Thinking of purchasing a M-56
>>
I don't have a collection, but I got a a dirt cheap M56.
One of the few advantages of living in Germany.
>>
>>34531655

Sweet what year was it produced?
>>
>>34531659
I really don't know, but I guess it's rather in the 70-85 range.
>>
>>34531633
nice penis helmet you have there
>>
Got a handful of helmets.
Most of them are kevlar; 3 PASGTs, one MK6, some M1-style steel pot with plastic innards, a British riot helmet, and a tiny-ass stahlhelm that's no good for me.

>>
>>34531633
i wouldn't call it a collection but i've got 5 or 10

a few more buying options you may not have looked at, oh and i have one of those, it seems to ride really high with the plastic/leather suspension it came with.

You will be intensely unhappy with a East German helmet. While it has some historical reference it was never in real combat and worse, you will feel positively naked wearing one. For sure the shape is scientifically fairly sound for protection from stuff coming from above, but the side protection is just a polite joke.

I sold mine and the complete uniform with kit fast enough and never regretted it.

I understand what you mean, but quickly selling off a NVA kit makes me really sad. Hopefully the new owner will be able to give it more love

>>34533211
if you expect to get shot in the ear a pasgt is really the way to go

Yes I do. The first helmet is an Adiran type made locally by the rebels in the 1932 Constitutionalist Revolution, and the camo helmet is an american M1 from the Vietnam War.
Both were used in battle, thus explaining the scars on both.
>>
>>34533380
Adrian*. The rebels had 3 types of helmet. I intend to collect the others, and possibly a bayonet and a saber from the conflict aswell.

At least you got a packet of ciggarettes, but they need to be marlboro

I already have a room full of militaria. It's a long time since it was filled to the brim. Any collector has to specialise at some point, or drown or become bankrupt.

Some of my current helmets though:
- standard british tin lin
- Zuckerman helmet
- A couple of Adrians
- A handful of German helmets, nothing in particularly great shape but I have M35's, M40s, M42, a Gladiator.
- an M1
- a PASGT
- a complete Russian helicopter helmet
- a few other odds and ends

Stripe camo

I've got a late 70s M1, with the NATO woodland cover.
>>
>>34533509
Isn't ERDL appropriate for that time frame (or late war, anyways)
>>
>>34533509
The Helmet is from 1972. They used that cover in the last years of the War, from what I know.

M70 I bought off of amazon for $20, it was being sold as a 'hungarian war helmet' will no other description. Pretty cool even though it doesn't fit my fat head
Also have an m56 that fits. Actually wore it a couple weeks ago during a tornado scare, luckily didn't need it.
>>34533211

Glad I'm not the only one. Sucks its the only one I can find that fits, guess I'll have to shell out the cash for a triple x k pot if I want even a little bit of head protection.

Also note the cover you have is for a PASGT Helmet, M1 covers have one seam down the center and you are rocking a late 70's early 80's chinstrap. One more thing ERDL camo was more green during Vietnam
