shit. Semi-autos are starting to resemble glocks because as a product hits maturity it tends to standardize into it's most efficient form. Revolvers hit this level of standardization at the beginning of the 20th century. Chiappa created a marketing gimmick to get some market share in a very mature marketplace. And it's working. Seems like we have one of these memelord threads every fucking week with some noguns drooling over muh aesthetics while having no concept of what a piece of shit this gun really is from an engineering perspective.

You're definitely correct, but I'm a massive autist and as such I feel like I just have to open my stupid mouth and mention that with the S&W airweights you can definitely feel some shock in your hands when shooting 38s
>>
>>34574905
ok im glad you replied because i thought there was actually something wrong with using snap caps in revolvers or something
idk why you think a snap cap is a barrel plug but i'm gonna leave you to that
>>
>>34564986
Very reliable. I've shot shitty steel cased .38spcl through mine for hundreds of rounds without issue. Trigger is crisp @ SA, bit of creep on DA. Haven't found timing issues yet.

Chiappa as a company is... iffy. For example, they didn't have a replacement cylinder for mine in the same colour as my revolver, and also couldn't promise what colour it would come in,just that it would function.

This anon describes it perfectly. What's funny is I remember watching some video of one of these fucking CA law makers claiming "the roster is only to limit assault pistols this won't affect revolvers, our goal iSnt to take everyones guns, just dangerous ones. blah blah"

SURPRISE....i really need to get out of this ahithole. Lucky I live in one of the only counties that is shall issue for ccw.

Not quite. Revolvers are still popular with civilians due to their simplicity.

They're the perfect gun to load, leave in a drawer somewhere in a house, and then forget about until you need it.

w... you have to be really dumb to think that over 100 years ago we got the best we ever could. why stop there? why not say the colt 1861 is the best revolver and anything designed after that is just a marketing gimmick? you sound just like the just like they kids that go about about how the 1911 is the best pistol ever and there has been no improvement since
>>
>>34580615

What's the point of the MTR?
>>
>>34582114
I'm not saying they made the best guns you moron. I'm saying the basic layout/form factor of the revolver had pretty well been standardized into its' most efficient form. DA/SA, swing out cylinder for self-contained cartridges etc. There are slight variations on the theme but there will be no revolutionary change in the basic gestalt of the revolver. Kind of like flintlock guns hit their efficiency mark and remained basically unchanged for hundreds of years until the self-contained cartridge came along and flipped the script.

Another anon now wary of Rhinos, how would a snap cap/dummy round blow up a revolver?
>>
>>34589528
in a heartbeat. you should never ever put snap caps in revolvers, unluess you don't like having fingers.

just use blanks. for the same effect as snaps in autos, plug the barrel with a wooden dowel tightly; that will prevent you from potentially expelling any powder.
>>
>>34589653
Please don't do this. this is how you get someone Brandon Lee'd
>>
>>34589692
What? It's the only right way to do it. ask any pro.

listen bud, you wanna use a snap cap in a wheelgat, your funeral.

>RIP hand
>>
>>34581459
it is a bit slippery, but it has some texture to it so unless your hand is overly sweaty/wet it shouldn't be a problem. it's also smaller than the wooden grips as it's meant for CC.

>>34587228
yeah, that's also one of the reasons why i hesitated. 50ds is pushing it when it comes to CC and it would largely just be a range toy. you can always get the smaller black rubber grip for the 40ds which will reduce the overall profile a bit.
>>
>>34589777
How the fuck would a snap cap do literally anything? It's just a plastic plug, maybe with a spring inside.
>>

>>34593287
The "seam" is there for a reason: you can remove it and put a longer or shorter barrel.
