I'm interested in the idea as well, if only for a shtf bug out bag idea. You can carry yuppie AR and a combination of 5.56 and .22 ammo. The higher caliber for large game or self defense and then you can pop that sucker in for small game.

What a dumb bitch.
I looked into this before. Cheaper to just buy a 10/22.
>>34555230
Right now that is the case, but the benefit of a .22lr conversion kit is that you can practice with your AR for 5cpr instead of ~30cpr.
Why all the hate? I have had mine for years and it's been great.

dedicated upper master race
>>34554960
They're really kind of shit without a dedicated 22 barrel. For all the shit people talk about how 5.56 is just a 22, the difference between a 22lr barrel and a 223 barrel is enough that your groups with this will be absolute shit at any decent (for 22lr) distance. If you want to just use it as a toy for shooting tin cans from 25 yards it'll be fine.

This is shit practice though, you might as well use a weighted pellet gun.

175 with 3 mags https://www.righttobear.com/CMMG-drop-in-22-conversion-kit-Bravo-SS-w-3-p/22ba651.html and no ffl fees, though a dedicated .22 will probably out shoot this I can see this being something neat to stow in your pack or for just plinking.
>>34555652
They work fine though you'll need to adjust your sights because of fucking course a .22 isn't going to be hitting the same point of impact as a .223.
>>34555672
The manual of arms is exactly the same as using an AR in .223, except it doesn't have bolt hold open.
Is it as good as just using .223? No, of course not, but it's still better than nothing. You still get to learn your trigger and practice proper breathing and all that the same as you would with .223.
>>34554960
I've looked into it, its better to get a full dedicated 22lr upper due to unjacketed ammo fouling and leading everything up to the gas tube and filling the grooves in your barrel. because you're all a bunch of lazy fucks who don't clean your shit this is a problem.
My AR has a 1:7 barrel.
A 10/22 has a 1:16 barrel
With such hugely different twist rates how can these conversions be any good?
