PL-15 BVRAAM = 200+km
PL-10 ASR AAM = 30+km

The PL-15 is the missile that spooked the USAF general Carlisle, who was calling for an AIM-120 replacement to outstick it.

All Chinese tactical fighters will get this missile combo, from J-20 to "old" J-11B.

>More than twice the size of a fucking AMRAAM
>Relies on parabolic trajectory to get the range it does

How? How did they fuck up so bad? If it was at least as efficient as the antiquated AMRAAM it'd have nearly 400km range minimum.
>>
>>34530868
They have that too. That huge PL-X anti AWACS stuff.

Your missiles mean nothing if you can't see us first.
>>
>>34530921
I don't think you understand. If you're more than twice the size of a shitraam, you better be pumping out far more than twice its performance. The fact that they need a giant AShM sized missile for anti-AWACS duty speaks volumes as to the state of their rocket miniaturization and chemical engineering, or lack thereof.
>>
>>34530990
What about 200+ do you not understand?

The + means, it can be anywhere above 200km, which is it's minimum max range.

Chinese paper actually talk about 300+, but whatever.
>>
>>34530984
>has the IR signature of a christmas tree
>>
>>34531022
What about not 400+km do you not understand?

If your bar is set at a substantially smaller missile having 160km minimum, then your missile that can be carried one to a rail and would obviously have far more mass and drag to the airframe sure as fuck better have more than twice the performance of the smaller munition you're trying to outgun. What is so difficult about this?
>>
>>34531026
Aren't Christmas trees usually at ambient levels of ir emission?
>>
>>34531043
Not substantially smaller.

PL-15 is 200mm vs 180mm of the AIM-120D. Length is about the same.

>>34530984

>It was first rumored in 2011 that 607 Institute was developing the next generation of active radar homing LRAAM dubbed PL-15 which is comparable to American AIM-120D. The missile was later identified as a PL-12 variant (PL-15?) which might have evolved from the earlier PL-12C design. PL-12G features redesigned stabilizing fins and tail control fins with smaller wingspans in order to fit into the internal weapon bay of J-20. The missile also has a new a dual pulse rocket motor which extends its range to 200km. Its two-way datalink and a new active/passive dual mode AESA seeker onboard will give it an excellent ECCM capability against severe jamming. A PL-15 prototype was first seen underneath the wing of a J-11B in 2012. In 2013 PL-15 was first seen inside J-20's main internal weapon bay during its weapon integration tests. It was reported by US intelligence that PL-12G was successfully test-fired in 2015. The latest image (November 2016) suggested that PL-15G can also be carried by the J-10B/C series.

>>34531083

>Mocks F-35 for being "fat"
>Doesn't realise a major reason for the F-35A's proportions is to carry a huge internal fuel load while also carrying large weapons internally for minimal drag.
>Carries nearly as much internal fuel as a J-11, while being a lighter single engine aircraft flying clean.
>>
Not that the PL-15 isn't dangerous, provided it does actually have that range which I don't necessarily doubt but it's quite ignorant to think the US isn't working on their own missile. It's not like they don't know that missiles are a "weakpoint" at this moment in time.

Basically, China has two long range missiles in service:

PL-15, which is their AMRAAM-D equivalent, only better.

And

PL-XX VLRAAM, which is basically their AIM-54 on steroids, built like an air launched SAM missile.

One is for attacking fighters, the other against support crafts and bombers.

MBDA Meteor beats chinkshit missile hands down.
>>
>>34532343
How do you know that? The official MBDA Meteor data sheet does not include any numbers regarding range.

Yet you post...non official numbers for PLA missles.

You can't have it both ways...
>>
>>34533249
I didn't post anything? Why would someone "compare" two missiles with another even though neither seems to have official range/data available but claim that one of them is superior?
>>
>>34533301
Round two for irony.
>>
>>34530868
DESU so does amraam. A rocket engine will burn for a short while, after that, the rocket is completely ballistic. That is why Meteor is a gamechanger.
>>
>>34533337
Why do you fucking post when you have absolutely nothing to say outside of pissing people of because they waste time responding to someone who has no interest in the topic at hand?
I don't know where>>34530752 got his numbers from. It's not relevant to my argument either since I only asked how the Meteor is superior to "chinkshit missile" when the Meteor doesn't have any official numbers in it's official data sheet? If there are no numbers for the Meteor AND PL-15 how can anyone claim that either one is superior? Answer this question or just stop replying in the first place, it would improve this board.
>>
>>34533400
Not him, but the meteor isn't garbage chinkshit for one.
>>
>>34533433
What a great argument, I'm glad the people that work on missiles here in the West don't actually pass off any possible threat as "Well it'll be fine since it's just garbage chinkshit"

I'm glad they don't pass off anything written on a Pakistani Ice Skating and Ballet image board as being anything close to reality.

But seriously, you pull this shit every single time you get BTFO, chicom. You go "LOOK AT THIS INCREDIBLE THING CHINA GROWS RAGER!!! Wait, stop it, stop comparing what I said to things I compared them to! Hey, stop! STOP! Oh man, I'm actually from the west, we shouldn't discount this just because its chinese and we have no information on it other than bullshit from chinktwitter - our leaders sure take it seriously!!" Every Fucking Time.
>>
>>34533547
Alright whatever man, I'm German not Chinese but you are free to believe what you want.
If you have the numbers regarding the range of the Meteor please do tell. I don't know them and I don't the range of the PL-15. If you do we can consider whether or not one is superior but screaming "beats chinkshit missile hands down." is ignorant as hell without any information but like I said, whatever helps you sleep at night.

>PL15 Being good.

Why are there so many chicom shills recently? And why are they here?

You realize that anyone who knows even a sliver of information about the PLAAF or the PRC in general knows about the tech gap and missile unreliability the PLAAF has to deal with.

Attempts at anti tanker and anti AWACS for the sake of area denial can't be used effectively against the US or its allies in the region, and both the USAF and PLAAF know this. They know that these development programs aside from catering to a propagandist narrative they also serve as a possible way to counter Vietnam and India in a regional conflict.

I don't know why you're here stating that any PLAAF BVR missile is more effective than an AMRAAM, but consider yourself technologically and militarily illiterate from now on.

I don't give a shit about the meteor. The fact remains that your routine is stale. Get a new one or else you won't get any rice rations.
