Questions that don't deserve their own thread thread
Can illegal immigrants buy guns easily in America? I don't know how the background check system works there.
>>
>>34542480
.... you're asking if someone who is not a legal us resident can have their social security and background checked.... holy shit...
No. They cannot legally purchase a firearm.

Sage, it's over.
>>
>>34542520
>holy shit...
Wow that's crazy that everyone on earth doesn't know how US background checks work. They must all be dumb or something.
>>
>>34542640
>They must all be dumb or something
It is kinda common sense that someone who is here illegally wouldn't have a background to be checked
>>
>>34542673
Didn't think there was a real background check system in the land of the free.
>>
>>34542480
yes they can. all they have to do is go to a gun show or buy from someone local
>>
>>34542640
>someone you know to be illegally in the country
>having the legal paperwork to even do a background check, open a bank account, rent a car or home
It's really really really really obvious anon.
>>34542713
Just because you're in america doesn't make you an american.
>>
>>34542716
Well they can buy it locally in a face to face deal, or if the gun show is in a state that allows private sales they can again do a face to face deal.
Most vendors at gunshows require a CHL, pistol permit, FFL to ensure a clean background check, or will have you actually get a ncis background check at the event.

There is no gunshow loophole. It's a meme.
>>
>>34542821
oh i live in mississippi we don't have any of that bullshit here. u just hand them the money and they hand you the gun
>>
>>34542873
>Private firearms transfers (i.e., transfers by non-firearms dealers) are not subject to a background check requirement in Mississippi, although federal and state purchaser prohibitions still apply. See the Mississippi Background Checks section.

Yeah a few states still do the face to face legally. If you're at a gunshow you have to do one of those 'winknudge' things. The shitty part about gun shows is that you're getting ripped off 100% of the time.
>>
>>34542912
i wouldn't say 100% of the time. my dad used to make 50-60k a year buying guns and nazi stuff at gun shows and reselling it on gunbroker. if you go to them enough and get to know the people they will cut you deals
>>
>>34542974
Let me guess, that was before the Brady handgun violence act of 1993, which required sales to be put through a background check?

>implemented on February 28, 1994, applied to handgun sales only. On November 30, 1998, the permanent provisions of the Brady Act went into effect, establishing the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) (see below), and extending the Act’s application to purchasers of long guns.
>>
>>34542996
na i dont even think gunbroker was a thing before 1993
>>
>>34543017
For sure not. As he is not a vendor or retailer or FFL it doesn't apply to him as mississippi still has legal face to face sales. I think gunbroker started up in 1999?
>>
>>34542806
Illegals in California can open a bank account, rent a car (and get a driver's license), and OWN a home.
>>
East German .223 Weiger mags work in a bulgarian slr106 pistol?
>>
Can a rifle slamfire if you use the butt as a bludgeon? Like, say, jabbing a door with an m14 stock
>>
>>34545170
if its an open bolt gun maybe. but you'd have to hit something pretty hard.
>>
>>34545170
Slamfire isn't the word you're looking for. Slamfire is when the firing pin gets stuck in the out position and the rifle fires each time the action cycles. What you want to know is if it's drop-safe. Some rifles can indeed fire if jostled hard enough. I'm not sure about an M14 specifically. Why are you asking this?
>>
>>34545170
Yes a firearm(loaded and chambered) can discharge from hitting something or dropping it on the stock but its pretty uncommon with stock modern triggers.
It's a problem with modified/lightened triggers.

Gonna need you to stop being a dumbass.
>>
>>34545818
What's the point of disorienting a target if it disoriented me as well?
>>
>>34545837
Read the instructions that came with your x300.

>points to carpet or cloth = fine you won't be blinded
>pointing to glossy walls or hardwood floors means you will be blinded

The x300 is designed to be pointed at people wearing clothes.
>>

Asked in the last thread but no one responded so I'll try again
Does "Want To Buy" on armslist ever pay off? I see a bunch of WTBs listed on there from over a month ago for fairly common items, I don't think sellers actually pay any attention to them.
>>
>>34542480
What Pro-Gun Arguments are there for the UK? Trying to argue this, and I know I'm losing atm, just want a decent argument to counter "You are bringing something that can only cause harm into the system that could otherwise not be used for other purposes" The best I can think is the harm is not that large of a difference to matter

Armslist is pretty hit-or-miss for me. Sometimes I'll post an ad for a common/popular gun for a decent price and get no responses. Then I'll post some busted ass POS and ask for way too much money and get like 20 emails in an hour. WTB has worked for me in the past, it's just a crap shoot.

>>
>>34543980

Doing that stuff is much dif than buying a gun, seeing as one requires you to be a citizen of the U.S. the other shit you can do with out ever stepping foot in the u.s.
>>

>>
>>34545988
I feel you, I left it as soon as I turned 18 many years ago. It was easily one of the best decisions I've made in my life.
>>
>>34545960
You don't have to be a citizen to buy a gun though. Just a legal resident.
>>
I want to get a stock for my scorpion evo 3. Since I believe this makes it a SBR, do I need to fill out the ATF forms before or after I buy the stock? I've never tried to buy title 2 shit before and don't want to get a surprise visit by the ATF.
>>
>>34546684
Constructive possession is retarded. Just by having a rifle and a hacksaw you are in constructive possession of a SBR. Realistically though they need a basis for the charges to stick in court, and that is intent. Filing your forms proves beyond a reasonable doubt you intend to comply and makes it quite easy to argue that it is unreasonable to suggest you would risk a felony just to use your stock a few months early. No form and you might have a bad time.

>>34521729
Remember that this is only a question because barrels are getting shorter. Both rounds won't do shit sub 2,000 fps. The temporary cavity needs fast speeds for hydroshock and 2800 fps for proper fragmentation 11.5" can't do that

Stoner designed the 5.56 to be fired at 3,000 fps out of a 20" barrel. 5.45 would benefit a ton with a longer barrel.

My question: .50 Beowulf 20" barrels
>>
>>34548523
Alexander Arms says .50 Beo is already past the point of diminishing returns out of 16" barrels in their FAQ.

The way criminals in Mexico get guns is they hire white Americans to do the buying for them. Nobody expects a white guy to be working for Drug cartels, but that's exactly why they do that. America has two big black market exports, guns and horse-meat. Guns are sold to Americans who then sell them to gang members and then end up in Mexico. And Horses who get sold at auction more often than not are butchered and processedturned into horse-meat in Canada and then eaten in Europe and Quebec.

Whenever you are in Canada or wherever and you are eating horse, make sure its locally sourced and not American imports, because American horses are treated with drugs that were never meant to be consumed by humans.

There was a food give away at a local high school. I went to grab some food because my grandma asked me to do it for her.

There were a hundred five foot tall obese mexican women in line within fifteen minutes. There were fifteen when I arrived. I almost wanted to call ICE just to see how many of them tried to escape.

Meanwhile they were pulling up in brand new cars on chrome rims and had a minimum of one child per person. A few had five or more kids each.

Ausfailian trying to get into shooting here, been to public ranges a few times now and really enjoying it but now I'm looking to pick up a gun of my own, basically narrowed myself down to a .22lr rifle because of cheap ammo and not needing to drive down to fucking woopwoop just to shoot the damn thing, might get something bigger later down the line but this is my stepping stone.

I mention this because I'm pretty restricted and am basically only able to own a bolt, lever or pump rifle.
Wondering what I should be looking for in a .22 rifle purely for recreational target shooting.

I'm so fucking sorry.

Have a read of this.
http://www.firearmownersunited.com/2016/04/18/how-to-get-your-firearm-license-in-western-australia/

It's from the FOU team and they are pretty based (they even post here on occasion)

As for a 22 you can get a Norinco .22 with scope for $250 as a real cheap entry to shooting however you do get what you pay for in terms of quality/accuracy.
https://www.cleaverfirearms.com/Products.aspx?Category=Rifles&Brand=47

However a Savage MKII will run you $565 and comes with glass as well as a 10rnd mag. I'd much rather recommend this as a starter because it is pretty good quality and a pretty attractive price.

https://www.cleaverfirearms.com/Products.aspx?Category=Rifles&Brand=55
(just Ctrl F Savage MKII to find the product.)

You can get guns shipped from dealer to dealer. I live in QLD and have bought guns from Claremont Firearms in Perth.

Shipping from them is ~$70 for a firearm due to it having to be couriered as "dangerous goods" so I'd imagine it would be the same for you buying from them. Or you could ask your local to order in a firearms you like, it's your call.

Yes it is required. Engraving is the easiest part of the process though, find a shop that sells suppressors in your area and generally they will do engraving.

>Also, is there even that big of a difference between braces and stocks these days now that braces can be shouldered?

Laws can change, hell even the current legitimate way with tax stamps and such could change, however the tax stamp method has existed for a significant portion of time, and most feel is less likely to change. having used both and owned both I would suggest you buy a brace for now, and put in your paperwork for your full stamp so you are 100% "legitimate"

.308 will more than .270 what you want to do is use lighter bullets for smaller deer.

Bullet weight and type can change terminal performance of both quite greatly.

Ex. standard bullet weights
.308 125gr - 185gr.
.270 90gr to 130gr
>>

GunBroker doesn't ship shit to anybody - it's an auction site like eBay. I just bought a gun off it the other day.

Not wearing a dress. If you have to then your holster depends on length. Short or mid length dress, garter belt carry. Ankle or off body carry for a full length.

Super lightweight snub, subcompact, or derringer. I suggest a Ruger LCR in .38 or 9mm. It's got a lightweight polymer frame, no snag hammerless design, and small profile. Glock 42 or 43 is also good. Derringers are going to be the easiest to conceal but offer little else.

Something light gathered at the waist with a thick belt or ribbon. A corset belt can offer enough material to conceal something with a nice flat profile, but the obvious answer is to go to a suit if you need to conceal.

A jacket, blouse, belt and skirt aren't proper evening wear but evening wear and carrying are hard to mix.

There are two popular schools of thought; DA/SA is worse because you have to learn two trigger pulls and deal with the heavy DA pull, and DA/SA is better because the SA pull is better than a striker fired pull. There is truth to both, which is why it's a tradeoff.
There is one thing that goes unmentioned here that is specifically for carry. A DA/SA can have a competition tier SA pull without making the DA pull any lighter, retaining safety for condition 2 carry, whereas a striker has only the one trigger to tinker with and will become quite unsafe with an ultralight competition trigger.
>>
>>34545892
>>34545945
Yes, you're bringing deadly weapons into the system, but that means that private, law-abiding individuals can choose to be prepared to defend themselves.

As the system is right now, you're not very likely to be attacked with a weapon, but if you are, you're straight fucked as you have no legal means to self-defense. With gun rights, there's more of a chance you'll be attacked by an armed assailant. Don't try to deny that, it's true. But the tradeoff is, you yourself can be armed. You with gun vs. criminal with gun, is a lot better of a situation than you with nothing vs. criminal with knife or improvised gun.
>>
>>34556622
Adding on to this, if I may, is the role of firearms as the great equalizer. In a society without firearms a strong man is unto a god. He can rape and reave with impunity until the police arrive - if they ever are called. A 90 pound woman simply cannot go toe to toe against a 180 pound man in a fistfight, and less lethal methods of incapacitation are unreliable. By removing Samuel Colt's Peacemaker we do away with peace, and return to the dark ages.
>>
>>34542480
Background checks and ID are required when purchasing from a gun store, but usually not when buying from a private individual--depending on the state. So as long as they're not in a state with universal background checks, then they can do it legally (by legally I mean, without breaking any other laws than being an illegal immigrant with a firearm). Even if they are, the easy illegal way is a straw purchase--hand your legal resident buddy the cash and have him go to the store without you and buy it for you. Just like kids having adults buy them beer, it's technically illegal but completely impossible to enforce.

So yes, it's easy.

Anti-gun is sexist. Men can walk around safely because they know they won't be targeted, but women take every step in fear knowing that criminals are waiting to rob them and rape them and there's nothing they can do about it.

Men are naturally endowed with the means to defend themselves, and gun control is a means of maintaining that patriarchal advantage.

So the .45-70, which is the .50 beo's equivalent in every way, needs 20"+ to do its job yet a .50 beo is different.

Nah Bill's looking to push cheap products at a high price.

I remember reading about .458 SOCOM 20" having a "negligible" 500 fps difference. But considering .458's mass 500 fps makes a whopping difference.

Protip: Bill is trying to save money and maximize production.

Kind of a dumb question but what brands of 9mm are good? I have no idea what I'm doing and the Sig brand is 19 bucks per 50 rounds yet I see people on /k/ buying it in bulk. But at the same time I rather not shoot something shitty through my gun.

Should I even worry about brand or whatever? Aren't all bullets the same?

How long is it supposed to take to clean a handgun? I just spent nearly 2 hours cleaning out a used .45 I bought at a gun show (don't think the last owner nor the vendor cleaned it before selling, alhough granted a chunk of that time spent was just figuring out how to take it apart and then put it back together) and just under 1 hour cleaning my 9mm
I put ~100 rounds through both at the range today, maybe a little less through the .45
Is this normal or am I fucking stupid?

This, original USA was basically the EU. However, we have cars and infrastructure now that connects everyone, plus our federal government grew in power, and since the States were new they didn't have the long standing identity of European nations, so we're basically all feel more like "Americans" than citizens of our individual states (unless you're Texan).

>And you're wrong, travelling by rail is so much more comfortable and hassle-free than flying it's not even funny.
Uh... we have rails for long distances if that's what you mean. Nobody uses them since flying is so much faster, and our country is fucking huge. The area of the entire EU fits inside the sum of our collective *-Mart's parking lots.
>And those internet speeds are miserable.
The land was cheap. Now I know why. Not my final destination though, my next move will probably be closer towards Portland. Harder to get a nice, contiguous estate there but I need fiber optic damnit.

Honestly the biggest inconvenience to our size is upgrading tech in stores and shit. We still don't have tap to pay in most places just because Dickshit's Emporium doesn't want to shell out for 10k of the things. You'll see CRT monitors for workstations in stores and the like.

after being convinced by based /k/ i was informed not to get a sccy look at other guns. Layaway if i need to.
Well i found a couple Bera's at a different LGS today in .380, its not 9mm like i wanted, but they're decently priced under $300 new and seem pretty good based on the reviews. I'm very tempted to jump on it.
Or they have a used S&W Shield in .40 for around $360. Buying the shield guarantees i'd have to layaway it for an extra month or so. But at least it means i'd get that gun.
wat do

>Don't get a Sccy
Good decision. Saw one crack its slide at the range the other day.

If you can conceal it, don't compromise on 9mm. A new SW Shield is only like $40 more expensive than that, and I'd take a 9mm Shield over the .40 for the extra round in the mag. FWIW, I love mine.
>>
>>34567670
the one extra round isnt too big of a deal to me. And to be completely honestly, i've just never owned my own pistol before.
The Thunder is well within my price range, and since its in .380, i feel like its a good round for me.
The .40 shield i saw looked to be in great condition, nearly new, i just dont want to jump into a pistol with a more powerful round due to my lack of experience.
All that being said, the Bersa is cheaper and is within my budget. I'd be able to get it by my birthday next month. The main negatives with the shield is that I'd have to keep it on layaway for a few extra weeks, and I didnt want to go more powerful than 9mm due to my own lack of experience with handguns
Sadly that specific LGS didnt have a wide selection of 9mm and they've just changed owners and made some massive renovations so they're trying to show people they arent a shithole anymore. thus no good trade ins currently.
>>
>>34551744
As long as YOU didn't lie on the form, you are ok, federal law prevents the dealer from selling it to you, it does not prevent you from purchasing it, and you would be legally allowed to purchase the shockwave (or a handgun) through a private sale of your state allows them, since purchasing and possessing aren't illegal
>>
>>34567794
Oh BERSA. I thought you meant BERETTA.

Yeah the Thunder is good.

Don't worry too much about power though. .40 and .45 aren't going to spontaneously transmute your hands into nuclear fire because you're inexperienced. The first pistol I fired was a compact 1911 in .45 and I had no issue.

The only reason I recommend 9mm over anything else is because it's cheap as balls, and you want to practice as much as possible.
>>
>>34567959
yeah 40 is more expensive.
I suppose as it stands currently, the Thunder is my best choice. some people say it stove pipes. I suspect this is due to limp wristing.

Just bought this Mauser C96 with the holster/stock, just to be sure, the C96 is NOT considered to be an SBR with the stock attached as long as it's an original C96 and an original German-made C96 stock since it's considered to be an antique, correct?
>>
>>34556543

According to this letter from the the BATF, it has been determined that the "Mauser 1896 pistol" is classified as a C&R firearm and that an 1896 Mauser Pistol with a reproduction holster/stock that closely approximates or duplicates the original holster/stock, is excluded from the provisions of the National Firearms Act."

So basically even with a reproduction stock, as long as it is a true reproduction of the original stock, it is okay to use and not have it be considered an SBR.
