They don't camouflage with anything, in fact they stand out. I imagine they get hot as hell too. So why are they worn?
>>
>>34535846

Probably to differentiate police units from actual military.

When has a LEO Entry Team ever required camoflage and concealment?

It looks scarier than camouflage. I learned that from a video game.

>>34537926
The only real complaint here should be all the unnecessary accessories. I assume that if they're from a small community they might have to act in a SWAT capacity once every 2 years when a local meth-head holes himself up somewhere, so a sbr for easy maneuverability in a building and a suppressor to protect their hearing seems fine. Most of them probably barely shoot their guns, and while an optic shouldn't be treated as a crutch, it can still help the ones who really suck. A plate carrier that can at least stop most pistol rounds is fine.

I really don't understand what they could possibly be carrying in all those bags and pouches though. They aren't going to be in an extended firefight, so most of that seems useless. I feel like all they'd need is a couple mags, handcuffs, communications equipment and maybe one guy with some first aid stuff.

>>34538217
Ours had an MRAP, but they gave it to a department 2 counties over when they realized how expensive it was to maintain.

>>
>>34537926
Compensation for rights restrictions. Used to be the cops of the 50s could do everything they could now with less, but with all these shitty RoE the police need the extra firepower and protection to do their jobs because they're no longer allowed to work off of initiative. As far back as the 90s the cops had the means to take out a literal tank if they needed to because that's the sort of crime that happens in America.
>>
>>34538781
How's that boot taste? Is it delicious?
>>
>>34539445
so police shouldn't have good equipment?
>>
>>34539573
I can't speak for other countries, but violent crime has been going down since the 90s and is currently at a 40+ year low. At the same time, 'justifiable' homicides, at least with the limited reporting on that data, have been steadily increasing since 2001.

There have been numerous infringements on personal liberty since 9/11. This one is subtle but quite possibly the most dangerous. The police should have good equipment, sure, but good equipment in this case should be a reliable handgun, high quality plates, and maybe an AR-15 in the trunk for crazy and unusual circumstances. The data tells us anything more than that is unnecessary at best, deadly at worst.

yeah, but its hard to protect and serve when you look unaproachable to the average civilian. swat can wear all the black they want, but your average beat cop needs to ditch the black and navy in favor of traditional light blue and drop the AR15 SBRs already, especially as all the military equipment just encourages those that are poorly trained to get trigger happy

Baltimore shooting that happened recently - the one with a white fucker dual-wielding extended mag hi-points? The first responders on scene were armed with service pistols, and one guy had a four-round twelve gauge and no additional ammunition for it. An officer was hit because they were incorrectly trained and ill equipped to deal with the threat, and because the officer in question was an incompetent female.

The militarization of law enforcement's ESU teams allows them to close the gap and make things better.
>>
>>34535846
Professional looking and intimidating.
>>
>>34540677
Well its because there are people in the government that actually try to regulate the spending of tax dollars by cutting excess from departments in the name of efficiency

Of course this just turns into a money spending contest among other departments to see who can secure their funding the best and just turns into a shitstorm of "OH WE WENT OVER OUR BUDGET BEING RETARDS PLS GIVE MONEY" and they can't say no because if government workers don't get their money it will be a huge shit storm.

Ironically the people trying to budget the government just make shit worse because they have no real way to discourage departments from doing this slimy garbage.
>>
>>34540677

you know, i saw that video, and there was NOTHING that military gear could do in that situation that their gear couldn't do jsut as well or better. the shooter was a retard wearing flipflops pointing his guns in oposite directions, standing in the doorway of a bus. So tell me one single thing they could have done better with their shitty training with an AR15 SBR that a 12 gauge couldn't do. also military gear or not would not have made a difference when your shot in the shin.
>>
>>34540691
well a lot of it too is cheap army hand me downs. i know from working in a certain civilian 'paramilitary' organization/service that costs are 80% of the driving force in a decision. Why spend money on MP5s and better training when you can get a cheap used ar15 or even mrap from the army. and if you have a solution to the budgeting problem you described, I'm all ears

GG no re
>>
>>34540648
That's right, nothing worng with cops getting a bit more firepower, given the current state of the US in certain areas. There's more than a few times nigs, beans, and crackers brought out some dakka. Not saying it can br overdone, but it's nice to have assets. Maybe could use a bit more training to justify the possession of such.
>>
>>34535889
How about an LEO that operates in outdoor environments like a game warden
>>
>>34540780
yeah, but the AR15s or rifles is a bit of a stretch. there is virtually zero need for police to need to shoot past 75 yards in any real circumstance with the exception of police snipers, which is why all those AR15s are just ridiculous and gives way to many retards the impression that they are 'warrior' cops and not PEACE officers
>>
These always devolve into the libertarian/sovereign citizen circle jerk. No one ever gives a reasonable response as to why law enforcement can't own/utilize the same shit these very people bitching about "militarized police" have in their own house. Why do people need optics, rails, plate carriers, camo. Well, why do YOU? Unlike your larping ass they actually do shit.

Because I don't have the right to no knock someone's house or shoot the just for feeling threatened and get away with it. Shooting people is like 1% of what cops do unless you watch too much TV, but when you take these people who are supposed to protect and serve, and then arm them as if they were going to war, it not only makes theme start to act as if their citizens are 'the enemy', but also makes them unapproachable to the citizenry as well, further the divide between the state and the people (in addition, it is not the 100% best or optimized equipment for their job in the first place)

>>
>>34540793
Except there's a problem with that logic. Not every baddie is a soft target, not every engagement is gonna be at 75 yards, not every engagement can be solved with a pistol or shotgun.

The US isn't just cities full of passive merry-go people. State troopers have been engaged at ranges well past 100 meters, and police have encountered people equipped with full powered rifles/semi autos in situations where snipers can't be called in quickly. Gang bangers and radicals can get guns and armor too.

Your logic right there actually the reason quite a few cops have died in the past.
>>

I say this because even the police still just cite the one.

Protip they wont cite the other ones because first one was negroe terrorists and we cant militarize the police because ten blacks in body armor shoot a half dozen cops with m16s it has to be two whites. Double protip: it even happened 10 years before the hollywood shootout. The third was the shooter at the premier of dark knight rises who wore a full ballistic suit, but the police weren't trying to outline their failures or scare anyone.

I see both sides of the argument.

But the deal is, while there have been some nasty no knock raid incidents where the wrong house and so on were hit, the idea that we'd never have policing mistakes if the cops never got gucci'd up is fantasy thinking.

Most deadly encounters simply involve regular old approachable beat cops and something has gone wrong-- either the cop is scared or the suspect really is violent.

For all the talk about militarized police, they really aren't the source of the problem.
>>
>>34537926
>The militarization of police needs to stop
This is 99% a meme. Just because a cops has mag pouches on his vest doesn't mean he's "militarized." The same goes when they are wearing riot gear during a riot. Do you really think the cops during the Furgeson riots should have been wearing ties and Corfams? While I do think SWAT teams need to calm down with the camo, they serve a very specific purpose and aren't out writing tickets and doing DUI stops in their armored vehicles. Stop believing every left wing meme that you read.

Go active duty. NG time doesn't count for hiring purposes unless you've deployed. Do your active time and get out. It will benefit you in more ways than joining the Guard will. If you still want to join the Guard afterwards, that's fine and you can work towards a second retirement.

When you go to 20 fucking meetings within a month and listen to civilians bitch about how "police look too scary I'm scared of letting my kids near you" and "my poor tayshawn was just defending himself" it becomes part of standard procedure to be more nonthreatening even when tayshawn is trying to stab your partner with a screwdriver.
