Scion iA, which is now being sold as a Toyota Yaris iA, which is really just a rebadged Mazda2. I drive a heavily modified Mitsubishi Endeavor.
I have quite a bit of engine work in it and have stripped almost all the interior and most of the exterior for weight savings. I've also changed the suspension quite a bit to allow an adjustable ride height.
I've been working on it for close to eight years but I bought the SUV new when it came out in 2005. It's going to break 160k miles some time next year.
I'm currently working on building a frame to make it into a camper to travel around the states next year. With the stripped internals, I have a gigantic amount of cargo space and I've always camped in a tent. Recently however I've seen many people simply turning their trucks into campers and I want to try it out instead of camping in tent.
It's the kind of thing only a mother could love. It's fun as fuck to drive since I've dropped all the weight and improved the engine performance. I let my friends drive it and when they step on the accelerator it puts a huge smile on their faces because it's not something you would expect from an SUV.
The only thing that gets me is that I got the FWD version instead of the AWD version, because back then I was always a city dweller but in 2010 I started going /out/ and I've changed quite a bit because of it. If I had that, it would truly be an amazing 10/10 /out/ vehicle. Oh well. It still handles off road like a fucking champ.
Sorry for the shitty picture. I recently moved my photos to my hard drive and this is the only pic I got of it. She's been through the wringer.

I'd have to really watch for any potential rust after winter and have it undercoated, but fuck, why not? Talk me out of it, /k/.
>>34488270
>cb radio
Fuck yea! Just installed min last weekend
>>34488273
That's gonna suck to drive on the highway, and with a soft top it will probably suck in the winter if the heating system isn't beefy. Probably gonna be pretty loud at higher speeds period.
I would guess the wipers aren't going to be as quality as modern offerings, but hey who knows maybe someone offers more quality blades. It doesn't look like it has any spray built in, which is going to suck for salt accumulation.
The thing apparently tops out at 130 kph, which means you'll want to drive it well below that to avoid throwing all kind of interesting bits in the engine.
Don't know if it's push button start or not, but if it is you might want/have to see about getting a key put in it so you don't come back and find it gone one day.
Admittedly some of this is guessing, I'm a burger and have never touched one of the things.
But if you're okay with all that stuff, hey have fun with it

For my truck, so far so good.
I perform regular preventative maintenance and it has been fairly easy to do. This includes things like changing the oil and filters, greasing components, and general inspection. The only problem I have yet to resolve is the horrible tire shake, but that's because the wheels aren't round. I will have to remove the wheels and take them to be buffed back into round. The only thing I have had to fix so far was the float in the fuel tank filled with diesel, so I drained and resealed it. Overall, the truck has been very good.

Very low skill honestly unless you're doing big hill climbs or something. Kinda necro posting here, but open air military jeeps are super easy to steal. My experience is with willys, but it's sorta a thing to not have any keys to start one up. They 'make' kits that are just simple cut off switches that have a crumby key, but with zero doors and the whole it's cool looking let's fuck with it factor, that's not going to stop a planned theft. A night garage is a must.
But besides that, if you've never driven a real old jeep before, going full military is kinda a big jump. Imagine every single little comfort or detail deleted to save money. Not sure about that particular model, but I grantee that it won't have a heater, and 'automatic' aka electric windshield wipers are not going to be found on anything pre 60's. Also the army tends to think every man is 5'6" so the seats are all bolted down, I can't drive a willys very long at 6'3" which is a bummer.
Parts and service is an issue too, but the internet is helpful. I'd just be concerned about non service able parts, and a potential 24v electric system. Don't count on surplus holding out, and army contracts mean all sorts of minor differences.
>I daily drive a lifted yj and love driving down the freeway with out a roof and doors. 30 feels like 50, 70 feels like your in a jet plane that is actively crashing. A more normal jeep is still plenty of fun. Idk bout selling your only car, but I'd go for it.

2001 Volvo V70 T5. Just got her back from the shop, she threw a wheel weight, needed re-balanced. 215,800 miles and counting. Awesome vehicle for hauling shit. All of my long gun cases fit sideways in the back, so I never have to put my seats down like with most other wagons I've seen.

No... It's a trail in central Texas that runs along an old levee, and also technically parallel to some railroad tracks.
