At the time, these guys shot at least 100 rounds of hot .357Mag a day for training. Including shooting squad mates with a small target on their bullet proof vest... Stress inoculation for hostage scenarios.

For the longest time, the GIGN point man would go in with only his revolver and would usually end the confrontation with a single disabling shot.
