Hey, check out the retarded little brother of the Corsair.

that's not how it works.
Pic is the little brother - not exactly retarded though.

Neither of these planes have any relation whatsoever to the corsair.

but it's .50 cal

Wouldn't the recoil send it backwards a bit, or at least slow it's air speed, thus causing it to lose thrust and fall from the sky?

Aichi B7A is the sexier aircraft.

No shit. The corsair was built from scratch to be a carrier fighter.
It failed to work as a carrier aircraft.
It wasn't until the British Royal Navy persevered with the design that it became suitable as a carrier aircraft, after which the US started to actually use it in its intended role.
The Barracuda was a better aircraft

Didn't they just fly a curved continuous approach?

Are you retarded or something, OP? Or just a faggot?

I'd take tard strength anyday in a fight.

Okay Lindy.

Really shows how shitty USN pilots were, that they had to learn how to land a plane from the Brits.

oh didn't know that one

If I recall correctly, the Corsair was unsuitable as a carrier fighter in its first iteration because the landing gear suspension was poorly designed and tended to bounce too much for a safe carrier landing. Also the nose is so long that visibility when landing on a carrier was a problem. Those were pretty small issues which were fixed by both the British AND the Americans after the initial model, with minor modifications to the landing gear, canopy, and approach-to-landing technique. However, by that time the US Navy was more interested in the Hellcat, so the Corsair remained mostly assigned to land-based squadrons. The Hellcat and Corsair were both such fine fighters that in my opinion the debate between them is kind of pointless, but I do love the Corsair personally.

If you don't love the Corsair you don't love anything.
