Let's share pics of our cowboy guns and argue about if loading gates or tubes are better.
Pic related, my Interarms era Rossi m92 in .44magnum and the gunleather I just made for it.

Thinking about pickup up an 1873 lever action, 357 or 45 colt cant decide pls help
>>34517217
357 is cheaper and more available, and you can shoot 38 special.
>>34517414
Does Marlin have any .357 models with threaded barrels?
>>34517752
They don't have any current production 357's at all. The 1894c has not been reconstituted yet. Their CS told me they were starting production in last November but I'm guessing that wasn't the case.

This was posted on reddit a few days ago, you lying nigger.
I'm debating picking up a 45-70. How hard does 45-70 kick?
>>34516650
Sexy leather work anon
>>34517911
If you reload you can make loads as heavy or light as you want. And if you shoot 4570, you'll probably want to reload.
>>34517911
Factory loads, not much. Buffalo Bore loads, like catching a meteor in the shoulder.
>>34517217
45 colt can be hot loaded to be like lighter .454 rounds. if you reload get the .45 colt, if youre a poorfag, and a non reloader get .357. if you want to be able to take out damn near everything in NA innawoods, get .45colt

how poor of a choice is 30-30 levergat for prepping purposes? 336 is tempting

It works just fine. The ammo is kind of expensive for what it is, but to be honest its probably all the title most people would ever need. No, I'm not a fudd either.

Just get one. Make sure you QC the shit out of it before purchase since marlin no longer does that.
My little 1980s Marlin 336 in .30-30 with custom Levergunleather stock cover.
Love the fuck out of this rifle, and plan to hunt with it this year.
>>34518854
And/or get only pre-remshit.
>>34516650
ive got an m92 from puma. have you done anything to the action? i keep reading tgey can get pretty slick and mine is a bit of a pain, im just not sure if its worth the effort.
Any of yous get your hands on the Big Horn Armoury 500 model? I want to get one for innawoods funsies and to kill basically anything in this part of the world... thoughts?
On the verge of pulling the trigger on a Chiappa 1892 Trapper in 357 mag.
Tell me what to do familia
>>34516650
Stop attention whoring, chubby.
>>34521806
Get a Henry.
>>34522073
>tube loading
What is this, 1880?
>>34516655
Seems like you do some leather work. Why not use a hard plastic or leather head mallet?
>>34517911
Very light rifle and hot loads = a lot
Very heavy rifle and light loads = not much
They are very very loud.
>>34516650
Are Henry's 22LRs any good? I need a damn 22
>>34518412
For a main character, sure, for you no.
Three reasons;
>Ammo
>Maintenance
>Action
Any levergun that isn't in .357 will have SIGNIFICANT ammo issues post SHTF, unless you stock thousands of rounds which still won't help on the next two issues.
Keeping a levergat clean is a total bitch, and disassembly is usually a massive pain in the ass, with spare parts being pretty much none existent outside of factories.
The actions on leverguneroos are also complicated as fuck and get filled with dirt easily and with debilitating results. Cleaning in the field would be hard as fuck and really suck if you accidentally dropped it in a puddle or other ground-related hazard. Not to mention MUH PRONE.
So if you want to be serious and live instead of LARP during the apocalypse, but an AR and be done with it. Guns are tools first and toys second.
Buy it anyways tho.
>>34522134
Because a rubber mallet is more than fine for using punches. If I do any tooling I turned my own maul on my lathe.

Want a time stamp or mushroom stamp?
I'm pretty set on getting a Rossi in 44 or a Marlin 1894 in 44.
I was wondering if anybody could tell me about the build quality differences between the two, especially the marlin which I've read had questionable quality control for a while when the company was sold off.
How do these compare to more expensive levergats like a Chiappa or even a big horn armory? The 1892 Alaskan looks really sexy but I don't know if the price hike is justified.
I have one in .22 can I join
>>34522602
i love mine. accurate, cycles great, carries well, and is just an all around awesome little squirrel rifle.
