I watched the first episode and put it on hold to watch other stuff. There aren't many animes that have guns as a main focal point and are also good.

I know of stuff like Black Lagoon and Gun Smith Cats. Watched a bit of the former and never seen the latter.

It's a matter of answering "How much action movie bullshit can I take?", "How much moe girl bullshit can I take?", and "How much bad gun info can I take?", then weighing it against the amount of actual gun action.
The amount of good gun-anime is dependent entirely on how you define "good gun-anime".

That said, there's plenty of decent stuff.
Cannan is basically a textbook action movie and quite solid. Kino no Tabi isn't about guns or war per se, but looks at them amazingly well. Cat Shit One is just solid gold if you don't mind the character models (and 3d).

How Viable is an educational program similar to Girls und Panzer?

Zankyou no Terror. Not all gun related - but that first episode is absolutley fantastic. When gunplay is featured it is kinetic and suspenseful and all the guns are real and well drawn even if guards tend to have stormtrooper syndrome.

Only saw the first episode so far, but it appears to be about a lady, her guns, her bewbs, and her pet loli. Also it correctly portrays the ATF as a bunch of subhumans.

Couldn't stand the nogunz tier misinformation in Upotte, dropped immediately. GITS SAC and the original GITS from 1995 are both good suggestions. Only read some of the Gunsmith Cats manga, but it's definitely /k/ stuff. Half of the time a gun is shown in GCats they fanboy over it.

Gunsmith Cats is an anime/manga in which a Japanese man creates a quintessential depiction of american gun culture complete with correctly predicting quite a few political gun scandals. Minus the recent molon labe stuff.

Youjo Senki is better than a lot of other stuff. It avoids a lot of the usual anime bullshit about having 20 hour conversations with your enemy and winning because of the hero's spirit creating infinite plot armor and going on that journey of always getting stronger and more op.

It's animated, but it easily could be live action with good special effects helping out in a couple places.
