Hello /k/!
Anon Noguns from Germany here and I have a question for you.
Does anyone remember the Magpull PDR?
What happend to it? Why did it die?
I mean a compact bullpup, capable of firing 5.56 from STANAG mags seemed like a really neat concept.
And everybody likes small guns that punch above their weight.

Why did it go away?
>>
>>34520754
Magpul only ever designed the thing. No one got a contract with them to actually make the gun, so it never got made. Probably had some issues that the public never got wind of or it was just a result of the Masada design flopping commercially and with the military.

Which is all a shame, because conceptually it's interesting. Though, I suppose the fact no one made the thing might be indicative of the quality of the design to begin with.

I allways wondered how short you could built a housing that can contain
magazine well
main springs
bolt assembly
>>
No one picked it up. Just get an RDB, 5.56 performs better from a 17" barrel anyway.
>>
>>34521666
No, Satan. I will not listen to you.
>>
>>34521837
Well done, anon. Listen not to the devil, for he speaks poison with two tongues.
>>
Speaking of witch, I want a P90 redesigned to look more like PDR.
>>
>>34520754
>Why did it go away?
Magpul realized that their bottom line would dropped if they moved beyond branded injection molding.
>>
>>34522644
But that would defy the the whole point of the P90's design - having a large magazine on top of the gun.

>look how close the mag well is to the buttstock
Yeah, maybe they had problems with making it work...
>>
>>34522644
I just want an actual P90 instead of a 16" PS90 without having to pay for stamps.
>>
>>34524207
>yfw not every gun has it's main spring behind the bolt you fucking summerfag.
>>
>>34524207
I imagine it had a forward opspring like the para ord ttr. Or a lender or ar18
>>
>>34524207

when is summer over?
>>
>>34520754

>compact bullpup

You might as well use an SMG.

Not even with a telescoping bolt?
>>
I loved the design so much I got the airshit version just to finger fuck.
>>
>>34520754
GITS as fuck
>>
>>34530252
How does it feel and handle?
Obviously its not a perfect analogue but I'd still be curious.

no man the bolt doesn't need to be nearly that long. The reason most guns have a bolt that long is to fully cover the ejection port. Take a look at the Tavor bolt for example, those fins on it are just to cover the ejection port. But with the PDR's forward ejection the bolt can be shorter without any issue

Here's another example, the IMP-221 aka Bushmaster Arm Pistol. The bolt is so short that the hammer is shaped like a real hammer with the head jutting forward so that it can reach over the magazine. In this case the dust cover reciprocates with the piston + charging handle assembly so it can also be shorter. I haven't heard any issue about these guns either (aside having totally impractical ergonomics)

sounds cool. Got any other firearms to do a size comparison? If so post pics

Thats an interesting design. Where does it come from?

check Bushmaster Arm Pistol on youtube for some firing demos
>>
>>34533281
I can imagine that this design could be easily converted into something that fires 5.56, while still fitting comfortably into a briefcase.
>>
>>34520754
A 9mm version would sell well everywhere.

its not impossible
>>
>>34534963
eh, 9mm sub guns seem to be kind of taking a back seat to SBRs, back then 9mm sub guns were so popular because it was the only caliber that could really be put into a package that small, not the case now days. Why design the gun with a less versatile and powerful cartridge when you dont have to?
>>
>>34537341
Because that gun in 5.56 would sell well in the USA alone because of the caliber.
Make it in 9mm and still would be good for self defence and as a range toy in the usa, but in addition it would sell well everywhere in the world. Bigger market.

>>34532027
While cool looking and unique. This gun is a gimmick. For the average shooter it's more of a novelty then a force multiplier.
>>34520754
Being dumb enough to think this thing was real. Gun manufacturing has been about reinventing the wheel for the last 50 years.

They never even had a working prototype.
They just did it to promote buisness and shiet,

It's honestly really comfy. I wish it was real. Charging handle and mag release are easy to use and ambidextrous.

Will post pics in a second.

Here you are.

Also, I realize that I have the extended grip. The standard one is a bit too short for me. I'm also really fond of the circular P90 foregrip.

I think it looks overall better with a 20 round mag, but I can't find mine at the moment. Here's a pic of what it would look like.

Not sure how it would have worked on the actual PDR, but it looks like there's a switch to change the direction ejected shell. Simple as pressing a button on the side.

>>34540317
that's fucking coooooooool, thanks man
