So I bought this Stahlhelm for 70$. I noticed it has the same paint pattern from the Normandy landings. Are you able to tell if it is original or not?
I have that same towel.
upgrade the webbing and strap with a foam and strap kit intended for a PASGT

but is it original?

probably a replica

"If it looks like it's brand new, it is"
Best scenario (that is probable) is that it's an original shell refurbished with a new liner and paintjob.

Spanish copy, the German suspension set up was completely different, probably painted up by a reenactor

Hello. I'm the guy who bought it. By the suspension you mean the lining, right? I was curious why it was so different from any I'd seen before. So, it is definitely a Spanish one? As in from WW2 still? Maybe from the Spanish civil war?
Look at the bras locks that holds the inner material its is 3 or 4 pcs . It should be stamped with year. My is stamped with 1939.

Spanish Helmet. Shell might be "wartime" (spanish on sent volunteers) but liner looks postwar.

I don't see any markings on the brass that holds the leather in, but the canvas straps themselves have brass snaps on them, and they say "cumere"
Mine doesn't have as many grommets as this one, and it has more pronounced vents, and doesn't have the little mount on the front. However, it does have the same lining. What does that mean?

Probably have a Spanish M42/79 with the badge bracket removed so it could "pass" as German.
