ITT: General discussion of "tactical"/edc flashlights.
What flashlights do other /k/ommandos edc? Anyone here use weapons lights? Budget vs high end lights. Etc.
EDC light?
MecArmy SGN3.
>USB rechargeable
>160 lumens is a fuckton for its size
>fits on your keychain without dragging it down
>also has a red LED
>ALSO has a UV LED???
>costs like 30 or 40 dollarydoos
Really love this little thing. Use it every day.
Has a weird tendency to turn on all the LEDs at once if you bump it a certain way though.
Carried the LD-22 for years, kept a spare in my car as well. Lost my primary LD-22 somewhere while traveling last week. Took it as an excuse to upgrade to the FD-30.
Fenix makes excellent, reliable lights that can handle all sorts of rough handling and shit conditions. Don't know about mounting them on a rifle or anything though, I'm a bit of a surefire purist there.
Here's my current crop of lights, from left to right:
>Streamlight Sidewinder compact headlamp. runs on one cr123, AA or AAA battery.
>Lazerbrite military tactical lighting kit. Basically a battery-powered chemlight replacement, has two separate light units(in this case blue and green colored) and a bunch of different tubes and caps that all thread together. Good tent light.
>Gerber Recon. A low-output Single AA LED flashlight with a rotating bezel containing several colored filters. Great for map reading and the like.
>Streamlight Polytac 90. High-output angle-head tactical light. This is my EDC light.
>Maratac Tactical Landing Light. Uses one D cell battery, has about a 500 hour runtime of the 40 lumen low setting. Makes an excellent compact lantern.

So I want a flashlight that looks normal (not tacticool-ed to shit) I don't want the funny body shape or the sharp angled head, just something that does its job without looking like a mall ninja wet dream.
Ideally I want something that looks like a surefire 6p

How about a Pelican PM6 3330:

How insecure do you have to be to think like this? It's a fucking flashlight.
What's a good weaponlight that would work on an AR for a guy who prefers a magwell grip style?
>>34487295
Second this. No flashlight looks inherently tactical unless it's got some crazy spikes on the bevel or something anyways.
>>34487279
It looks alright but the clip would probably bother me.
>>34487326
Third this. I like your opinion.
>>34487309
Any will work, just make sure you get a pressure switch with it so you can still use it with your grip.

>What's a good weaponlight that would work on an AR for a guy who prefers a magwell grip style?
Just hold a flashlight in your support hand since it's apparent that you don't care about using improper or inefficient technique.
You're essentially asking "what is the best flashlight for someone who prefers teacupping pistols?"

Maybe dude just knows his limits. He could be weak, or knows he'll be pointing in one direction for a long time.
You ever pull security for a couple hours going full Costa? Me neither, I get comfy. Prop my elbow up on my IFAC and everything. I'm not SUPER DYNAMIC, but I'll pop any retard that comes through that door.

It's removable if it does. Pocket clip is best way to carry a light though, it's always close to hand that way.
Just got one of these. Probbaly the best light in its price. Get one now.

Belt holster is better m8
I have a Quark Smart QS2L-X. It has like a bunch of different programmable modes, bluetooth connection, and confuses anyone I give it to, but the back button is a simple momentary-only full power 900lumen beam of 'fuck you'. So I have my normal edc/utility modes on the side button and the simple reliable back button for tactical use. Zero chance of being in the wrong mode in a self defensive situation.
I really enjoy it. It's the only light I've found that totally separates the back button from the other modes. I see two downsides
1) price, because of the bluetooth programmable shenanigans. $75 is not a lot compared to quality stuff like Surefire but it's more than a typical FourSeven lights.
2) battery length sensitivity. The switch requires a particular length to function properly. Easy fix to buffer the batteries with folded aluminum foil though.
Not perfect but it does exactly what I want.

I knew that I wouldn't have to take a pic
Can't beat the PD35tac, good bang for the buck. I keep it on outdoors mode at all times cause tactical is goofy. Bunch of modes
>eco 8 lumens 4ever
>low 30
>med 100 or 150
>high 500
>turbo 1,000
It'll be my last cr123 light. I don't need or use the 500 and up very much at all. AA and AAAs going forward

Get a used surefire 6P on ebay, get a drop-in Malkoff LED to replace the incan bulb, good to go.
