A lot of them picked up on the fundamentals and rules right off the bat. There was confusion, naturally, about differences between "clips" and "magazines" and other terms, but I taught them the basics. It's actually a great date idea... If you have the rounds to spare

About ten people this past year. I make a point to try to get my fellow history majors exposed to milsurp rifles, because I believe they're an excellent way to get a tangible, physical connection to the soldiers you might be studying. The war on the Eastern Front takes on a new light when you've actually battled with a sticky Mosin bolt, for instance.

If you were to classify them, four were probable gun nuts who had just never been exposed before (i.e. right-leaning, already interested in military stuff), three were sort of in the middle ground with no opinions either way, and the other three were hardcore SJW-types who had previously been massively anti-gun.
Since then, six of them have gone off and bought rifles of their own as far as I know, including two of the SJW's. Hell, the one girl - 7/10 but spoke like she was on Tumblr 24/7 - ended up getting a really nice WWI Gewehr 98 and a membership to my range. I think that qualifies as a success case, if anything does.

Still haven't gotten a gf out of the deal, sadly....

I regret introducing the people I know to shooting. They always ask me to take them to the range and don't want to get their own guns or pay for ammo. I just tell them I'm working whenever they ask me to take them and I just go by myself.

None, everyone I know is already interested in it and we go together. Ironically there more interested than I am, but that's because I live in a shitty county and don't have enough land to shoot on
