Australian army

They made their Lee-Enfield bandoliers from fucking kangaroo leather

British webbing during WWII was ugly as fuck. In fact, the entire British uniform was ugly as fuck.

As for webbing, I like the US pattern or as another anon said, German Y straps and belt.

Not WWII, but South African Pattern 70 has similar aesthetics, and really thick canvas. pretty comfy to wear too. Descended from WWII British webbing.

The US pattern webbing looks okay, but fuck the M1928 and M1910 haversacks. They were complete and utter pieces of shit.
>>
>>34521928

I have an M1928, can confirm.
>>
The WWII US Paratrooper set up was probably the best of any webbing design. The suspenders and detachable musette bag were a good size for a daily combat load

The Marines 782 pack had some good ideas, but when placed into practice was kinda a weird setup that could either be comfy or cumbersome depending on what parts of the system you were using

German y straps arent the best because the single attachment point shifts and doesnt support the weight evenly

P31 webbing had too many parts
>>
>>34522179
Well the Marines pack cannot be bad because the army basically adopted it with the m1944 m1945 system.

Also yeah the 36 musette looks good but compared to the m1945 it's utter impractical shit. I own both and the 45 has straps, eyelets and all kinds of practical stuff whereas the musette needed shoestrings to fix a fucking blanket

Undoubtedly, but i was talking more about the main issued gear. the 44/45 packs didnt really get to the field until something like February of 45. Shit was over by then.

No doubt the MC was on to something, the Army just made it better with the one piece suspenders, water proof lining and a better knapsack design as a ditty bag

I read that German straps had a habit of snapping though, have you or anyone else heard of this aswell?

I Love Pattern 37 webbing this my set of Canadian Bren Light Gunner
>>

I've never heard of this. Gear on German webbing had a way of sliding around or possibly unhooking accidentally, but I've never heard of snapping

The M36 with eyelets and blanket rolls added would be light years ahead of the M1928 haversack. I do think the USMC 782 gear was by far the best though as you had a large bag and small bag for marching and combat loads. The knapsack had an eyelet attachment on the front for your shovel so you needn't worry about being hit in the leg plus it had blanket straps for your bedroll and poncho not to mention a slot for your bayonet.
