Recruiter is definitely up there

Recruitment is where careers and dreams go to die. Most recruiters are washouts, cowards, or got shafted by their higher-ups. My recruiter was a LCDR who royally fucked himself by not taking his job seriously, and then as a recruiter gained a reputation for dissuading people from joining because he was so incompetent and uncouth. I know everyone hates their recruiter, but this fucker made the process take a lot longer, and because of him dragging his ass, I had to go up to the Great Lakes in the fucking winter

Not ours. This last deployment they worked maybe 3 to 5 hours a day on average and had kp on the days they didnt. If they had a busy day they got the next day off. They would schedule these busy days on Friday or Saturday. For some reason command felt if they had cq they would need the following day off, they were the only soldiers in the fsc afforded this luxury. Often they would basically score a 3 or 4 day weekend depending on the circumstances.

They didn't pull their weight.

Why does the US military have to make every mundane job sound cooler than it is? Bitch, you're not a specialist, you're a janitor.
>>
>>34555195
>recruiter?
lol, no. In the Army there is an old saying, "The fastest way to end your career is to go recruiting." On recruiting you HAVE to produce. That means if they can walk and talk and meet the min standards you are trying to ship them off to basic. I met all sorts of people who had done recruiting duty and the horror stories about their careers being threatened if they didn't make goal, or their piers turning into alchys or guys getting busted for fucking 17, 18 year old HS students.
tl;dr, recruiting sucks ass

>>34556143
This guy's pretty much right. It's a weird, borderline job, so it depends on the unit you're in.
Good leadership that advocates for the use of the guns and produces fast, accurate and motivated soldiers will get you outside the wire doing shit like air assaults, and lots of firemissions. I shot 2-4 mission per day for months straight, including a lot of direct fire. My unit spent a lot of time getting shot at (and shot, in more than a few instances) because we were willing to go outside of the bunkers and fire killer jr. at the hadjis shooting at us.

Shitty leadership that produces lazy, unskilled soldiers will not build trust with the units they're supporting. Those soldiers will sit in their rooms and play video games all day. The guys that replaced us were a shit show, and as such, didn't get called on for support, either in direct or indirect fire roles.

Of course, "artillery" is a huge thing, so you could be talking about megapog 13Ds or 13Fs that spend all their time with 11Bs.

I work in a military hospital along side civilian docs and nurses and RT's and do typical med surg, bedside nursing. 90% of the time were in hospitals doing nursey shit.

Sometimes they deploy nurses to work on CASH's (the old MASH's), but even then medics make mire sense because of all the trauma patients you'll be getting. Medics and OR techs to help with emergency surgery.

There are a bunch of medical MOS's that are POGey as fuck. Lab assistants and xray techs cannot possibly ever shoot at people.

Did we watch the same fuckin video?

I know that recruiters can be bad about explaining exactly what different MOS do because 9/10 times they have no fucking clue and probably never even talked to anyone with a given MOS. But at no point in that video did the guy try to make his job sound "operator" or "tactical".

The dude explicitly talked about exactly what he does: move and set up hygiene facilities for other troops and humanitarian missions.

Which is actually important, especially in humanitarian missions because you don't want a huge camp full of IDPs or refugees being dirty as fuck all the time and spreading sickness and disease. So you provide a facility for them to shower and wash their stank ass clothes.

>>34557472
I went 13B because I could ship out first. I wouldn't recommend it if you want to be infantry.
And yes, you'll "make infantry," there's nothing to "make," there are basically no requirements beyond the bare minimum and you just have to sign the contract.

Cooks act way important for what they do. Supplying MRE's could be a function of supply and no one would know the difference. After that cooks are just there for making shitty scrambled eggs out of essentially larger MREs.

Don't get me wrong I appreciate hit food but they act like they're saving people's lives when they give me 3 instead of the usual cat turd sausage alongside my rubber ball of egg. At best they're an unnecessary, if appreciated morale booster, and at worst they're just a MRE deliverer.
>>
My cousin was a 92M.

Poor fucker got railroaded into the job when they found out he had family ties to the funeral industry. He was helping my Uncle out since he was 10 doing embalming and prepping coffins.

For show and tell one day he brought a plastic ass screw to school. No fucker knew what it was until he told them. Made the teacher freak the fuck out.. fun times.
>>
My MOS is probably up there.

Maintenance is already pretty fucking POGy, but a lot of them at least do menial, skilled labor on a variety of equipment, some of which is really cool to work on.

My job is to manage maintenance. Not any of the cool stuff, but instead all the adminstrative sides to all their programs, like corrective maintenance, calibrations, or modifications. Pretty much all day I work on a stupid program and pull reports on a program, then tell a bunch of people who outrank me and have actual, technical skills in things outside of Excel, that they are fucked up and need to do things according to an order or other guidance. You're always at minimum a few echelons above any actual work.

If you like being a little bureacratic, pedantic ass who hides behind orders, who likes telling others what to do despite lacking the knowledge to actually do it yourself, it is the job for you. If you'd rather not, it is a boring, terrible job.
>>
>>34560671

So in an infantry company that has 3 line platoons, hq, and commander all needing an RTO, the 1 comms guy is supposed to be the RTO for all simultaneously while maintaining other duties? bullshit. Obviously a 25 series can act as an RTO, and also train the company's RTO's, but you are incorrect if you think they are slotted in the position or it's common for them to assume that role.

Also 99% of 25 series are niggers, nigger.
>>
What's the best MOS for manlets? Tanker?
>>
>>34560907
There's a reason I specifically said go 25c aka RTO and go 75th. We're alloted 5 25 series per company. If you're a 25c you'll go to a company and serve as a platoon RTO. Even when we're short on guys you'll still at least be the CO's RTO.

And yes, we'll go out and do RTO duties in addition to fulfilling all the other bullshit comms duties going on like filling radios, setting up mission plans, getting dudes printers working, etc.

And again I know that 11bs can take over RTO duties, it doesn't change the fact that 25cs are actual RTOs though.

25Ss with the 1C identifier control the communication payloads onboard communications satellites. They are awarded space wings on graduation. I know other Signal Corps personnel are eligible to wear space wings after completing one year in Army Space and Missle defence Command. I'm unsure of other branches assigned to them. Being a manlet is a bonus for being a tanker, as it's easy to get in and out of the tank and move around in it. One guy in my unit was like one inch above being a literal midget and he moved around in that beast like shit through a goose. I on the other hand am king of manlets (5'11") and I had to crouch all the time unless i was sitting in a position.)
But it ain't no POG job, that's for sure. Constant maintenance on the tank (like everyday), then training on the tank, then training off the tank. When I was deployed to Iraq, we had no tanks, so we were doing Infantry style shit, riding around in gun trucks, kicking in doors, etc. not fun desu senpai

So yea, if you want combat arms and you're bordering midget size, I'd highly suggest 19K. For anyone above 6'1'' I'd say find another MOS

yes, when you actually get to shoot and move on the tank, it's pretty fun. Sad part is that's probably 5-10% of the job stateside, the rest is maintenance on the tank, then the rest of all the bullshit that comes with being in the Army. Like I said, I never deployed with a tank, so wouldn't know about that.
You just have to practice to get good at loading, and units have dummy rounds where you can practice.
If I remember correctly, the bare minimum to get through basic was 8 seconds on a HEAT round (heaviest and most awkward because it's front heavy), but in a unit they want it down to at least 5 seconds. In my best days I could load it in like 3.5. A SABOT (easiest one to load) I could load right in under 3 seconds. I spent most of my time in the comfy Driver's seat or the gunner's seat (not as comfy)

Far too much for a NEET.

Went and checked my old 00005 crewman;
3. Drive AFV and SMP vehicles cross-country in low/no light conditions.
Nothing like driving around at night in total back out conditions face rammed into a 1980s thermal vision system because the NVGs are too rare to give to drivers.

4. Load/unload stores & ammunition weighing up to 40 Kg continuously for one hour without rest.
They should add; while in low/no light conditions. I recall doing that in the desert one time and picking up a shell and watching the static discharge between my finger and the electric primer.

I had a sit down after that one for a bit.

I feel bad for the cooks' NCOs.

>Be me, 11B in garrison
>"Congratulations, SPC Anon, you've been selected for a feedback session with the DiFac!"
>Roj
>Get there, SFC Auschwitzsurvivor comes out of the kitchen
>He turns out to be an okay guy
>"Hey guys, relax, I'm just here to get your feedback. You know, we really want to get you guys to come in more. Our funding relies on how often you guys eat here, and they take money out anyway."
>Cook joes just sort of milling around doing nothing
>SFC tells them to do something
>They all start to complain, especially one of the females
>Feel my butt pucker up for the upcoming smoke session
>All he can do is defeatedly ask them nicely
It was so pathetic. All I can guess is that they're all on profile and complain that he makes them want to kill themselves when he tells them to act like soldiers.

Just got back from a Kuwait deployment. The vets take care of the cats, and the cats are there to eat the mice. Female soldiers invariably feed the cats so they stop hunting. Now there are tons of fat cats running around Arifjan.

>tfw no FOB dogs in Kuwait

FOB dogs are the most loyal and fearless creatures I've ever seen.

And DO THEY KNOW the difference between an American and an Iraqi when someone is walking around on post.

I've met a bunch of 11Bs and 11Cs that reclassed to 13F, but never met a 13F that reclassed to 11B/C.

I got 13F after rolling out of EOD and didn't get my top pick of 11B. I spent 9 years straight in Infantry units. My first deployment to Iraq I did nothing but serve as a gun team leader for my Weapons Squad because we never really got into any situations where we needed dedicated indirect beyond mortars and the occasional Apache/Kiowa team. So I'm thankful I got 13F.

Did you ever use the Excalibur shells? My unit was one of the first to field them in OIF. We had Apaches enough that my unit never ended up calling one in.

Reserves CA is soft

Active CA is pretty sweet because they all work for SOCOM.

Better yet, they are one of the most civilian applicable MOS's out there.

nigga theres a difference between being a cook or supply tech or w/e and being a guy who fuckin' restocks vending machines. on bases, going doctrine is that if it can be done by a contractor, it has to be done by a contractor (hence why theres a timmys on every base instead of there only being a galley and forces-run canteen)

here in canada we dont even have trades like that, you just task some rando with it on ships and bases where you cant have civilians doing it. closest it gets are stewards and they at least help the cooks and do other stuff

They blend in better than woodland and desert MARPAT in most environments. Sad that its isn't used stat side as much as Scorpion W2. Plus the newest uniform cut is comfy as fuck.

Outright bold face lies. Nothing like seeing 4 ribbon SNCOs that have been in 6 years, or maybe 5 or 6 with 12+ years. Yea, fill in for me on BN SDNCO dipshit.
