sweaty ben has k31's tell me not to buy one tomorrow edition
>>34536995
They will be overpriced and overrated on condition.
>>34537006
he wants $500 and the condition looked good in the video
>>34536995
That's a decent price but you shouldn't give him money it will only encourage further gouging.
>>34537055
Yeah I know. Im having a hell of a time finding one anywhere besides gb though and those are even more expensive
>>34536995
He also has some 1903/A3s too; who's biting?
Fuark I know he had em for 300 five months ago but I REALLY want a K31 right now
>>34537093
me probably, I always said a k31 is the only thing id buy from him
>>34537145
I'd like a K31 but using a straight-pull gun while shooting left-handed sucks. I hate being left-eye dominant.
>>34537167
It's not hard at all. I do it just fine.
>>34537167
>K31 but using a straight-pull gun while shooting left-handed sucks.
Luckily for you, you can buy new replacement handles that put the bolt knob on the opposite side.
>>34537187
Eh, I'm just kidding, It makes reloading my AK faster at least.
Sweaty Ben please learn how to breath through your nose
>>34537066
I found one on armslist that was 350 and in grea condition and it and with a sling. The guy even had some horn daddy ammo to go along with it but it wasn't local and you can't ship ammo with USPS.
>>34537327
Yeah I noticed that, I wonder if he's sick or something. He did seem to be heaving more than usual if anything.
>>34537360
yeah I saw that and every other one that has been for sale on armslist the last 2 months
>>34537167
>>34537187
>being wronghanded
>2017
>>34537565
I'm ambidextrous in most things. But eye dominance is a either or situation.
>>34537597
did that get refinished? the bluing looks like new almost
>falling for the eye dominance meme
Something only a milsperg could do
>>34537597
Same with me. I'm right handed but left-eye dominant. Weird.
>>34537637
No that's just the photo editing. It doesn't look near as pristine in person.
>>34537659
It's a fairly common occurance.
Contract Mausers anybody?
>>34537816
Me
You guys see Tim's new video with the type 99 sniper?
Well, to be fair $500 for those K31's isn't a bad price. Anywhere else you are going to pay even more for ones in worse condition.
I should have bought one, but I picked up a K11 instead.
>>34537816
My Vz24 had a contract with someone, unfortunately the crest was scrubbed.
Think ill trade a K98K RC for it.
>>34536995
To find a Steyr M95 long rifle, do I just need to keep being patient? Feel like I can never find the things.
>>34538138
>but I picked up a K11 instead.
I bought a 96/11, and even paid for hand select: what I got was one that a drunk Swiss bubba had hold of and refinished the stock fucking horribly...we're talking totally rounded edges and the metal being proud in relation to its fitment into the wood.
I think about redoing it a lot, but dunno if it'd be worth it.
>>34538191
where did you get that from?
>>34536995
I got a Yugo K98k I'm thinking about selling for 400. Pristine barrel.
>>34538212
Fucking Classic. I'm pissed it's in shitty condition as it is. Got jewed
>>34538212
>>34538191
Forgot to mention the shellac he applied ran all over, and he even fucking missed some spots
>>34538231
shit like this is making me hesitant about trying to get a k31 tomorrow but I think im just gonna roll the dice. Sweaty ben said they were from someones private collection which doesnt mean shit but I dont think someone would collect one like that
>>34537028
>$500 is a decent price on K31s
>>34538266
welcome to the current year and market
>>34538328
you try bitching sweaty ben out?
>>34538191
I bought it from Classic, no hand select or anything and got exactly what I wanted.
Built 1916, all matching, great condition except discoloration on the left side of the stock and it even had the sling.
>>34538282
I understand that. It doesn't mean it's not bullshit. The rifles are no more rare than they were before, they're just being sold by jews instead of reasonable people. Private sellers of firearms ALWAYS overvalue their shit.
>>34538337
Well for me, I'm done buying surplus I can't personally examine or see individual pictures of, after having gotten that rifle.
If I saw it in real life, I wouldn't have bought it.
>bitch sweaty Ben out?
It didn't actually occur to me, wish I did.
>>34537816
If you really wanted to be technical/pedantic, all Mausers are contract Mausers.
>>34538161
Just give up now.
Na, you gotta be patient man. I'm looking at a couple myself right now.
>>34538341
FUCK. I'm not buying from classic again. That was my first and will be my only purchase from them.
Pic related is the rifle, it looks deceptively nice, but in person it really isn't. My M91 Mosin has way better fit and finish than this rifle.
>>34538392
>I'm looking at a couple myself right now.
I only see one on GB. Where are you looking?
>>34538400
That sucks, but it does highlight the problem with classic is that you essentially get random luck of the draw.
>>34538427
You shouldn't be subject to the luck of the draw when you pay extra for something when they still had plenty in stock.
>>34538426
>giving up your milsurp secrets
>>34538440
I got a secret source too, but he doesn't have a Steyr long rifle.
>>34538400
Your mosin probably got less use than that.
Just pointing that out.
>>34538438
That's why you should never buy the handpick option. Unless you get to pick it, they'll give you whatever crappy thing they grab first and laugh at that extra ten bucks you gave them.
>>34538438
Yeah with hand select that was kinda dirty.
That was the best they could do out of 5?
>>34537649
A for effort there buddy.
>>34538516
I don't think that was the best they could do, cos they still had plenty left when I bought. Like >>34538469 said, they probably didn't bother.
>>34538469
I paid fucking 20 extra, for something in ok shape. To be fair, the barrel is fantastic, but what Swiss rifle doesn't have a great barrel?
I used to do warehouse work for SOG and I can confirm that they did not actually do anything extra for hand selects. When I first started I used to run a quick inspection and pick out a nicer one for hand selects, but I got chewed out for wasting time and had to stop. I would assume it's pretty similar elsewhere.
>>34536995
I got a conundrum: I'm a poorfag that tends to devote a fair amount of his income to collecting nice milsurp, and have a pretty ok collection.
What I'm having a hard time deciding, is whether I should buy another milsurp, or a GOOD .22. I don't get to shoot too often, and again I'm a poorfag, so ammo is spendy too...in my opinion, in spite of having been shooting for over 20 years, I think I'm a horse shit shot.
Should I just buy a good .22 and git gud, or buy milsurp while it's still available? I got a Marlin M60, but the sights are atrocious, and the high comb is uncomfortable as fuck on my Asian-tier cheekbones.
What do?
>>34538770
>got chewed out for wasting time
That's why I'll never work in any warehouses ever again, cos all you do is get bitched at all fucking day about your pick speeds.
t. worked at The Sportsmans Guide warehouse, among many other warehouses
>>34538775
Buy a surplus 22. TU-KKW, those Mosin trainers, etc.
>>34538463
Possibly.
>>34538898
Interesting idea. I was thinking on getting a CZ 455 trainer.
>>34538775
The model 60 is a fantastic gun, just get some aftermarket sights or a cheek pad to go on it. Also buds had mosin trainers recently and I'm very seriously considering one
>>34537093
Maybe me, though probably not.
>All these assholes that bought 20 guns from the CMP.
>>34538360
Invisible hand, free market, yadda yadda yadda.
>>34538775
You the trap with the nice ass?
Get a .22, you won't regret having a cheap gun to fuck with.
>>34538962
I mean the cheek piece is too fucking high. I know it's a good rifle and I've had it forever, but it's never been comfortable.
Also, I have to pick up brass if I shoot on my mom's fiances land, so that's a consideration as well...and here in Minneapolis, that's the best bet, cos the public ranges here FUCKING SUCK.
>>34538988
>You the trap with the nice ass?
No.
The hard part is knowing I could buy another .22 any time, but surplus isn't forever and only gets costlier.
>>34537093
They're ex-cmp guns that they want ~$1100 for. No ty
>>34539026
Yeah, but a decent .22 costs about a quarter of a cheap milsurp. Also if you already have a .22 you can sell.trade then you can bring the cost down further.
>>34539034
Can't sell the Marlin, too much sentimental value. My grandma bought it for me when I was 13.
>>34539045
*shrugs*
A 10/22 still costs no more than a Turkish Mauser.
>>34539051
True. I think my heart already knows what I'll probably do: is I'll be an idiot and buy both and be broke as fuck until my check after that. But I am getting my taxes back at the start of August, so there's that.
>>34536995
>Sweaty Ben sold No.4 MkI's for $699, no hand select option, no guarantees, no take backs
>Buying any surp from that greasy kike
Yeah, no thanks, I'm not a mark. Ben's prices trend so far towards top dollar that you should avoid giving him money as a principle. If you want to pay that much, buy one from an auction and support local shops/collectors.
>>34538426
Can't say until/unless the one on GB goes higher in price.
>>34539151
I don't think I could ever have the patience to buy things on auction
>>34539236
Milsurp teaches patience.
>>34537597
you seem to be knowledgeable on lebels.
im thinking of getting one.But
1.how hard is ammo to find/how expensive
2.just curious on the action strength
3. about what inch sized groups could expect at 100 yards?
pls answer
>>34539118
People will buy from them because it's convenient and they advertise on YouTube and Facebook. It's too hard to find any milsurp for those people and they'd rather buy it right now than wait for a Gunbroker auction to end.
>>34539252
I've got 8 milsurp, and no patience like that yet.
>>34539270
I get that, but it's unfortunate that it ends up artificially raising the price on surp.
Also, fuck auctions. That's about the only way I consider buying surp, but I'll be goddamned if some dickhead doesn't bid me up every time during the last hour. That's the only time I'd ever consider buying milsurp from Ben.
>>34539236
>mfw about to win a USP compact for $200
You just gotta git gud, son
I'll do it if the price isn't over 500.
>>34539266
>you seem to be knowledgeable on lebels.
A clever act on my part.
Ammo is only made by PPU and is seasonal in production. So you either do like many French gun owners and buy it up as soon as you see it or you reload (components are available year round).
The action is plenty strong, it can handle 7.5 French just fine which is comparable to 308.
Accuracy is surprising. Mine is equal to my K31 and many people will say the same thing. They're well regarded for accuracy.
>>34539329
Is it in .40? If it is, I'll give you about tree fiddy for the link so I can bid you up.
>>34539365
Fuddyfive, my good man

>>34539374

>>34539484
I get that its just how fucking maddening would it be getting robbed and seeing all yer shit gone.
this coming from a guy who tried to buy a Styer M95 at a cabelas that came back from the bg check as stolen
>>34539484
I got one just because it helps organize shit.
>>34539374
I'm a poorfag making just barely over 11 an hour and live on my own.
Before anyone says anything, I am in the process of getting a 15 an hour job, then hitting up trade school this fall.
>>34539385
It's a shitty feel: you will have guns, but no ammo or a safe.
I want to in learn my nigger tier thinking of buying guns but no ammo or proper storage, but getting the guns themselves just feels more important.
>>34539515
Ayyy, I tried to buy an m95 at Cabela's that got bought as I walked in.
>>34539434
That room is the safe.
>>34539542
There's nothing wrong with not having a safe, but not having ammo to shoot your guns is dumb. Even if you don't shoot all of them or shoot often, it's the second most essential thing besides the gun itself.
>>34539542
Yah, I just bought the first, and probably only, box of ammo for my M91/38. I still haven't shot either of my Arisakas or my Garand.
>>34539523
I'm most likely older than you. Money comes with age. I also don't have kids.
>>34539523
Dont sweat it. pick yer price battles and spend your freetime not buying guns researching guns and studying the guns and reading guns and gun guns guns guns
>>34539584
Skipping kids (and women) is a great way to get more 'surp. Only sad thing is no one to pass it on to.

Well that is the trick isn't it?
>>34539626
gonna be 100% here although parts of it might seem like BS cause its 4chan but the messege is still prety clear
A friend of my father has about 5 safes FULL of shit that was made before 1980. were talking tons of pre ban shit and just about every surp you can think of and then at least 2. like fucking IRISH constabulary enfields, a prototype snider. french p38s, ross rifles, lee metfords, K31s, radoms, like probably 15 carl gustavs, every, single, german, mauser. the list goes ON
Mind you hes had this shit for 40 years and it took 25 years of my life before my dad even mentioned this mans existence to me.
One day my dad said "so I told him youre starting to collect guns and hed like to show you shit if your interested" I was like hell ya. so I went and finger fucked everything. Towards the end he lamented that much of it sits in the safe and said he'll probably set it all to auction someday.
The greatest part, is that he told me That if at anypoint i wanted something, he said "he'll take a look around and give me the rights to it before he auctions. Essentially saying I have first pick before it all gets sent off. MY FUCKING FACE WHEN
the moral of the story is that you may not have kids, but that doesnt mean there isnt anyone out there you can mold into your next mini kommando
>>34539270
Man that mauser is all chewed up. I wish i could take pictures as good as yours of my argentine which is in better condition.
>>34539806
It's worn, but not really beat that bad. Most are dents and dings. Just take more pictures until you get some you like, then repeat the process. Also its Chilean
>>34539786
I think I had a somewhat similar situation when I was like 15:
>have grumpy old 90 something year old neighbor
>none of us really ever talked to him
>don't think he had much if any contact with his kids or grandkids
>one winter, my dad and I decide to be nice and shovel his driveway one day
>he invites us in when we're done
>shows us his guns, some new in the box
>could of swore I heard him mutter in passing "you can have it"
>didn't want to seem presumptuous by asking if he just said I could have his guns, was too autistic and nervous to ask him to repeat himself
>he died a few months later
I still sometimes wonder if he actually offered his guns to me, and what happened to all of them when his grandkids cleared the place out later on.
>>34539851
Still has the nitre bluing from 1909.
>>34539773
Indeed, and I've largely decided that the low likelihood of success does not warrant the effort required to make the attempt.
>>34539786
Yeah, I could I suppose. I'd love to have a shooting range where I could find impressionable kids and offer them cheap/free milsurp to get them hooked.
Original argentine mauser stripper clips in the white, some marked FMMAP B and others D.M.
Alright /msg/, should I get one of the M40 helmets with the Finnish Totenkopf painted on to to go with my M39 Mosin? IMA has some original helmets with the totenkopf reproduced on it, and they look like they did a pretty good job on it. Pic related.
Bluing is relatively good on my barrel.
>>34540017
>>34540017
They do look pretty cool, although some of the skeleymans look like they were done by a kid. Hopefully you get lucky. I'm probably gonna get one of the regular Finnish M40 helmets soon.
>>34539962
Jelly. Mine has some but not much. Mostly on the bolt release and front band
>>34540062
I try my best not to touch it because it's a very fragile finish. My dumbass has done more damage to it from handling these past two years than in all 107 years of it's existence. My local shop has an immaculate brazilian 1908 mauser but i'm too poor now to afford it.
>want trench gun, but they cost ~$1,200
>see Norinco and other brands do replicas for around $300
So how are the remakes? Will they function fine without blowing up in my face?

Badly refinished and force-matched Kar.98k purveyors, with just enough wiggle room in their current sales pitch to not get sued anymore. Their M48s are merely refinished, but fuck Don Mitchell anyway. You want an M48 go:

Well, just finished switching out the ejector box on my 1895, always fun taking a gun apart. The only problem is that it is about a million degrees here in Missouri right now.
I was impressed: the bluing under the wood was, when wiped down, almost mirror like. The barrel matches, which is also a plus.
Also, got a few DM marked stripper clips, and two brass ones, really cool.

Italians really thought they were better than Hungarian/Slovenian troops, lol
>>34545993
Who won the war big boy?
Which Empire collapsed?
>>34546133
I didn't try to imply Austria-Hungary had a good war plan (getting involved in multiple fronts, and losing millions of troops as POWs to the Russians). But the Austro-Hungarian troops consistently out performed Italian troops in nearly all the battles on the Italian front. And the majority of the dual monarchy troops stationed on the southern front were Hunagarians and especially Slovenians defending the border of their homeland.
>>34545993
Imagine that, thinking you're better than your rivals.
>>34546239
Despite being involved in multiple fronts the Austro-Hungarians still outnumbered the Italians. The Italians were led by an incompetent general for 2/3rds of their involvement. If the k.u.k soldiers were that much better Italy would have lost. The Italian soldiers were also defending their homelands. It wasn't until the Germans arrived that the Austrians made any lasting gains against Italy

I noticed this when practicing loading in my room. I'll be shooting mine for the first time tomorrow.
>the lebels on gunbroker are now 1 grand
YAMEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
will the bubble pop? or just keep fucking going?
>>34545505
We know you pedant
I got a Turkish Mauser a while back in 7,92, pretty sure it's a 1903/38, bolt doesn't match. How likely is it that the headspacing is out of whack? I plan on getting more 7,92 rifles, should I just grab some headspace gauges while I'm at it?
>>34546906
Yes, and they overcharge for firearms while overstating/overexxagerating their condition. In other words, they'll list a rifle as good to very good but it will have a pitted bore and rust, with a cracked stock
>>34547622
the k31s were actually priced to the current average which I am fucking shocked by.
>>34547607
Headspace may be out of whack but it's really not a huge concern. Buying gauges won't hurt obviously but poor headspace isn't a huge issue for most guns. It'll likely only lead to slightly bulged primers and harder extractions.
so what was the price on the Classic Firearms K31s being sold today on 7/14?
what did they sell those Enfield mk4 no1s for on 7/13?
why am i not getting the email notification from classic that those guns came up for sale?
>>34547655
I got mine from Big Ben back in February for $350 it was listed as VG and supposed to be sound. It had ~3inch crack in the handguard
Is there any issue with using Hornady oneshot to clean/protect older blued firearms?
I don't see why there would be but I feel the need to ask
>>34547701
oh see I was just speaking on pricing. the descriptions are utter garbage. the k31 I bought on gunbroker a few months back I won for $460.
>>34547673
Ok thanks, I'm pretty new to milsurp so I want to be cautious with it. I'm also an AKfag so anything to do with headspacing worries me
I really need an updated surp family photo
>>34538796
Is your names Carlos?
>>34547810
No problem. Mausers aren't particularly sensitive to headspacing issues anyway.
>>34547880
No, I was like the only white guy that worked in the sportsman's guide warehouse.

Gunboards?
How much would a reblued Israeli surplus hi power be worth? I'm seeing a few on gunbroker right now but with damaged finishes, including one with a 50's dated serial numbers. I don't mind even surface wear, but the 50's one looks like it's missing bluing in patches over the lettering which I can't stand.
guys post your M39's

>>34550737
Yeah they're pretty good. More accurate and better stocks than regular Mosins for not much more. Still not always the smoothest action though.
>>34550726
I want to but all my burger friends are fucking poor and won't buy one even if I repay them
>>34550737
M39s are generally seen as the best Mosins you can get, and some of the better WW2 guns. Basically the Finns followed the same path the Swiss did, focusing on quality since they couldn't go for quantity.
If you want a quality Mosin then an M39 is the best you can get.
>>34550757
Which side of Leafland are you on? Least Coast, Best Coast or somewhere in between?
I bought an M1 Carbine at a gun show as well as some .30 Carbine ammo
Was surprised to find out that the actual bullet is tinier than a 9mm
How did anyone manage to kill gooks with this thing?
>>34550785
>inb4 "The winter coats stopped them!!!"
5.56 is much smaller than 9mm, but it's more lethal.
.30 carbine is only slightly lighter than 9mm, and goes almost twice as fast.
>>34550778
left coast, it really sucks, and the NDP (socialists) are in control now
>>34539773
is that in public land? how is it so clean?
>>34550921
It is indeed and because people regularly clean it so the DNR doesn't close it down.
What should I look for when shopping for a Mauser? I'm interested in a Turkish Mauser right now. Are there any problems or things to look out for with those rifles?
>>34551034
Matching serials is always something to look for. The most important is the bolt matching the receiver. I'm not an expert on them so I'm not sure if there's anything big to lookout for.
>>34551034
>>34551102
I heard the ammo is a bitch to get...
I had the option to buy one for $130 a few months a go with matching serials and bayonet.
Then I saw how much the 8mm ammo for it was and sadly declined. I regret not buying it just for my collection
What parts on a Brazilian 1908 are blued and how? I understand the bolt and receiver are brite but how are the others finished?
>>34551124
You fucked up because 8mm is common as fuck .
>>34551139
Where I live it's about
$1 a round. And I was in the process of paying shit off and being dumb with my money.
I still want one, just because they are Mausers at 1/4th the cost.

pretty much all milsurps are expensive to shoot
>>34551173
Well, to be honest...
I just recently like, 2 months ago REALLY started to get into guns. I made a shit load of stupid mistakes and let a lot of things ago that I will spend an arm and a leg now to get.
i.e. that Mauser for 1.
Life is a learning experience
At least I have my trusty SKS and Nugget to keep me warm at night.
>>34536995
Who is ben???????
I want to build my WWII milsurp collection, but I've recently been getting boners for the MAS-49...
Someone talk me out of this. Is it better to a get a real baguette version? Is feeding her a bitch?
>>34551199
I mean, ignoring pistols and .22s, there's still some things that aren't terribly expensive, .303 British, and 7.62 NATO, which you can get Garands in.
>>34551210
Use the internet for uncommon calibers, do buy locally for common things if they don't have stupid prices, it's good to help keep local businesses in business.

What ammo is best to shoot out of the Hakim? I was thinking about picking up Romanian ammo because it's cheaper but I'm afraid it'll stove pipe the ammo more than it's worth
>>34552514
I use Yugo surplus. And eventually PPU
>>34551328
The Syrian ones will be rougher because they never got refurbed like the French ones did. But otherwise they'll perform the same. They have a horribly heavy trigger but are otherwise a lot of fun to shoot. I never had a slam fire problem with PPU when I used it, but if you're (understandably) worried, CCI 200 primers are hard enough to negate the issue. Or a titanium firing pin.

Just luck of the draw; I got it from AIM Surplus back when they had their last run of them about 6 months ago. I was just happy to get an M48, not an M48A, since they didn't have a selection between the two.
>>34552696
I used to own a pristine M48, but traded it for an Arisaka. I regret it.

Alright, my parents are in Maine on vacation right now, and they sent me this picture they took at a flea market they were shopping at. The large bayonet on the left is a Enfield MkIII Sanderson bayonet (he told me it had Sanderson stamped on it, so I looked it up), but I have no idea what the one with the leather frog is. Any ideas?

Nice. There is something about really old Mausers, they seem like they are built to last forever. I mean, even the damn screws on my Chilean 1895 have proof marks on them.
>>34552617
So jelly. I've spent about $8000 on milsurp this year and I can't help but think that if I'd done that a decade ago I'd be done with Phase 1 and 2, instead of just scraping the end of Phase 1.
C96 for $720, this is a scam, right?
>>34553227
ive seen them that cheap. odds are it looks like a smooth bore or something though
>>34553227
Barrel's been shortened and front sight replaced. Not much collector value left in it, so not worth much.
>>34553589
Okay thanks for letting me know. I did think that front sight looked odd.
I got my M39 from sweaty Ben. Despite paying a $50 upcharge for "very good" my rifle has next to no bluing and more rust than advertised. What a cocksucker.
Oh and as a bonus, the rifle is filled with sand and plant seeds for some reason. Not impressed at all.
>>34553800
people have only been saying not to buy shit from him as long as this thread has been around
>>34553800
Somebody learned their lesson the hard way: that classic fucking sucks.
>>34553800
Back in 2012 I bought a "hand-select" Yugo M24/47 from Classic and received a rifle with a crooked barrel cross-threaded into the receiver ring. When shouldered the front sight was to the right of the rear.
I wonder if Sweaty Ben ever found that rifle; despite his signature on the delivery confirmation I got that it was returned he called me 6 months later to ask if I still had it.
>>34553227
Probably not. While not the norm, I've seen similar ones priced like that.

>>34553838
I bought a Swiss 96/11 rifle from him back in October for 300, and paid an extra 20 for nicer condition...
What I got was one with fairly shitty metal finish, a stock the previous swiss owner BADLY refinished (shellac runs along the sides, some parts he forgot to shellac, rounded corners from where he was sanding, and the metal is quite proud in relation to the wood which is totally wrong for any military rifle), BUT it does have a good sling from 1916...
Definitely my first and certainly last purchase from that fucking kike
I suppose I should count myself lucky, I've bought 2 Mosins from Ben (one 91/30 many moons ago and one M39 in the last year) and both of them are fine.
>>34553944
I'm serious, I pulled apart the stock to see if there were shims or cosmoline and it's packed and gritty. Not sure if it saw action or what but its bad.
>>34553942
I kinda want to toss a bid in. I could technically afford it, though it would mean maxing my cc...
>>34554270
I thought he sells shitty old and used guns that are "Blacksmith Special" so that YOU have to fix them up yourself? Or am I getting the gist of his business wrong?
>>34554293
No, he occasionally puts up shitty gunsmith specials, but mostly he sells regular 'surp.
Used to have a lot in stock, but everything is drying up now.
>>34554306
>but everything is drying up now.
This. Browsing for surplus online for entertainment used to be fun, now it's just frantic and simultaneously very depressing.
>>34554270
Who knows what ungodly things the Finns did with them. I'm not any bit surprised its like that coming from Sweaty Ben.
>>34554322
Yeah, there's very few places that have things IN STOCK, it's mostly one-offs and small batches.
I'm still kicking myself for not buying more earlier. If I could talk to myself 10 years ago the biggest advice I'd give is "Invest in 'surp"
>>34536995
just put some rounds through my new enfield no1 mk3*. couldnt even hit the paper at 100 yds. felt like I was shooting blanks. I'm looking for a new barrel. will the barrel from a regular no1 mk3 (not mk3*) fit?
>>34554389
Yes but why would you take one off a more valuable rifle?
>>34554451
if someone is selling a mk3 barrel, I assume they're not yanking it off a perfectly good rifle. Either way, its none of my doing. I just don't want to be stuck with a rifle that would be better of shooting blanks.
>>34554389
>>34554476
Cost wise, you're better off buying another rifle that can actually shoot...unless you're seriously personally invested in that rifle.
My Yugo K98k for example, is one I want to re barrel to 7.62 some day, even though it'd be far from cost effective.

>>34554746
K31. Mausers aren't particularly accurate.

>>34554847
I can't speak for Swedes. I've only shot one once. But my Germans Mausers, my Yugo Mauser, and my Peruvian Mauser are pretty run of the mill in terms of accuracy, I.E. 2-4 MOA. My K31 is a 1.5-2.5 rifle (as is my Lebel).
>>34554838
Never said they were inaccurate chief.
>>34554746
My k31 shoots far more accurate than my RC K98.
>>34554842
Hrs right though. Both my M39s, my K31, and my Mas36 are more accurate than any Mauser I've owned.

>Mausers aren't particularly accurate.
That's rather true though. When one says they aren't /particularly/ accurate, it just means they aren't really much better or worse than most anything else.
Mausers are great, yes, but there's so much hype surrounding them not just because of "muh German engineering", but also how prolific they are. Mausers didn't take the world by storm because they were superior, Mausers took over because of VERY aggressive salesmanship on the part of Mauser and DWM.
