What is the best 5.56 round for putting down humans at 0-400 yards out of a 14.5" barrel
>50gr TSX
>70gr TSX
>MK318
>77 TMK
>>
75gr TAP
>>
If you want maximum trauma then a heavy OTM like 75gr TAP. Problem of course is gonna be variable performance.

Personally id go with a barrier blind expanding round. TBBC is widely considered the best and is what the FBI uses. Ranger and gold dot bonded rounds are next. TSX is pretty good but some of the rounds don't like AG too much(the heavier ones specifically). If you're a poorfag then you can pick up federal fusion on the cheap, almost the exact same round as the 62gr GD with almost the exact same performance.
>>
>>34547098
From what I have seen, TAP doesn't really have the impressive cavity like 77TMK or 50 TSX

>>34547098

tmk-77gr

cbc-77gr
>>
>>34547193
why are the velocities listed given a random distance to them?

>i.e., if TMK frags at 1900fps why give the info at 2675fps?
>>
>>34547201
What about 50gr TSX?
>>
>>34547231
max fragmentation distance

i need to fix that chart but i'm lazy
>>
>>34547241
i didn't buy any
>>
>>34547201
So I'm thinking for a 14.5 in barrel, 77gr TMK's are best from 0-400 yards.

On the consumer market, good ole xm855, green tip, steel penetrator.
>>

>On the consumer market, good ole xm855, green tip, steel penetrator.

Please tell me you aren't serious.
>>
On a related note, what 5.56 is the best for a one-shot drop at below 50 yards from a 16 inch barrel? Should I change my 5.56 barrel for 300 blk (already have one) and just use that? I like keeping my AR around for home defense but I don't know if it's good enough.
>>
>>34547459
Deff don't take 300memeout over 5.56. That being said, there is no way to quantify "one shot drop" capabilities or even track that. That being said, 50gr TSX is what SWAT etc use for CQB out of SBR's. Out of a 16" it would be devastating.
>>
>he didn't list MK262

Just... just stop owning firearms.
>>
>>34547444
Nice trips but he's serious. xm855 has killed tens of thousands of terrorists, what's your excuse? Plus OP is the one who's joking, using a 14.5" barrel for anything but squad CQB.
>>
>>34547523
Not that guy but everything you just said is comically stupid.

>something having killed people =/= best at killing people

>implying you need >14.5" for a general purpose carbine
>>
>>34547523
That's why I only carry .22lr. Look how many people it's killed. Our boys should be carrying 10/22's! But the army only wants them to wound. Etc etc.
>>
>>34547561
how bout you AR faggots get competent with your weapons, train with one type of general purpose ammo, then git fucking gud.

regardless of the pearls I throw before you oat eating motherfuckers: 400m is not 5.56mm's forte, no matter what round you train with. especially not with a short barrel. you want 300 memeout or an actual rifle bullet.
>>
>>34547628

Why would you say something so stupid i could just recycle that other guys post?

Go back to your containment thread, or take your trip off when you're not on /ARG/ you indebted attention whore.
>>
>>34547053
62 TSX > 70 TSX, by a good bit. Best killing bullet at 400 yards in 0.224" caliber.
>>
>>34547053
400yrds would push beyond the expansion threshold for either of the tsx rounds.
Mk318 or the tmk should still have enough ass at 400 to do good work.
>>
>>34547053
77gr TMK, no question. It's a monster. 50gr TSX is good, too, but 77gr TSX is more geared toward penetration.
>>
>>34548147
No.
>>
>>34548150
Just to follow up- the BH loaded 50gr tsx uses a different bullet than other manufacturers loaded ammo. The BH round is a bit tougher for better barrier performance, at a cost of a higher expansion threshold.
>>
>>34547053
Nice try FBI.
>>
>>34548175

I don't know who he is in this context but these 62 grain shrooms weren't wrong.
>>
>>34547107
I mean obviously I don't know shit compared to smarty scientists, but you'd think better wounding when you get a clear shot is more valuable than hitting through barriers, which I imagine is a far more rare occurrence. Plus less penetration with OTM.
>>
>>34548303
"He" was in reference to the guy who thinks 62gr tsx is the best round available in the caliber.

I don't believe this one image negates all of the readily available ballistic information on the subject.

I'm sure what you've read on the internet trumps reality.

Spill your guts on all you've killed with various 0.224" bullets. Don't forget pics. It'll be hilarious I am sure.

Technically, I'm reading your post on the internet now as well. But did you have a 70gr fail to expand on a deer or hog?

Anxious to read of your first hand experience with the advantages of the 70, over the 62. Particularly those that trump less velocity, more bearing surface, less room in the mag box, more recoil, and higher ES.

More 62 opponents, while we wait.

Hey, dipshit, I'm a different anon who wanted your actual opinion about your personal experience, so thanks.

This is why nobody wants to talk to you at work, by the way.
>>
>>34548491
I wouldn't fuck with a 70, simply because the 62 exists.

70 brings no advantages as weight is a meaningless designator, while its disadvantages are listed above.
>>
>>34548473

Don't post your face on 4chan, especially while talking shit for no reason

What barrel are you rocking and what twist?
>>
>>34548565
I'm behind the camera because I didn't draw a tag. Have no qualms talking shit, Alaska is a big place.

I have a wide variety of 0.224" barrels in a variety of twists and chamberings. The good thing is there are a lot of good barrels out there these days, for ARs or bolt rifles or whatever else.

For serious hunting rifles I like Mike Rock because his stuff is top notch and he'll turn stainless down as light as I ask.

He said for putting down humans and not punching the smallest groups at 600m.

>>34547053
Read DocGKR's recommended 5.56 duty loads.
>>
>>34547489
300BLK is performs better than 5.56 ballistically under 200m. I can see 300BLK being more useful in PDW-style weapons (protection detail, etc.) than 5.56 weapons.

I've heard good stuff out of 50 Gr TSX. I wonder why .mil guys use (used?) 70gr TSX.

Are you expecting ahmed to be wearing steel plates you fat fucking larper?

>>34550483
Army vet, thanks. practice with your weapon and sage this gay faggot thread.
>>
>>34550585
That's my point. Muhhamed is not wearing armor, so why chose a round that is made to penetrate through things, and sobotages ballistics? M855 will obliviously kill people. The point is that there are much better rounds for doing this. The military values barrier penetration over ballistics.
