Post your ammo
Just got my first box of ammo in the mail (500 of 7.62x39). Pretty happy desu
Is there any better feeling than picking up a nice, cool handful of ammunition?
Cleaned and organized my can yesterday.
>>34492572
Two handfuls.
paid 307.50 with tax and premium at an auction for an 880 case of 7.62x54r. i thought trump won the election. also got 700 rounds of chinese steel core 7.62x39 for $123, that wasn't so bad.
>>34492921
QT socks, /k/ommando.
Don't forget to pop in a couple tiny packets of desiccant (the kind you'd find packed with clothing) into your can to help keep ambient moisture at bay.
Just bought 500rds of 9mm for like $90 on sale.
>inb4 too much
new production brass
>>34493312
A lot of that surplus 7.62x54r came from Ukraine, I think. And a shitload of that surplus got blowed up in an accident a few months ago. I'm not sure it will ever get super cheap again.

>>34493536
there is so much in existence there will have to be more shipments, but light ball is pretty hard to find right now so i paid more than i think i should have. i remember paying $80 a can and it wasn't that long ago.
>>34493377
Thanks anon they're comf as fuck.
>Wal-Mart had 22lr 9 out of the last 10 times I went there
Feels great
>>34493689
;-; fuggin QT
Does /k/ buy different varieties of ammo when stocking up on one caliber, or just one reputable name brand?
I've been stockpiling 9mm in Federal hardball, Tulammo, and aluminum case.
I have more not pictured. Feels like I need more. Just three calibers, 9mm, 7.62x39 and 22lr. I have a 12 gauge maverick 88 and only have about 200 shells for that.
muh Golden Tiger
>>34499434
"Federal hardball" WTF is this shit? But seriously dude, don't stockpile tula or aluminium case ammo. Use that as your practice ammo if you want. I personally try to stockpile the good stuff like blazer brass and ppu 9mm. I shoot the blazer that comes with slightly dirty brass and save the clean stuff. The PPU is always very clean and consistent so I always stock that. With my aks I try to stockpile golden tiger and shoot and practice with mainly wolf (Barnaul aka Brown bear). I shoot mainly the polymer coated wolf and sometimes save the lacquer coated barnaul.

>having nearly 8000 rounds loose in ammo cans
for what purpose
>>34500670
So you can throw all that GT on your bed and roll around in it every now and again.
>>34492921
Is that it? You're fucking with us, right?
>>34500670
You can't ever have too much russian or surplus ammo. Imports and supply are never safe. And if you're like me, you like to have many years worth of normal shooting on hand just in case a panic happens. I don't even find time to shoot all that much past 12ga target loads on the skeet range and pellet guns. And it's divided between so many calibers too, so I'm set for a literal decade or better in most things.
>>34500617
is golden tiger any good? I mainly use monarch ammo sold from academy, i hear its really wolf ammo repackaged. It is plenty cheap and works fine. I have heard good things about GT though and am curious about it.
>>34502087
In 762x39, it's the only stuff I'll touch. It has the full size steel cored bullet jacket, and a big air space up front so it practically yaws like my 545. It's very fast to tumble. I've also seen it shoot better from my scoped gun when it came to accuracy.
I'm not that interested in their 545, it doesn't have the steel core bullet jacket shape and huge air space up front, so I have my doubts about it killing critters as well as I'd like.
>>34502003
My goal is to eventually have enough to make an actual bed out of ammo
>>34502083
I'm the same way. I wish I had gotten into guns sooner so my closet could look like that. Can you post that pic of all your rifles leaning against the ammo pls
>>34502137
GT 7.62 is GOAT. I like GT 5.45 because it's loaded hot as far as commercial ammo goes. It does yaw a few inches later than 7n6 does though. I have a bunch of Silver Bear that I use for plinking so the GT is getting put away for a rainy day
>>34502345
Yeah, I got into 10c/r 545x39 7n6 and sub 20c/r 54r etc, otherwise I wouldn't have so much if I'd started buying today. I wanted to get into ~6c/r 762 tok ammo too, but it disappeared from the market without warning just before I was going to pull the trigger on that.
I don't feel too motivated to have that much commercial ammo except for gt 762 though. I can mostly buy that whenever I want and it doesn't feel special. Crates and spam cans just get me fuzzy inside, don't know why.
>>34502087
not the guy youre talking to but for 7.62x39, i just buy whatever is cheapest. all the steel cased ammo performs well enough to be negligible.
pic somewhat related/unrelated
>>34502459
I'm definitely an ammo snob when it comes to 762x39, but for good reason when it comes to accuracy differences I've seen through optics.
I bought 500rds of bear ammo once, I had to just relegate that to mud busting ammo because it did so poorly that I couldn't confidently sight in my scope with it at all. Had that sucker sighted quickly with tiger.
I also shoot critters now and again, so I want something yaw-happy and GT fills that niche beautifully.
>>34492572
> is there a better feeling
No, it really is one of the best things to just have a mount of ammo to just look at and basically roll around in. I love just looking at my ammo stash. Feels good man. I could have 100k rounds and it wouldn't be enough
>>34503616
how often do you shoot?
>>34502415
>those cuck mags
sad!
>>34503639
Only way I can get it all in one pic, and I like having 10rders around.
>>34503630
Once a week. Not usually twice but sometimes I do. Why do you ask?
>>34493786
Same here senpai.
>>34500624
There's no reason for blazer to be as dirty as it usually is. Federal brass is cheaper where I'm at and much cleaner

It goes bang and hits stuff downrange. Nobody else is selling 308 for barely over 30c/r, or selling 54r for as cheap.
Hey guys, my ammo stash is growing to the point where I need it to last for years.
What desiccants/preservatives do you keep in your ammo cans? If the cans are airtight, can it be assumed that replacing the silica gel packs is unnecessary?
Thanks in advance.

Check this link out. It serves an alternative to long term storage and ammo cans

It will never be $2.00 per round in your life time. You realize there's new production out there for .70 a round, right?

if you're going to go that route because you like to stash your ammo in a lake or something, buy the materials at a ReStore or get them as contractor leftovers from craigslist
>>34512969
it might be over $2 a round due to inflation, but the real cost shouldn't go over .50 per round unless people stop producing ammunition.
>>34509057
>I own somewhere near 35,000 rounds of 54r
A pic would be nice, and make it more believable.
>don't even own a nugget
Neither did I for the longest time, but I'd been shooting 54r quite a while.
Instead of wasting time and money on accumulating tens of thousands of rounds, I'm just going to camp outside of prepper's houses with my .300WM if shit ever hits the fan
>>34513332
>implying you'd magically know about their stash unless you were already friends with them

Just use soda bottles
>>34513518

>>34513527
I meant what is your reason for ammo cans instead of the link provided. I'm not fond of throwing them in a lake but for storage? Who the hell is gonna think to steal pvc pipes?
>>34513603
I don't use ammo cans, I'm ghetto country. I use drink bottles
>>34510884

>>34513772
Lol as is actual soda bottles? How many can you fit and what caliber? I might use them too
>>34513794

is there any non-bimetal 7.62 that is not american made stuff? my local range doesent give a fuck but im curious where one finds cheap non bimetal 7.62 if it even exist OTHER than the yugo 7.62 surplus

It's like you people want your bullets to get stale.

have any of you run into any trouble from keeping your bakelites loaded 24/7?
I know some people who kept pmags loaded for years and their's would no longer drop free. Wondering if bakelites would suffer similar ill effects.
>>34514268
I can't say I've tried it but slav ak mags in general have some overkill as fuck springs in them. They're much beefier and longer than AR springs.
>>34514268
Nope, only thing I don't keep under tension is that AK drum
>>34514119
>1000x more effort than it's worth
Sure it's a little more work, but it keeps your powder nice and crisp.
> a complete pain in the ass to get into and use.
Nowhere near as much trouble as a spamcan.
I only have two p-mags worth
Would like to buy a big tin, PSA has 1000 rounds for 300 with free shipping, is that a decent deal?
>>34514243

WOO ammo thread
this is my mosin stock which I just refreshed today after a good range trip. Under all these surplus packs are a couple boxes of wolf and tula each, which I'm slowly building up after each trip
>>34513603
ammo can does the same thing for 5x less and no work, is lockable, stackable and has a handle. buying pre cut lengths for that project is a dead giveaway that that guy has more money than sense.

It's been 100% reliable with everything I have put through it. Bought it when I first turned 18, now I'm 25. It's got maybe 2500 fun ones down the pipe. This was also my first firearm purchase ever. Best $200 I ever spent.

Currently I'm with y'all monarch bros on the 7.62x39. Cheapest is best, especially when I consider that my gun can't even hold a group WITH the good ammo.
I need more .308, and my Iranian 8mm Mauser has finally given out.

Advice on cheapest new manufacture 'x54R?
I have a Mosin I've only managed to feed five mags, and it's getting hungrier and hungrier each time I pass her by when packing for a range trip.
Also anons, advice on best accuracy for FALs?
Obviously handloads, but for those with an IMBEL made barrel, what do you guys usually use for plinking?
>>34517748
Badass man thank you that definitely seals my decision then. Hell yeah!
Bought 100 Powerbelts and 60 T/C sabots for $75 at a Gander Mountain that was shutting down. That'll keep my muzzleloader shooting for a very long time.
Forgot to post pic of the above. Here they are.

Anyone have any experience with ammo.com? I can't find any reviews (that are probably made up/shilling) off their website. Also their address just shows up as a US Post Office. Should I just stick with CheaperThanDirt? Where do you goys buy ammo online? Ammo in my area is overpriced, also I'm looking to do a birthday buy for my father.

>Will one day hit it big time selling corrosive surplus ammo and will finally move out of his parents house

There is a better feeling. Using it.
I don't stockpile a lot of ammo (maybe because the fucking law doesn't allow me to do so) but shooting ammo you made by yourself is great. Also you can tailor it to your gun and your needs.
>>34517828
My local academy sporting goods occasionally has Wolf 54R boxes for 50cpr, which is about as good as you're gonna get commercially.
I usually buy at least 5 boxes whenever they restock.
