Yes, it is. Only downsides are the awkward safety/mag release locations but that's mostly a personal thing.

92f was my first non .22 gun and I absolutely love it. I did a serial check and the thing is 32 years old but it looks brand new. super fun to shoot and is extremely reliable. I'd recommend it. I got mine used for 500 flat which I probably overpaid a bit looking back but it was marked 600 and the shape it's in makes me a little more ok with it

It's alright. The sights are pretty difficult to use though. It's also really thicc so if you have small lady-hands that could be an issue. It also weighs like 2 lbs, so trying to carry it could be problematic. I love mine though. Fits my hands perfectly and is real fun to shoot. Some people don't like the heel mag release, but I don't mind it too much. Pic related is the teeny sights.

I don't know why that keeps happening.

If you're looking at the 92S's at J&G for $279, you'd be better off adding $40 and getting the VG+. The mag release is at the bottom of the grip panel on this model, so be careful buying extra mags.

Home gun should have a rail for a light. I like the 92 but I can't recommend it for home defense
>>
There may be better options, but it all comes down to preference.

I bought a dozen of them or so and sold most. Kept two. Really like them. I've put 1k rounds through one. It is reliable and mag changes just arent that bad. It is a great choice if you like SA/DA with a safety. I enjoy the location of the safety decokcer.

Go for it. You can find mags all beit a little difficult. If nothing else, just buy regular 92 mags and cut a hole out at the heel modeled off the mag it comes with. All in all, good buy / choice.

Or, if you just want a functional gun and don't plan to shoot a lot (ammo is expensive if you dont have money) buy a 38 or 357 revolver. You can get a nice smith for 350 private sale.

If you love shooting, buy a 22 and get good.

Why not file the teeny rear sight larger? Use a micrometer to make sure the sight posts are the same size. Add some white paint dots.

Nice thread OP. I'm looking into one of these right now, cuz they're so cheap used and 9mm is ubiquitous. Buuuut I had a bad experience with an M9 in the Army and I'm really saving for a cowboy gun.
>>
>>34504203
Yes. I bought 3 in march. they are fine guns. clean the fuck out of them and lube the piss out of them before you shoot them. I didnt bother b/c lol its only $250, but had alot of failures to eject.

no problem now tho
>>

My favorite gun I own
>>
>>34504203
They were $250 closer to the start of fhe year. Grabbed two.

Factory serviced by Beretta. Barrels and springs look new/like new.
>>
>>34504802
I'd probably cash out of the stock market and buy 20 of them so I could sleep comfortably knowing that I have enough Brettas to last the rest of my life

Surplus? Surplus from where?

It's decent, I got one for $260 black friday deal a few years back. Weird mag release location but still, not a bad price for a Beretta 92. I would personally recommend a police trade-in Glock, you can get those for $300-350. Or a police trade-in Remington 870 for home defense if you don't need a handgun to carry.
