Open carry swords

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Starting this fall, adults in Texas can openly carry knives with blades longer than 5.5 inches.
In fact, swords, spears, daggers, sabers, bowie knives and machetes are all perfectly fine to tote around.

>>
I don't understand why this was such big news No one cares, many states allow the open carry of fixed blades in public. Fuck, EVEN CALIFORNIA allows the open carry of fixed blade knives/swords and has for all time.

Can you guys open carry pistols yet? That law was stupid.
>>
>>34542916
>absolutely castillian
>>
>>34543310
yeah you can open/concealed carry with a license, don't need one for rifles or shotguns though
>>
>>34543392
That's good at least, is the license hard to get? I don't mind meeting antigunners half-ish way.

I'll go through licensing and background checking. But upon successful completion I won't to be able to carry like law enforcement. I want presumption of good character. I want no restricted areas (other than I guess like family law court or some shit where it makes more sense because people will be under the influences of severe stress).
>>
>>34539240

Maybe an "hola", or "as-salaam 'alaykum" if you're in Houston.
>>
>>34543535

Ask him to calculate the time he has to block the bullet once fired.

The best chance for a swordsman is to get in there with the blade before the gunman has his weapon leveled. That's only really possible within 15 feet or so.
>>
Related question - anyone know where to get a nice sword, with a hilt and belt? Preferably cavalry style.

I'm trying to find something to compliment a suit, something "elegant" that isn't a katana.
>>
>>34543808
IF the blade is in the right place when the bullet fires... 99.9% chance the blade will shatter and the bullet will continue merrily along. It's been tested, youtube it.

That said, yes, it is possible to impact some rounds out of the air. Some peak-human weeaboo from weeabonia cut an airsoft pellet going 800~fps, and that's not necessarily his limit. Youtube it also.

a) Buy a Swiss army issued sword. Any rusty grunt sword will do, as long as it has either the Swiss crest or your Cantons arms on it.
b) Commission a proper sword at a reputable maker, custom silver fittings and your family's arms as well as your Cantons arms should be on it, not that people take you for a gypsy. A Degen type sword is preferred, albeit all one handed types should do. Cheap swords from the internetz will not do at all!
c) inherit one of the above
d) if you are absolutely poor fag and of gypsy heritage, then carry your Swiss army bayonet, at least you are still a man.

I just took the class for it last weekend.
You basically pay $45 for a class where they spend a single afternoon covering what the current laws are.
After that is a shooting test that is easy enough for first time shooters to pass.
Then you take fingerprints and pay the state $140 for the paperwork.
(Law changes in September to drop the price from $140 down to $40.)
License should come in the mail in 4-6 weeks.

The reason being triggered is a joke is because it denotes an outrageous reaction to small offenses. Getting angry over the course of decades at an outright attempt to make enforcing the country's laws impossible to farm votes and destroy one's homeland's culture to make it more European is not a small offense, neither is the wholesale subversion of the media and the corruption of both political parties into a complete farce. Righteous anger is not something to regret.

Little known fact of history, Switzerland hat very strong military ties with France for centuries, in the 17th and 18th century Switzerland did the heavy lifting for France and supplied the majority of French line infantry regiments.
This military tradition seeped in, and French styled protocols, uniforms and weapons became the norm.

Swiss Saber is a damn sexy blade, but curved swords have never really been my style. Leaf blades on the other hand make me diamonds. Oh man, if you've such a thing for the shape...
Make a bronze short sword.
From scratch it can be a good piece of work especially if you do you own casting (you should, it's not hard) but you'll see how fucking great it feel to have your own antique anti-gobbo dirk.

It's fun because you really can experiment with the shape a lot and it's a bitching sort of mantle-piece that'll get people talking. It might not be your coveted large-ish leaf blade but, if you're into that, you might also make yourself a backup.

Basically, here's how it works.

Normally in Souls games, weapons have a base damage and scaling damage based on your stats (so if the base damage is 100, it does 100 damage plus more damage derived from the stats it scales with). There's also upgrade paths that grant elemental damage, and fire/chaos in Dark Souls 1 is one of them. Fire/Chaos scales with NONE of your stats (although Chaos gets a bonus if you're in human form), and to compensate it gets a shitton of extra fire damage. In effect, with a big two-handed sword enhanced with Chaos, you have a weapon that doesn't do QUITE as much damage as that sword would on the regular upgrade path at the same level with significant stat investment...but it's close. And it doesn't need you to invest in Strength/Dexterity beyond the minimums needed to wield it.

So what do you do with all of those stat points you're saving? You put it all into your hit points, stamina, and how much you can carry, using rings and that bearded mask to improve how much you can carry, so that you can wear the heaviest, most protective armor in the game and STILL dodge at the HIGHEST speed.

Basically, with that build, you're an incredibly durable, fast, annoying tank who does a ton of damage and takes almost none, plus you have a close-range flamethrower spell that breaks through shields.

>forging
There's none involved.
Bronze is 100% casting and shaping (mostly filling).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R62TPFzBQ40 here's to give you a general idea of the process. The name of the video is wrong, again, it's not forging.

>Building a Gas Fired Crucible Furnace by Gingery, David J.
>Foundrywork for the Amateur by Aspin, B. Terry
>The Complete Handbook of Sand Casting by Ammen, C.

These three books would be your baseline introduction to the craft. Building a furnace capable of melting copper/tin/aluminium is easy (either gas or charcoal fired). Get used to it by doing some simple castings in aluminium first, then go up to bronze and experiment and find you favorite type (I like aluminium-bronze) to make a blade out of. I've made a few rondel out of aluminium as an introductory project. Beware that it's not a simple hobby with no footprint. It's not cheap or overly pricey to get started but if you are into crafts it can be a great thing to learn. If you already know how to carve wood then you already have a good leg jammed in that door.

As for safety... you figure that one out. I'm not your mother.

He probably panicked because he was an idiot and didn't practice emergency escapes. I had to do this for a class in college and it's actually pretty jarring if you are in cold water.

If the photo is from 10 years ago, no. If it's recent, maybe. Here, have some weapons.

You can already OC fixed blades in Texas, there is just a restriction on length. 5 inches and under has been legal forever, which is honestly 95% of knives

>but saying a cadet is a real soldier is like saying a little league baseball player is a real pro baller.
Like half of the commissioning cadets at A&M are SMP....
Which means they've been to basic training, AIT, and drill with a reserves unit.
The other half that commission are contracted and go to summer training including airborne, air assault, have CAC cards, and get paid Army money each month.

You can say "not real soldiers" all you want but the Army pays them, send them to training, and issues gear to them.

>but I know I'd have no use for it

Not true. I thought it'd be the same for my 9.5" busse, but I actually do find uses for it now that I occasionally carry it.

Same as how I never thought I'd need duct tape regularly until I started keeping about a 3' emergency roll on my keys

Thanks for the info anon. Sounds very interesting. I've always liked creating things and what better thing to create than a weapon. Glad you mentioned the wood carving bit too because I've got a decent amount of wood working experience. Spent good chunks of my childhood summers making wooden swords with my Grandpa. I honestly might take this up. Just bought a bunch of weapons though, so I gotta let my fun bucks replenish themselves for a bit.

Deepeeka's Molay Longsword. It's their homage to Jacques de Molay, the last grandmaster of The Knight's Templar.

>also hows the quality of it?
Mine's a lemon, blade is off kilter. Gotta send it back to koa. So I haven't actually used it for anything. It is heavy and unbalanced though so that's not a good sign.
Deepeeka does use high carbon steel, BUT they use a threaded pommel so I'm a little leery of using them for full contact duels or self defence.

The other crusader sword is a Deepeeka as well. And it is much better than the Molay and cheaper. The sword has a near perfect balance, it's a helluva lot lighter and it's lightning quick.

The mace is a Windlass. It's my first mace and it is far lighter and easier to control than I thought a mace would be. Plus it was robust enough for me to pulverize a dead tree that was about a foot thick. No damage except for a slightly bent flange from striking a knothole at a weird angle

The sword with the matching dagger are Cold Steel and by far my favorites.
>inb4 lol Cold Steel
They make solid, damn near unbreakable weapons that tend to be slightly heavier than their historical counterparts. Their promo videos are just icing on the cake.
Pros: Blade stays keen, very quick with a 2-handed grip, nigh indestructible, grip fits snuggly in your hand.
Cons: Slightly heavier than a long sword should be, balance is an inch or two off, the seam in the grip can dig into palms without gloves, cross guard can come loose and rattle ever so slightly.

Don't know about the cane or knife. They were gifts. The knife might be heirloom quallity but idk for sure. Seems to be damascus and the hilt is made with camel bone. Pretty mantle pieces.
