I've been seeing 870 police magnum trade-ins on sale for sub $250 lately, you should go for one of those instead.

I've got the exact same gun. I like it a lot and beat the living piss out of it. 870s are fine but you should replace the extractor with a non MIM one, which is fairly cheap. Also get another magazine follower.

All in all its a great gun and even if you don't change out those two parts, you'll still have great success with it doing whatever it is that you do.

Remington's quality has gone down in recent years. Get a old, used one.

Since Freedom Group took over Remington, the quality has been shit.

The 870's have a letter in the serial number, A through P or Q by now I think-- get an 870 with an A through L in the serial, and you'll get a good one.

Might as well ask it here: Looking for a new pump shotgun, what do I get? I'd like for it to have a good selection of aftermarket parts, but as long as it's durable, well made, and is good for longevity I'm fine with it. No higher than $1000 preferred.
