Why can't anyone make a magazine holding more than 30 rounds that can actually feed reliably?

I've heard good things about the Steyr 42 round AUG mag
>>34498663
Because of springs and shit.

Guys what if we made an AR mag like a P90 mag
AK top loaders
Suomi M31 drum mag (more reliable than my stick)

Cartridge longer. Mag will be too wide.
Springs my gentleman of African descent.
On that note, however, I do wonder why constant-force coil springs (as seen in some SPIW magazines) haven't become more popular for extended capacity box magazines.

But honestly, I own one and it's overrated as fuck. I would rather just carry two 30 round mags in place of it.
Romanian 75rd AK drum mags. The AR's mag well doesn't play nicely with drums.
>>34499158
Tapered cartridge, so the magazine would be unsymmetrical and therefore extremely unaesthetic.

Can confirm.
Also have 40rd pmags for my ARs and 45rd molot ribs for my 5.45 AK that all work perfectly. If drums count I've got a Romanian 75 round rear loader that's been reliable so far, but I don't shoot with it often.

Austrian, actually
>>34498663
Magpul has stated that their 40 rounders are their best magazines as they have all the gen 3 geometry benefits but more constant spring pressure start to finish.
