Ask to see the frame/ slide rails I guess. Someone somewhere has an infographic on judging wear on sig rails.
>>
>>34516445
Check out the fit and bore. Then do it and buy another G43 after.
>>
>>34516674
is that an issue with them?
>>
>>34516689
It can be, but that's true of every pistol at some point. I think with sigs its a problem with the steel slide and alloy frame but I don't know all of the p220/226, etc. guns have that.

It's a Sig Sauer from back when the "Sig" brand meant more than just "rusts a lot" and "when will you fuckers bring over the SG550 rrreeeeeeeeeeeee", and it is "West Germany" marked.
Why are you still here? Do it you dumb fag.

I got my 225/p6 for 400 bucks about 7 years ago. I don't think they've gone down in price, so get it, and then buy another G43.

it's more of a historical piece, the trigger is heavy and the mags are expensive, but they are high quality Sigs, built well and shoot well. They're very neat guns and they won't depreciate.

The heavy trigger is the biggest downside. I have an old 226 which blows it away but I still love it.

I bought my sig p6 from a guy when I was living in Georgia in 2015 for $425

NOW, it is a duty pistol, so the double action trigger is heavy, like a duty trigger SHOULD be

the single action, isn't the best, but its still good.

you can invest a few bucks and get a pack of trigger springs for the p6 and TEST THEM, to see what works best for you. Also, a lot of people swap the stock grips for a set of pachymer grips to make it a better feel.
>>
>>34516863
would you say the single action is lighter/better then a typical glock trigger?
>>
>>34516921
I'd say the trigger pull isn't lighter, It's a duty pistol,
BUT with that said, the trigger pull is consistant and deliberate.
>>
>>34516863
What kind of job do you do to make it a duty pistol?
>>
>>34516815
Rusts a lot? have you ever actually owned one because I have brought my Sig into multiple drains went swimming with it on me and have never had any issue with rust not once. I'm all for shitposting but try and make it accurate.
>>
>>34517003
the Sig p6 was the police issue pistol in germany and in some other states of europe, hence its a duty pistol
>>
>>34517003
it was a police pistol. while a regular Sig 226 has a 4lb SA trigger and a 9lb DA trigger this is more like 7 and 12. roughly.

>>34516921
it's probably heavier, but crisper than an OEM glock trigger.
>>
>>34517038
idk what it is about glock triggers but i cant fucking use them without throwing the barrel. i can shoot my vp9, 1911, and .38 revolver like a dream. but my glocks, im shit with.
>>
>>34516840
>>34517022
On some real shit though, don't pass it up. A tiny glock to a West German-marked P6 is a trade a lot of guys dream about. No memes will ever change that.

thank you, waiting on the old guy to give me an update on when we are meeting. il post pics once(or if i get it)

>trading a great carry gun for a surplus cop gun with crap trigger and might not feed hollar-points

nigger really?
>>
Basically a surplus German police pistol equivalent to a Sig P225. Steel single stack 9mm of that generation. A bunch of them came in as surplus ten years ago for about $300...haven't priced one lately but you probably won't find one that cheap today. Probably a decent trade if you just want one. The G43 is better for carry but you can always buy another one of those for about the value of a P6.

I bought mine in 2006 when used P6's were plentiful. I think I paid $325. Now they're more scarce, thus costing more. I had a choice of a surplus leather belt holster or a shoulder holster when I bought mine. I chose the shoulder holster, but later I bought the surplus leather belt holster for it also.

This is the only pic I have of mine, in the lower right-hand corner.

If the mainspring is too heavy for you, hit up Wolff. The p225/p6 will accept an SRT kit as well which is the holy grail of sig mods.

This might be the best trade you ever make in your life.

pic related
>mine

all I did was put in a lighter mainspring and it's a 10/10 dream pistol
>>
>>34517162
Exactly. I for one never understood the hatred most of the /k/ommandos seems to have for Sig
>>
>>34516445
I've got a '79 p6, west german, the thing has been beat to hell in back , still works fine. I bought it 2 years ago and have put around 4000 rds through it, no real issues mechanically.

Finish is starting to wear badly and its got "sig rust" in some spots, but that's mostly from my abusing it.

I've also had a p225 and enjoyed that pistol for a good while.

I paid 350 for my p6 from a buddy, I think average they float around 400$ iirc.
>>
>>34517290
Thanks for the info. If he ends up taking the trade il post pics and give an update

I bought one in 2010 for $350 from J&G. They're worth more like $450 now in really nice shape. Just because of their status as police trade-in guns they'll never be as valuable as commercial Sigs.

It's the same inside as any P22x Sig except for three things:

1. The hammer has that weird notch in it. That was so the German armorer could tell if the officer dropped his gun hard enough to damage the sear.

2. Most of them don't reliably feed hollowpoints. You can get the feed ramp machined with the later angle if you need to.

3. The hammer spring is STRONG. You can swap out for a standard P225 spring to bring it back to normal Sig specs if you want.

Also, mags are expensive and some parts are discontinued. But they're great shooting guns and really comfy to hold. OP, if those wood grips are any good they're worth about $100 by themselves. They're aftermarket--Sig never made them.
>>
>>34520258
Awesome. Was wondering what that weird hook was on the hammer. And yeah he has the original grips plus 3 mags to go with it. He's sending me pictures of the slide and frame today. If this thread hasn't 404d il post
>>
>>34520389

Mags are $30-40 each. When these guns were selling cheap the mags were going the other way and well over $50.

If you do get it, go to Top Gun Supply and get the spring service kit as well as any other spare parts you want while they're still cheap.
>>
>>34516445
Wicked nice guns. I have a 1980 w. german p6 that I CC in spring and fall. Doesn't love hollow points, but likes the Ruger ARX or any other high V low M rounds.
>>
>>34520458
Yeah he's got 3 mags, the original grips and a kydex hokster to go with it(probably won't use, don't want to fuck up the finish). I've heard about the trigger jobs and springs il have to take a look if he accepts the trade
>>

See if he'll send pics of the slide rails.

That is the make or break thing with used alloy frame sigs. A lot of guys (looking at you Bruce Gray) overblow the wear thing, but if they have chatters in them, stay away. Worn through anodizing is normal.

On the frame.

See if he'll do the underside of the rails as well. Wear on the tops, and the inside is normal, if its on the underside of the rail you have a slide burr, and on these old carbon steel guns its a serious problem.

Wear is generally self limiting on these guns.

I did the tungsten myself, its cerakote.

The Black was a NIB P225 I found for a steal, and the Nickel is one of the rare factory nickel sigs from the mid 90's.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question, it was like $45 bucks I believe to get the cerakote kit.

I CC'd mine for a couple years when I was still a poorfag.

A quick chamber polish and it fed hollowpoints fine.

what sights do you have on that p6 on the right? and any advice on changing them myself? heard you can bend the frames because they are stamped

They are Trijicon's, I don't recall the model number offhand.
You can swap them yourself, though I used a factory pusher tool I borrowed from a friend.

uh.... what? what the fuck are mud rails?
>>
>>34526842
Shouldn't be an issue.

I'm the P225/P6 anon from above.

Do you know what year it was produced?
>>
>>34526842
In fact now that I think about it, I'm fairly positive P6's were never produced with mud rails. I believe that is a P226 (and maybe P228) only issue.
>>
>>34527043
>>34527059
Its stamped 8/82 . Maybe he's mistaken?
>>
>>34527018
Mud rails are indents cut into the rails to help clear debris. It was experimental from Sig. They discontinued it because it caused frames to crack
>>
>>34527145
definitely mistaken. Mine is a 12/80.
