Just went yesterday to try out my new mini 14. It functions fine, but I can't deal well the smoke from .223 or 5.56. The recoil force is fine, the smoke is just annoying to look at and smell.

Also at what range should I zero my mini 14?

It's 91 degrees out right now and I just had a client meeting over the phone with my feet in the pool. The range will be there Friday don't worry.

I'd go to an indoor range if there were any decent 50 yard ones that weren't cost prohibitive. All the affordable places are 25 and are full of people that can't even get on paper.

and the ONE range that was both close by and let 18 year olds shoot on their own has been closed down since last October because of a gas leak and explosion

one of my friends from highschool died yesterday.
it's the first time someone around me has died that wasn't from old age or age related health factors.
I hadn't seen him in a few years and I had planned on visiting him with a few buddies a month ago but ended up skipping that for some dumb shit instead.

I'm sitting bedside as my grandpa dies in the hospital. 82 and taught me to shoot when he was 72. Taught me to hunt at 73. Dedicated husband and fun owner. Going to take his old Mk3. Enfield to the wooded range we have morning like old times.

Remember to pass your knowledge down, you never know when it'll be the last time you visit the range.

I went a couple days ago with my mom and we put 200 rounds through my AR-7. She liked the experience and said the recoil wasn't as bad as she thought it'd be.

Generally you want to zero at the furthest point blank distance. This generally ends up being around 100yds for most rifles. 100 yds is a good distance
