I was never really into fur stuff until I saw those in John Carpenter's The Thing, then I was completely turned on.
It's also one of the oldest issued uniform items in the U.S.
Originally starting as the Jacket, Aircrew, Heavy, Type N-3 introduced in 1945, in 1958 it was improved and redesignated N3-B, and went through several modifications over the decades such as color from brown to blue, sage, then grayish, a wolf/coyote/beaver fur trim to synthetic fur, and lining material, and it's still issued today to USAF and USN crews in Arctic conditions.

pic related, as worn with the also quite old N1-B Extreme Cold Weather "Mukluk" Boots.
>>
It's never seen fully together but the old USAF cold weather ensemble included;

Helmet, Flyers, Winter, B-9B
Mittens, Extreme Cold Weather, N-4B
Parka, Extreme Cold Weather, N-3B
Trousers, Extreme Cold Weather, F-1B
Boots, Extreme Cold Weather, N1-B

All of which went through several changes, but most if not all are still seen brought out for the coldest ops like Operation Deep Freeze and Exercise Northern Edge.

I've just started acquiring military memorabilia and uniforms. So far I have a Belgian Jigsaw pattern field jacket, what I assume is a British S95 DMP uniform, and a Swedish M90 lightweight warm weather model field jacket.

All three are nice but the M90 and S95 are a little to big on me so I might sell them or trade them in st the surplus shop here down town.

Nice but undoubtedly modern. Not only the velcro which could have been added any time, but the style of the stitching. Especially on the bottom of the hem and the sleeves. Print looks good, no misalignment. I'd buy it for an average price, $60 or so?

I have one of those, printed on ripstop so definitely a repro as well. I'm not sure where they're coming from. Stitching says sweatshop or little old woman using fabric. Hard to say if the fabric is being sold as second quality or being printed for testing, YUMCO still own and exhibit the pattern but they're really cagey about it.

Hard to say, I can find no info on the West Papuan army since they are small and insignificant.
If it is real then it must be quite rare, but I can hardly find anything on the old West Papuan army and what I did has no info on combat/camo uniforms.

Sorry, real guns are too expensive, and even then it's not like I'm going to actually operate in this shit, I just like collecting it. Why buy a real gun when I can just buy a fake one to complete a look? (And yes, I know the Swiss have used the Sig-550 since 1986, but I'm looking to get my hands on a Sig here directly, 552 model, not the 550)

Ok, then let me correct myself: Winter trousers and parka. Better? I didn't mean an actual difference in the camo, just the styles of the uniform.

I'm still working on getting equipment (For multiple loadouts, my Swiss being a pretty basic and actually rather enjoyable collection) , hardest part is just finding substitutes for stuff I can't find. Such as the OD combat belts they wear over their parkas/jackets, can't find those for the life of me.

Any suggestions for sites/milsurp pieces for a Swiss rifleman loadout?
What I've got:

Helmet-Swiss M-1971 w/Alpenflage cover
Boots- Already Stated
Firearm- (Just Bought) Sig-552 (Fake, I'm a poorfag after all) (Doubt that it's used heavily by Swiss army, but it's within my price range)
Face Protection- Already Stated

But I appear to be lacking a shit ton in terms of equipment. I'm looking for:

Mag Pouches
A Holster for the Sig P220/6
E-tool With Cover
Alpenflage Carrying Pouches
Combat Belt (Found and will be ordered)

If anyone knows any good sites for those, it'd be much appreciated.

Nope.

No winter, summer, fall, or spring. Just uniform. The only other set was TAZ83 which wasn't used on deployments. It was more of a "barracks" uniform.

Posted a thread last night on a VKBO I received from Grey-shop.ru

I questioned it's authenticity when the tag's were hand stamped, lacked a OTK marking, and the shade of the material was much lighter in color then the usual authentic Digital Flora EMR.

I emailed grey-shop asking why the shade was much lighter, and it lacked a OTK marking, they told me the OTK marking doesn't mean anything and every Russian company uses it, (which is untrue as its a military quality acceptance stamp)

They dodged the question on why the shade didn't match the hat, which is a genuine issue Item, and replied the hat was made in a different factory and the material could be different.

I linked a few images of authentic VKBO's and asked why they are different in color compared to my suspected fake, and they dodged the question and simply said it was made on Rip-stop which is why the color is different then the authentic VKBO's.
I emailed BTK Group and they responded that it is indeed a counterfeit.

this is exactly what I ordered, talk about fraudulent, "our shop is purchased directly from BTK group"

Also I'd like to apologize for my confusion with the """Winter Uniform""" mixup. I found a lightweight jacket/trouser set so I assumed there was a seasonal difference between the heavyweight and lightweight clothing.

In other news, I'm planning on getting an Eastern German Summer camoflauge BDU set and will be devoting resources towards that.

What's even better is that I already have that airshit AK, probably the most expensive part of the collection.

Oh, then consider me a stitch-nazi as well.

Also, on Hessen Antique, I have assembled a full-on Eastern German Summer collection for about half of what you paid.

Only substitutes are:
EG AK-74 bayonet (As opposed to the AK-47 bayonet, lower cost for same effect.)
Czech Guard Boots (Can't find EG boots, can find German Police boots, but not explicitly EG boots.)

Either way, I find East German milsurp super interesting for historical purposes. Am I alone in this feeling? Just liking something because it's super cool for no real reason?

I was thinking about something Italian myself, but it was a toss up between WW2 desert Bersaglieri or a more modern Carabinieri/military police.

Thinking the military police might be simpler, as repro WW2 uniforms are too damn expensive for my budget.

This is the uniform I'm looking at but I can't find any sort of diagram or picture about the Cold-War era Italian military to base my equipment on.
>>
>>34621809
iirc Sportsman's Guide has different camo variations of that, if you're wondering

Not really familiar with Italian uniforms myself, my area of focus, at least for now is mainly German uniforms from WW1 and onwards.

Noice. It's been said that US servicemen training in Estonia were so impressed by ESTPAT's effectiveness that they started calling the guys wearing it "Green Ghosts".

>>34617883
As would I. Nothing wrong with a basic patrol cap from a purely practical standpoint, but the M43 is a definite winner when it comes to stylishness.

Ooh this looks like a neat site. The only problem is that I have American money and no clue as to if there is any way or how to trade my money for foreign bucks.

In addition, I can't quite tell which boots I'd need for a Summer uniform, but I'm leaning more towards the knobebecher boots. Does any anon object to said choice?

>>34621882
Mind sharing some pics of pre-Cold War equipment?
>>
>>34623181
Just get the Knobelbecher and you're good.
They were go-to footwear for all seasons. Also, they're correct for both the camo getup and wool service uniform.

There's not a whole ton of good photos, and uniforms/equipment varies depending on unit and decade.
>>
>>34623236
Roger, will do.
I've also realized, shortly before you replied, that I haven't seen a single Summer uniform with the tall, more restrictive shank boots.
Much appreciated, anon.

>>34623269
Wanting to do a 70s/80s era uniform, those two decades interest me the most.
>>
>>34623328
It should however be noted that Knobelbecher were purely a conscript thing. Full-time servicemen (regardless of rank) wore the taller boots you mentioned.

Somewhat relevant image.
(Note: Unlike the Knobelbecher, the tall boot for full-time personnel came in two varieties: a field version and a shiny service/parade one. This image shows the latter).

I don't have any good pics yet, but this guy pretty much has the basics of what I have.

Just add the gas mask bag, entrenching tool w/ cover, the proper rank shoulderboards w/ correct grey pips (Lieutenant), and diff bayonet (AKM/AK-74 transitional one).

Also almost have a full winter uniform (Can swap both EM or Officer's) sans quilted pants.

Actually, it's M3 Pattern Personal Armor.
Used-not by Space Marines-but by Colonial Marines.

Pic related is an M65 Gunner's light uniform and the different components of it.

Problem with that though is that he has the UTV cut of the strichtarn. He's not going to have holes for shoulderboards.

It's just a step-by-step construction of the uniform.
You'd be a fucking idiot to operate an M-56 without the targeting system.

Pic related, it's the piece that goes over the operator's right eye.
An IR tracker on the front of the gun picks up movement and (On later models) can actually adjust the stabilization arm slightly to aid in shooting said target. On earlier models it would only point out targets and leave the aiming up to the shooter, making the operator fatigue quicker.
>>
Well I was watching youtube stuff and now I want a Mauser 1914.
>>
>>34634187
You sure? I have both regular and UTV cuts and I thought I saw holes in the UTV... Maybe I'm remembering it wrong... Haven't pulled that out of storage for a while... hmm...
>>
>>34634459
There were some transitional versions that had both (essentially just older uniforms with the sleeve rank loop sewn on).

It's an okay pattern, especially compared to the grayscale nonsense it replaced.
