I actually like the idea of an 8 shot better than a 7 shot. Not because of its extra ammo but rather because it appeals to my OCD desire for even amounts of rounds in my guns.

Lucky 7 shots is the way to go bruv. 357 mag will stop most people and animals in one shot, maybe 2 or 3 if they're on drugs or really fat. That extra round could be a live saver though if you miss. 8 shot revolvers are also a thing. I like my SW 686 and wish I was a big guy (UUUU) so I could CC it.

It's cool, but it seems like they're trying to make up for being done by autos. I hate to say it but automatics are outclassing revolvers in almost every way other than reliable big guns like 44mag or 500 s&w. Like glock makes 15 round flush mags for 10mm, essentially a bigger 357. That being said, revolvers are still perfectly functional and in calibers lile 22 lr, much more reliable. If you like them, fucking buy it, they work great and if you invest in getting good the people who buy an automatic and don't practice pften will blow compared to you in every way except maybe misses per minute.

If you buy a larger than 6 revolver, make sure the cylinder isn't stupid big. Some look that way and it's ugly. Model 627 is good.

IIRC that new 8 shot Redhawk has a similarly sized cylinder to the standard so that it will fit those holsters. It was in the article that introduced it. I guess you can shave some material off when you make everything ridiculously overbuilt. It's definitely going to be substantially heavier loaded.

Revolvers are for range fun and MAYBE for defense on trails against big animals but that is a stretch

They are outclassed by semi autos in pretty much every way, sans keeping the brass from ejecting when you commit some murder, but that is for niggers

I would say speed loaders and mags are about equal in ease of reloading. And if you had to use the same mag more than once you will be killed because trying to load a mag under stress is beyond difficult
