ITT: ask and answer questions about PGO shotguns.
They're legal on the federal level, but what about the state level?
I plan on getting myself one and want to make sure I'm in the clear before I do buy it.
As for specifics, I'm 19, own a green card and live in MD.

where are you from, mr.job thief?

also what kind of PGO where you looking for?
>a Legal shotgun that has a pistol grip?(18" barrel and 26" OAL)
>a Short barrel shotgun?(any shotgun with a barrel cutdown less than 18")
>A legal firearm?(like the mossberg shockwave, which is 26" OAL but has a barrel shorter than 18")

If you are 19 you can only buy option 1.

after in looking into Maryland state laws, that is all irrelevant.

you cant own shit nigga.

My Ithaca model 37 PGO.
I recently put a full stock back on it though.

After playing Shadow of Chernobyl for the first time I found I really loved the pump action shotgun, so a few weeks later I went out and bought a Maverick 88 with a regular stock and pistol grip.

I put the pistol grip on and haven't taken it off since, it's a lot of fun and I'm pretty good with it. Stocked shotguns are undoubtedly more useful, but PGO's sure are a lot of fun.

Not op, but that is the EXACT setup on an Ithaca that I've been shopping around for. How does it handle? And is that a choate branded grip?
>>
>>34543827
don't know, anon. Good luck
>>
>>34546616
Because 1897's are retardedly complicated. There's like 50 moving parts. Field stripping that shit is like doing a jigsaw puzzle. Browning was a smart dude, but he wasn't very good at streamlining and simplifying shit.

didnt he make one of the simplest blow backs of all time?

(the 1911)

I recently inherited an old SxS shotgun and would like to turn into a sawed off.
I've never cut a full wood stock and don't know how I would cut it into a pistol grip without making look awful.
How do I cut my stock and make it look good and polished?
>>
>>34549651
Nigger you better be buying a new stock to butcher and you better be doing this to a shotgun that has easily replaceable furniture.

Unless you've got a tax stamp be ready to say goodbye to your dog.
>>

The gun in question is a 1930s era poverty gat that was sold in general stores, I received it in a Winn-Dixie grocery bag as nothing but partially functioning parts which I rebuilt.
But I'm a machinist not a carpenter so I might attempt to get another stock to work on first and just replace the current one instead of working on the one affixed to the gun now.

>>34549735
I've have already filed the the paperwork, won't be cutting the barrel until it's cleared.

Working with wood isn't that much different than working with metal. How would you cut a barrel? You'd mark where you want to cut and rough it out with a hacksaw. Then you'd re-crown it on a lathe. With the stock, you'd make a rough cut and then smooth out and round the area that you cut with a file and sandpaper. Then you'd apply finish.

Are you seriously going through the effort of getting a stamp for some shitty sawed-off?
>>
>>34549882
I would like to add one to my collection, just because I don't have one really. More money and boredom than sense at the moment.

>Field stripping that shit is like doing a jigsaw puzzle.
What? Nah, you just:
1. Make sure it's in battery

2. Unlock magazine assembly into receiver by pressing on the magazine locking pin as shown.

3. Turn the magazine tube counterclockwise. Using the action slide, pull forward until it stops. The action slide should now be out of the receiver.

4.Turn the barrel 90 degrees and separate the 2 halves.

And that's the takedown, a solid is the same but you remove the barrel band and then a screw for the magazine tube that goes to the receiver and yer done.

When I said "field stripping" I meant to say "complete disassembly". I hot salt blued one of those fuckers and it was a pain in the dick.

yeah, I get that, they're a ton of hand-fitted and surprisingly delicate parts that sum up to a robust weapon. Cool beans
