What movies/vietnam movies are your favorite? I'm looking for a movie to watch but it seems there isn't much vietnam movies.

Already watched: Full Metal Jacket, We were soldiers, Platoon, Apocalypse Now, Born on the Fourth of July

Red Dawn is not vietnam, but it's pretty /k/

The left guy is truly prepared for a battle

I've only seen it once, but it was fairly recently. It seemed jarring in how it was edited, but maybe that was intentional.
>>
>>34550440
Just finished watching it last night. Great movie. Especially if you're a RS2 fan since the entire movie is based on the irl map "Hill 937".

fuck yea, philip glass - really emotional

I had the honor of meeting Hal Moore many times before he died. I supervised at a grocery store in the Auburn AL area and even in his mid-90's he would come in and shop. Sometimes by himself, sometimes with his son Dave. If you guys are ever in the Columbus GA area, the National Infantry Museum is a definite visit. There's a diorama of La Drang.

On a related note, I also got to meet Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn last year when they came to Auburn to see Hal. Just dumb luck that I was dating this girl at the time and decided to take her to a restaurant in town. Two extremely nice men, they autographed a business card of mine and I have it framed in my office.

got a pic of the card?

Grandfather was 101st Airborne, 321st Artillery. Has a Bronze Star with Valor from Hamburger Hill. Once told me if I ever wanted to know what he experienced over there, I should watch that movie. He says it's the most realistic depiction of Vietnam he's seen in a film. If he ever catches it on TV, he will watch it and he will tear up and act like he's just sleepy or has something in his eye.

Not on me, but I wouldn't be surprised if that cunt still had some of the pictures on her social media pages. That encounter is when I also realized she wasn't for me.

>I was excited to meet one of my favorite Director's and another great guy who is in the minority of not being a liberal in hollywood.
>I was very brief, shook hands, we talked for a minute about Hal, told them I was looking forward to Hacksaw Ridge, they asked if I wanted an autograph, I just pulled out what I had because if Mel Gibson asks if you want an autograph, you don't say "no thank you sir"
>Girlfriend was taking a bazillion pictures and "OMG this is going on Facebook!"
>Whole time of the date she's obsessing over hollywood people and hoping that her videos and tweets and whatever would "go viral".

>>34550562

It truly is, plus the Southeast is rapidly growing. I've seen my share of semi-famous/known ex-military people down here and quite a few actors now that Georgia is growing into South Hollywood. Saw Kristen Stewart and her dyke GF in Savannah last December when I was there on business. See people in Atlanta here and there. Have met quite a few of The Walking Dead people just because they're down here A LOT filming.

Got to meet Basil Plumley before he died too. Was actually at the Infantry Museum and he just happened to be there.

Always talk to the old veterans when you see them, even if they were POGS or whatever. The WWII guys are all but dead and the Korean and Vietnam guys are heading in that direction. Gain what you can before history passes them by.

The Boys In Company C and 84 Charlie Mopic are more obscure Vietnam films, and both worth seeing. The first season of the TV show Tour of Duty is good stuff too, but don't bother with the second season.
>>
>>34550758
What's wrong with second?
>>
>>34550786
have you seen any of it? if you did you'd know

I didn't, but just curious

I started DVRing that show a while back. It was on one of those budget cable channels, in the 200s range on DISH IIRC. They air a lot of older TV shows like The Equalizer.

Flight of the Intruder was pretty fun. Lots of A-6 intruder and carrier porn.

Bat*21 was also pretty cool.

it just starts to get stale, the episodes' plot lines just seam to go nowhere and the dialog suffers - on the plus side there's plenty of SOG action with tiger stripe and unconventional weapons

>>34550368
no US soldier ever saw one, but they were there
they were more part of the jungle than the VC
